I would never have the bottle to attempt it though. Until i heard about this problem with insignias, i loved my car, but now i feel like i am driving around with a ticking timebomb waiting to go off. And i read that Opel Vauxhall know all about this problem, and their way of fixing it is to re-programme the cars computer to not even show a warning on the dash about the oil pressure, because apparently, once you do get this warning, it is already too late to save the engine. And all for the sake of a small rubber seal. Well done again on the video.
I feel that also , but I have heard that there is a solving to this problem with a cheap easy modification to the oil bath cap which seals that oring and keeps it pressed so that wont fell off. I have to do this to my insignia this summer. Cheers!
My engine blew for this same issue. £17.52 part. Joke i knew about it but so maybe should have attempted this or brought it in the garage. Not sure if anyone local could so this.

Steven Giddings. If you have a chisel or a crowbar, stick it between the sump and the gearbox and try to force it off. If you have a rubber mallet or a bit of wood you could also use it to hit the sump at the front and back, that should help to crack it. The sump is stuck on tight but some force and hammering will crack it. Good luck.

Did you break the bolt loose first? before putting a spanner on the opposite bolt as they spin without spanner on other bolt.. All so did you put a lot of force when you had to hammer the thread out? From that lower arm as I have removed the bolt and need to hammer it out seems like that's pretty solid to. Ravy Preap if your gearbox is manual transmission and has the 2 hole cut out slot. You need to rotate the flywheel slowly by placing a winch on the bottom pulley. Then rotate the engine while looking through the torx cutout for a notch that is on the flywheel. Go to time 13:50 in the video you will see the winch on the pulley to rotate the engine to see the notch in the flywheel.

@dumitrucostin1662 did you use any slickb50 or similar product, this stuff is like treacle and cold weather thickens it up even more, this could be causing your oil to go thick/sluggish and that will throw a low oil pressure warning up...worth trying an oil change using a clean batch of 5/30 fully synthetic and see if it helps.
Great video mate been waiting for one like this one question when u moved fly wheel by the crank bolt did that knock timing get off or did u mark it thanks
Hi, Thanks. That’s a good question. I’m not sure as I don't know much about the electronics of the timing and sensors. The guys on the insignia-drivers.uk forum said I should rotate the pully. Also the Hynes manual states rotate the flywheel. I did not undo any of the timing belts so I’m guessing rotating the crank pully would operate similar to the starter motor turning the flywheel, I could be wrong. That’s a good point. Definitely put a mark on the crank pully position just incase. If I should have to do that gasket again I will mark the crank pully position before I rotate it, then when all is finished, rotate the pully back to its original state. Also, It's a good idea to disconnect the car's battery. I had the car radio on which drained the battery flat and I had to clear some low voltage fault codes with ODB tool. Good luck. Regards

Yep main dealer do charge a lot to replace the seal due to the amount of time it takes. You could also try smaller mechanic shops, they’re usually far cheaper. Search on gumtree for mechanic shops. Thanks.

