Thanks, i have the same problem and lo and behold. Same pipe has a split in it. Thanks so much, really helped me a a lot here, the garage did not check it and just wants to replace the sensor.
Thanks for the video, helped me out a lot. To anyone else doing this. If you are buying the pipe, maybe get the elbow attachment already in place to save some hassle. You will need a 85-100mm clamp if you just buy the pipe, and you will need to take a photo of the original before removing the elbow as I had to re position a few times to get it right. The elbow attachment has a notch that will let you know when it is in place, the rest is just positioning and tightening. Thanks again.
Great video. Just found l have the same problem on my 2011 Insignia and can see the crack in the pipe, along with oil deposits. Many thanks. You're a star!
Great video. I'm a total amateur and after watching the video, I managed to do the same replacement pipe with one bend knife for taking out the fog light covers. One flat head screwdriver for jubilee clips! I had to reused the elbow part a mine was a third-party pipe only and still used this video right until finish. Very very very informative video! Thank you so much.
Thank you for the video! Got the same problem on my Insignia, just ordered the part (without the elbow) and giving it a go using this video at the weekend. Hoping the existing elbow part and the new pipe will connect up ok. Great content.
@adamjamieson how did you get on fitting the part without the elbow, I've just ordered the same and thinking- should I have ordered the elbow together. Thanks!
I've had a lot of cars over the years and most haven't been much good but they were only cheap run abouts for getting to and from work. I decided to spend the £4000 I had saved over the years on a new car, my dad very kindly borrowed me £2000 to put to it to get a better car. So I went and brought a 2011 insignia 2.0cdti sri with 28000 miles on it, in mint condition from a garage 100 miles away for £6000. I had 6 months warranty on it and 2 weeks after the warranty expired the problems started. It will hesitate under slight acceleration but not cut out, it lost loads of power but not gone into limp mode, if I floor it, it will drive better than at low revs but obviously I cant floor it everywhere, no codes, no lights on dash.So far I've replaced the MAF sensor, MAP sensor, fuel filter, cleaned the egr valve, cleaned the throttle body, tomorrow I am going to check the boost pipe for a leak. I hate this car, words cannot express how much hatred I have developed for this car over the 8 months I have owned it. I wish it would just set on fire or someone would steal it. I truly deeply hate this car and if I ever win the lottery I'm going to fill it with drums of petrol and wire sum kind of explosive device to it and blow it of the face of the earth, I truly despise it.
Amazingly when I had mine I had this exact problem. The garage assured me it was a DPF issue and said they can fix it (it was a remap shop). Picked up later after they smashed the DPF out (told it was allowed) and remapped (my choice).....problem persists. Found the hose myself and fixed it no problems..... I didn't know no DPF was an MOT fail. I feel for the new owner 😳 luckily that was 5yrs ago. Thanks for the video :)
Great video . I have a vw transporter with the engine management light showing the P0101 error MAF sensor readings error . I took the sensor out and cleaned it, cleared the codes only to find the error came back a day later. A friend of mine said it’s almost sure to be an intercooler pipe leaking so I went round all the joints on the intercooler pipes squirting brake cleaner with the engine running (cold) and the engine note changed when I squirted it on a particular joint. Almost the same fault as you but the leak was on a joint rather than a split. Most go for the MAF sensor and assume that’s the error is caused by that when it’s reporting out of tolerance readings and assume the MAF sensor is at fault. The MAF sensor for my van is £89 where it is actually not at fault ( and no I didn’t buy one). I ordered the intercooler pipe at £29 which after watching your video has underlined the problem to be the same as yours. I will post my result in a week to verify this as being the case .
Great video. You helped me fix mine. My hose was not actually split or showing any visible sign of damage or oil etc. However, when I got the new one I could feel a huge difference in the rigidity of the replacement and the problem was immediately fixed. So even if you are not sure if this is the problem, with this code and limp mode its a fair bet. Its cheap to repair and I feel these hoses and the EGR cooler seals are totally consumable items that will fail on or before 100, 000.
Awesome I used my cheapo OBDII MaxiScan, and got this code... Limp mode is bloody annoying but at least it protects the car. So looks like it will be a trip to Vauxhall next weekend for me then.
I've just had an issue with white smoke, my coolant pipe had a major split in it and under the hood full of oil splatters. Taking it on a run in the problems fixed

So just cos ya code reader is saying maf fault, before you go replacing it I would defo check that intercooler hose for leaks cos the leak will make the maf sensor unable to do its job properly which brings up the maf fault. Hi man thank u for the video, I have an insignia 2013 plate, so I had it at the garage to check the Ac because it wasn't cooling after it got out, the climate control panel turned off and won't start again. Hi No... never had that issue... But just check the basics... fuses, etc... Check that there is voltage at the controller... could have been a coincidence that the panel failed at that time... 👍👍👍
Great video. This seems really common on the vauxhall diesel Range. I changed my vectra ones for all silicone. The replacement pipe cost for that insignia shocked me.
