  • This video is part one in a series about growing lettuce in a hydroponic system. In this video, Bob Hochmuth, UF/IFAS NFREC-SV Assistant Director and Regional Specialized Agent - Vegetables, gives an overview of the immerging enterprises project that is in partnership with Dr. German Sandoya, UF/IFAS Assistant Professor, Horticultural Sciences.
Then Wanda Laughlin, UF/IFAS NFREC-SV Greenhouse Manager, walks you through growing lettuce in a Nutrient Film Technique (NFT). She discusses the pros and cons of growing in an NFT and how the project is going. We then fast forward 2 weeks to show you what the lettuce looks near harvest time and update you on the progress.

hello sir, it's my pleasure to write to you. I am currently working on building a machine-learning model to control environmental parameters which by adjusting it, we can enhance the experience of growing plants in hydroponic systems. Currently, I am seeking some datasets that contain air temperature, humidity, solution temperature, solution PH, and EC for lettuce as a starter. can you please help me look for a kind of database to build the desired model? thank you so much for your interest in reading my message.

The water level seems rather deep to be NFT?

Hello! We turned this system off to film, so it appears to have more water than necessary. However, the plants are happy, so we are happy.

I note they are not selecting based on flavour.