You really didn't have to take the whole wheel off just to take out that center cap 😂😂😂😂😂
Well if you don't want to damage the center cap, taking the wheel off is the best method I know of.
Hi what size were the blots off the drive shaft mont ?
13mm
where do you fill up new transmition fluid?
The filling plug is on the top of the gearbox near the ECU. I thing it has hex bolt, you may also need a funnel
Hi Bro! Please help me, i dont know how you keep out the 2 near the gear box
Hiya great video just a little question instead of taking the drive shaft out can you not just take out the 3 bolts that holds the drive shaft to gearbox and leave drive shaft there without taking it out. Ps thanks for video again going to do this at the weekend I don't have low pressure light yet but coming up to 90k miles
Brian Gallagher I think so but due to doing the replacement on a road without a car ramp with limited tools, by removing the driveshaft it gives me a bit more room to work. Once you crack the driveshaft wheel bolt the driveshaft is easy to remove. Regards
@@TayouTroy thanks for fast reply 👍🏼
thought the same but one bolt from the drive shaft holder is blocked by the drive shaft so you have to remove the drive shaft.
@@TayouTroyHi Troy then is it simple to push the drive shaft back in after.
Hi, don't you need to change the drive shaft seal when doing this job?
Hi, if the seal was not leaking, no you don't need to change it.
Hi mate thanks for the video I am going to attempt this job it's a Vauxhall Astra 2.0 Cdti 2011 basically same engine but mine has a stop start function...
So is the seal still the same for my car?
Peter Bryan Hi, I’m not sure if the removal of the other parts would be the same as the insignia but the rubber seal would be same. It may seems intimidated at first but trust me it’s not. Do it on a sunny day and start it early as it does takes a bit of time. All the best.
Troy I have started it today cracked the top shock absorber bolt ok the second one is stuck on solid will have to try and lend or but a impact gun haha the joys
Unless you had my sane problem in doing the shock 2 bolts?
Peter Bryan my shock bolt were ok to take off. Have you tried wd40 on the bolts.
Troy I got the top one of but that was extremely tight..
The bottom one is very tight obviously with all the rust and dirt..
Troy I am a DIY mechanic like yourself so considering its lockdown have a lot of time on my hands to try tackle it haha
Hey tayou Troy I finally cracked the suspension bolt haha needed a blow torch it was that seized on!
I have took drive shaft out and lowered exhaust etc undone all the sump bolts besides the two hidden bolts between flywheel. I bought the long t40 150mm tool... But turns out my 2 hidden bolts are t45 not t40 so I will have to wait for the t45 150mm to come from eBay so had to stop...
Is breaking the sump of hard?
All so when putting sump back on tricky?
Did mine job went well...went to check oil level and dipstick wont come out..moves few inches then becomes trapped..any help with what could cause this please
You should’ve taken the dip stick out before attaching the sump. You will need to undo the sump again to get out the dip stick. Sorry
@@TayouTroy haha yes I know that now and sump will be coming off next oil change..I was just wondering what causes the problem as I can't work out how its possible for it to get trapped anywhere... no indications as to how its possible I have studied the dipstick diagram and no idea..thanks for reply...will be drilling access holes this time
@@mrmotorvator5151 the end of the dip stick fits in a slot in the plastic sump tray. When you refit the sump the tip of the dip stick did not fit properly straight. Depending on how tight the misalignment is you could try pulling the dip stick out with effort, other wise the sump has to be removed.
@@TayouTroy thanks for help is appreciated
Nice work; I’ve been experiencing this with my 2012 insignia , will have a go.

2. Have you any ideas how to fix a transmission that goes in limbo when you first start it , the accelerator skips and car just revs as though it was in neutral even though gear is in drive?
Please help if you can
You could try changing the gearbox oil
Thank you mate :)
my Insignias done 200k now i'm debating if its worth doing the job as the low pressure lights been on for 12 months
You should if you are planning on keeping the car. if not just upgrade the car when the engine blows.
Idiot lights for a reason🙄
my 1.9cdti (dth) engine with 150hp is getting a oil pressure warning , is it tesame engine? it also flikker when the cable is of the sensor , cable is fine
chevroletbelair1 it should be the same engine.
hello, how did you pass the T40 torx key despite with the tool you said? I can’t do it, did you press by forcing on the gearbox? help me please, a big thanks to you.
Ravy Preap can you explain a bit more? Are you talking about the 2 torx hidden bolts on the gearbox side?
Thank you for having answered, yes the 2 torx located next to the gearbox, the 2 torx T40, I bought the tool you have advised, should put a tool and force between the gearbox and the pan oil? excuse me for my English I’m Thai and again thank you are a great help
Ravy Preap if your gearbox is manual transmission and has the 2 hole cut out slot. You need to rotate the flywheel slowly by placing a winch on the bottom pulley. Then rotate the engine while looking through the torx cutout for a notch that is on the flywheel. Go to time 13:50 in the video you will see the winch on the pulley to rotate the engine to see the notch in the flywheel.
ok if I understand correctly, we need to turn the flywheel a little manually to have access? thank you
@@RP69800 Hi, Yes that's correct.
How much will it cost and contact, to fix my Zafira 14 plate. Cheers
Can anyone tell me the torque specs for the oil pan please
I didn't use one, I hand tightened them. Sorry.
What drill bit and type you use to drill the bell housing anyone ??? Thanks
A carbide burr is better for grinding out the hole needed. Or any big metal drill bit.
@@TayouTroy thankyou sir , may I ask is that a bit that will just go in a cordless drill. Any info on size hole or photo of your one appreciate your reply loved the vid
@@TayouTroy also sorry me again haha , to use the burr wouldn't you need to be able to get to the side/edge ? But there isn't a gap is there ??
@@cameronh3767 you could tap a hole using a metal drill bit, then use a burr to ream out the hole. Check this link for a photo of the hole reamed out. www.cameraloops.com/articles/tutorials/how-to-replace-vauxhall-insignia-oil-pickup-gasket-insignia-low-oil-pressure-warning-fix-r51/
@@TayouTroy thankyou mate , so like drill pilot hole then burr out so to make sure don't end up hitting the wrong thing , is it aliminium the box and is it very thick....like unsure not to to drill and hit the flywheel or sommet
When you put new seal in, i'm guessing you remove the red plastic cap before rebuild?
Glen Heath yes remove the red part.
15:58 The screws are RIBE not torx.
Thank you.
No more videos again??😢
Hello sir!
How old was the car? It was a diesel engine?
Thanks!
Phase A1 insignia so no later than 2013.
2.0 CDTI diesel engine. A20D..
The recommended guy only does clutches, I contacted him
How much does this cost to fix my car? Have same problem.
This mobile mechanic will do it for you for £200 or £250