Thanks for this replacement of the pipe. I've been having the Service Vehicle Soon light keep coming on even after the dealer replaced the MAF seems they got it wrong the first time as the car has been back three times. They just phoned and said the intercooler pipe needed replacing. Expensive mistake even after they gave a discount and free fitting of the pipe.
Robert Irwin They probably watched my video... and realised their mistake...😂😂😂😂😂😂 Glad you got it sorted! Thank you for watching and for your feedback!
I had the exact same situation in a ssangyong pick up like 3 codes black smoke and limp mode on highway finally i checked and there was an oily spot on a turbo hose replaced it and still working good greetings nice vid
I had this issue less than an year ago, replaced the hose, job done. Yesterday I've removed the egr and egr pipe to clean (as I've done before twice) put everything together, go for a drive and now I'm getting this error! Don't want to believe it's the hose again, there's no oil on the pipe also. Any ideas?
Hi I have 2014 eco flex and limp mode and duno if I should pay to get it smoked or no was in front smash cat n not after that no horn no central locking no Navi as won't light up etc any help please if turn ignition key on off it goes out limp mode please Tia x
Does the pipe go to the throttle body? I have a 2010 astra 1.7 and I have boost problems and my mechanic said one of the pipes was worn and they didnt point out the pipe, I believe it's the plastic one going from the throttle body to the intercooler
Sama to my opel , it seems to be a Problem on insignia a20dth , but after replace I still ot have 100% engine power , it feel slow , no error în system but not pulling 100% by full throttle
Thanks for this. I've just replaced the hose as the old had a big hole. However the car is still in limp mode although is clearly much improved from before (even in limp mode). How do I reset limp mode to get car back fully functioning?
@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks. Cleared them today but still in limp mode. Hole in intake pipe was quite big and car had been playing up for a while although only in limp mode for the last week. Unfortunately I've had to use it during lockdown in limp mode (20 miles) so hopefully not caused further issues as a result.
Hi my 163 bhp 2013 2litre diesal insignia started loosing coolant and i got the egr cooler replaced, also timing belt and new, waterpump replaced but still leaks coolant, mecahnic done the pressure test and also showed me the crack in the egr housing and also there was a leak from water pump.this car was serviced by vauxhall garage up until 2017 and timing belt was also done at that time. My question is there anybother area where this coolant leak can ve coming from as he checkrd all pipes and they came back clear
Hi. I had same problem with hose. Car jump into limp mode. I change hose i clear fault code but i cant clear message "service vehicle soon". I can clear it but it jumps back after 5 sec. Car is still in limp mode. Any suggestions?
Had same code p2282 changed intercooler hose erased code took for drive car still making hissing noise when accelerating service vehicle soon comes back up any idea what I should do next.thanks
Many possible causes... You might have another leak somewhere, a smoke test will help you finding it... Your turbo might be on its way out... Etc... You need to make some testing and go from there... Thank you for watching!
Hi Double check... sometimes can be difficult to spot... specially when is a small split... But, it can be a many other things... it can be a leak elsewhere on the system... the turbo, turbo actuator etc... Check live data as well... Thank you for watching!
Hi. I’m having a similar issue. 2009 insignia 2.0 CDTI going into limp mode. I checked the pipe and I found a split! I will order a new pipe and thanks to you I can fit it myself. One question.. the error code on my OBD2 reader says P000E fault code which relates to fuel. Can this split pipe cause this error code? Thanks
Hi have this p2282-52 code but boost pipe already been replaced and is good plus new maf sensor , could the throttle flap or swirl flaps cause this same code stumped
Hi mate thanks for all your video's,they make the dark art of diagnosis look easy. One question on this vid,I have a 2015 2.0 diesel with this pipe, the other day I noticed oil residue on it and cleaned it off and since watching this I have been out and squeezed the pipe etc but can't see any cracks anywhere. Would the seal at the top let some oil vapour past and is that normal.I have no faults on the car at the moment. Thanks very much Dave.