He has a TH-cam channel here: @
I have changed the seal but still no luck. Still having the warning at the cold morning.
Maybe is the oil pump
@dumitrucostin1662 did you use any slickb50 or similar product, this stuff is like treacle and cold weather thickens it up even more, this could be causing your oil to go thick/sluggish and that will throw a low oil pressure warning up...worth trying an oil change using a clean batch of 5/30 fully synthetic and see if it helps.
Any mechanics that are willing to do this? I’m happy to pay a reasonable price! P.S the mechanics under the pinned tweet no longer do this job.
Would it not of been easier to just replace the full pump with new gaskets
Good luck. Regards
Got a quote from Vauxhall they never heard of this repair quoted me 944 to do the work but coz they never heard of it 212 to do 2 hours diagnosis first. Can you fix
Mine please?top job by the way
Stephen Lloyd, Hi I’m not a proper mechanic more of a diy.
If the transmission has the cutout for the 2 hard to reach bolts and you’re in London I’m happy to help you replacing the seal.
Yep main dealer do charge a lot to replace the seal due to the amount of time it takes.
You could also try smaller mechanic shops, they’re usually far cheaper.
Search on gumtree for mechanic shops.
Thanks.
thanks
11am to 6pm wow😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great
That mechanic u keep quoting were is he based
Hi, I don't know. send him a text and ask him.

I have a saab ttid , showing " oil pressure low , make a safe stop ! " , it was only serviced 3 weeks ago 🙄 , last one was last January covering just over 5k in that time , i have looked at the S/History again &
the last FIVE services she has had , 4 lots of 5w 30 & 5w 40 have been used 😱 , this is a BIG no no when asking the "Saab forum " on F/Book 😞 , They state they have a problem arising with the ttid as the Logbook states 0 w40 , but the "recommended list " in most garages is 5 w30 , i shit you not , so my question is , A : have i killed my car by putting the correct oil in ? B:Have the last 5 oil
changes killed my car & it was already on the way out before the service 3 weeks ago , what to do ??? , i know you may of fallen asleep by now but i only bought her in Sep & she was 3.5 k , which for my family man bank account was quite a hit , Tia 🤞🏼🤞🏼
I’ve done it myself aswell, I had to drill holes in my gearbox because I couldn’t reach two bolts. I’m willing to help people out there to change it for a fair price, contact me.
A real cancer in these engines some the sump pan comes out some gear box off but you can drill holes in if your own car but not a customers 😅
Hi I live in Stafford. Could you advise how much you would do this for
You've left the red plug on the seal !!!
That bastard thing killed my car
Did your engine seize up?