Hi It should allow any vapour, or shall I say it should leak... If is leaking, perhaps the seal has perished, I would replace it... Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Hi I had a burst pipe at the throttle body with a little oil in it garage told me probably seals on turbo gone what s your opinion and can a burst pipe cause a little smoke thanks
@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks for getting back so quickly I’m not mechanicaly minded but the car used to get a black puff of smoke and was hard to start and oil seeped from the vacuum above the throttle could the ripped hose at the throttle cause this . It is a 1.8 transit connect tdi 2012 with 11900 on the clock many thanks again
Thats great, I have a 2011 Insignia with 200K kms on the clock. This is exactly the problemn I have, no accelerations as the car is in limp mode. I want to get rid of it so I guess I'd better get it fixed first, thanks for sharing this.
I've had this on my 2018 new shape insignia for the past 6 months. Constant engine warning light. Constant dash message saying, service vehicle soon and engine power reduced. The cars acceleration is really poor and goes in to limp mode. Any help would be great as so many garages cannot find any issues
Hi sir, is that hose the one from turbo going to intercooler or intercooler to throttle.. ? My hose from turbo to intercooler has oil leak. I think hose is already for replacement.. do you think that is the one cause limp mode. No check engine but its kind like under accelerate.
The one on the video, is the one from the intercooler to the intake... Any leak on the intake system can cause loss of power... Thank you for watching!
Hi mate. My car is doing the same after today it sounds like it Sucking to much air into the Turbo and then go into limp home mode could the pipe do this if split. And if so what is the pip called for me to get one
Hi. I jave the same problem with my insignia 2016 sri. Mine is on the driver side. My boost pipe popped off and I lost the clip. Basically, I just need the metal clip thats on your video. The current clip that Ive got is the clip that you got on the new pipe that you bought on this video. But the one that I just ordered from ebay is the old clip that you have. Will there be a problem on those clips or will it fit fine? Thanks
How did you get the clip back on at the top? Does it just push on? My small leak is from the top clip, one of the "lug" holes at the back. The pipe itself appears to be sound. No boost issues or fault codes. Why do these hoses have oil in them? I see some comments below mentioning that the turbo "seals" might be leaking, although it looks like everyone who replaces this pipe has oil in the hose. Hmmmm....
Hi The clip is just push in... but should have a rubber seal on the there... make sure is ok! It is normal to have oil on this hoses after the turbo... they always leak slightly from the bearings... and a lot when the bearings are really bad... not to worry too much unless the amount of oil is excessive! Hope that helps. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
@@LMAutoRepairs Ahh appreciated for the prompt reply. It's more of an annoying ooze. Possible the seal on the clip is bad then. However, if I take it off to take a look, can it go back on again? Does removing it break this weird clip anyway? Looks like there are some on eBay for £25-£30, if the clip seal is bad, then I'll need the full assembly to replace it.
@@LMAutoRepairs OK, thank you Sir. I think, considering the 103,000 mileage, it's done well to last, so I'll renew the lot before the hose pipe splits as well. A wise little investment. :-)
I have bought pipe for £6.59 from ebay and received today www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INSIGNIA-2-0-CDTI-TURBO-INTERCOOLER-HOSE-PIPE-23163578-13242121GENUINE-OEM/123957361132?pageci=6ab40c48-b1b8-46aa-b8fb-b85070f99ecf . Thank you for making a video as it saved me lots of money.
So fiddley, very hard to get jubilee clip off as flat head bit was too far round to get a screwdriver in, so had to use 7mm spanner, then I cannot for the life of me work out the new clip style...
I also have a service soon on my vauxhall insignia elite 2012. Vauxhall garage have said I need a new computer, the cost would be approx £ 10000, it comes on only some times.
Thanks for the video. My hose has split but I didn’t see this until after i had 2 new glow plugs installed! Where would I find, what is the tool called that you used to remove the fog light assembly please. 👍🏻
Toby Freckingham i did and I had it put on the diagnostic and it said glow plugs but apparently it can come up with this code if there is a split hose. You need to check for a tear first.
I had similar problem not boosting but no faults stored just flashes service, I found oil in the boost pipe which when cleaning out lead to checking the egr which was fine but the pipe that goes from the egr to the inlet was packed with wet oily carbon cleaned out will see how it goes turbo on none pressure side looks clean and no play but the seal might be on it’s way out check for air leaks all gd
Cars Exposed Hi Not in this case... the split was not that big yet... I have seen them much worse, and on those you can hear the air escaping... Thank you for watching!
hi Again lois great vid I dont think I saw the first one. I think your diagnostics and electronic skills are amazing. Ive dont a lot of mechanical stuff in the past but learning from you everytime I view?
Hi Scan the car, check live data... It can be many different things... surely you don't want to start to throw parts at it... it can become very expensive very quickly...😉 Thank you for watching!
I got those codes on opcom diagnosis, P2263-5B P2263-61 P003A-00 , After that i change intercooler pipe (it have big hole on it) ,and i change turbo boost valve(solenoid), but car still goes in limp mode. Any solution? Thanks in advice!
@@nnemanjaa1 Ok... In that case... check that everything is connected... start with the vaccum lines, since you have replaced the solenoid... Make sure there is no vaccum leaks and that all the pipes have been connected correctly...
@@LMAutoRepairs i will check all pipes tomorow morning, and i Will write my result here, thanks a lot, your videos are watched in Serbia, Best Regards!
LM Auto Repairs thanks for the quick reply I have a maf sensor code and egr code and it goes into limp mode at high revs. I have also found oil on the other side of the inter cooler going from the turbo
@@LMAutoRepairs thanks, have some 70mm pliers somewhere, should be wide enough Apologies for the questions but when pushing the pipe back on at the throttle assembly end does it just push back on and lock automatically or do you have to pull out the tabs as you do it?
I have a question why is there oil in the pipe I've been told after for months from buying a new car the turbo seals can leak and it's normal for this to happen on any turbo car wht is your opinion on this subject
Great video! So I'm just after a little advice. Yesterday I took my EGR valve and pipe out and they was very clogged, cleaned it out put it back. Forgot to clip the sensor back on and the car was quicker and accelerating more than it did when I first bought it. So, next morning clipped it back on and the issue was still there, hardly any power and funny smell. Little smoke from the engine area. I just wondered what should I check next? Thank you in advance.
What us the correct name of this pipe as I have 2 vauxhall insignia's with the same problem and will this effect the glow plugs as both cars have glow plug cylinder fair codes coming up. Many thanks
I had the same problem (split pipe) and glow plug error code at the same time but those turned out not to be related as the glow plug code returned following replacement of the intercooler hose.
Thanks man, saved me a few pounds for sure! Was a bit tricky to get it all lined up nicely on that bottom fitting but stuck with it and got there after a bit of swearing :D
Thanks for the great video. But can you tell.me the new hose you bought has a different clip.on the elbow.my new hose has exactly the same clip on it . Does the bottom clip just snap into place once you push the hose on the intercooler. Or do you have to open the clip slightly to get it on.cheers Kex
Unfortunately the stealership, oh my bad, dealership wins again.. great vid! For that price you'd think they would add a bit more strength to the pipe, money doesn't grow on trees but rubber does!
Ah, I had a problem with this clip at first, but the secret to reconnect it back up is holding it half open and you will hear a click! Just as the video showed, the clip have to be connected to the elbow part. Then push onto the main body.
Thanks for the video, going to check out tomorrow, wonder what year that one is, I think the layout in mine is different, I’ll update you but thank you
HI can I ask you something about the bottom clip you mentioned that it is slightly different did you put a jubilee clip over a new one? I have just got one delivered identical but only paid 60 quid for it . Thanks
Colin Aglae Hi Thanks, happy Easter... Is actually the hose that runs from the intercooler outfeed to the intake manifold... I think...🤔 lol Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs hi. Also I have the same code p2282. Checked the pipe that you changed but is ok but the pipe in the other side is really weak and squishy
@@LMAutoRepairs well I’m fitting a new one as we speak so will try it. But if that doesn’t work. What could it be? The code when Typed in google says. Air leak from throttle body.
The code means an air leak somewhere after the turbo... You need to look for it... Could be other things, but the leaks check is the first and most sensible approach... 🤞
@@tobyfreckingham5893 I wouldnt mind knowing either. But the glow plug sensors react so the smallest amount of soot, going to try take the plug out and spray with carbon cleaner let dry and put back

The speed goes down. I have to switch off my car so It can be normal again. I’m based in London, but not every “car specialist” is a real specialist. Thank You

They probably watched my video... and realised their mistake...😂😂😂😂😂😂

I had this issue less than an year ago, replaced the hose, job done. Yesterday I've removed the egr and egr pipe to clean (as I've done before twice) put everything together, go for a drive and now I'm getting this error! Does the pipe go to the throttle body? I have a 2010 astra 1.7 and I have boost problems and my mechanic said one of the pipes was worn and they didnt point out the pipe, I believe it's the plastic one going from the throttle body to the intercooler
Not sure on from the top of my head on the 1.7...

Thanks very much

Hmmmm....
Hi
The clip is just push in... but should have a rubber seal on the there... make sure is ok!
It is normal to have oil on this hoses after the turbo... they always leak slightly from the bearings... and a lot when the bearings are really bad... not to worry too much unless the amount of oil is excessive!
Hope that helps.
