- The R6 is an impressive looking package in its yellow and black race livery. With a compact, centralized mass structure and eye catching styling, you just know it is one performance orientated supersport motorcycle. Visually it screams race replica, and on initial inspection, it sure looks like one, following on from previous R6’s with their track focus. The engine is a gem, absolutely linear through the rev range, the power comes on strong and just keeps on coming and coming until up-shift time. Fueling is excellent other than mild openings off a closed throttle. The bike does not have a quick shifter and nor does it need one. Short, crisp changes are the go both up and down the gearbox, with just a snick on the gear lever required. The gearbox is super slick, offering solid gear changes with easy clutch-less upshifts, and the brakes, both front and rear offered great feel, bite and stopping power. The seat and riding position is surprisingly comfortable, with a reasonable reach to the bars allied with high foot pegs that provide an acceptable knee bend for an older rider, allowing body positioning and weight transfer to take place easily. Turning into corners and within them are where this bike shines. It's nimble handling makes it a joy in the twisties. The R6 was born on the racetrack. Its MotoGP-bred technology is tuned to give you the kind of outstanding engine and chassis performance usually reserved for professional racers. hey, I’m looking at a 2016 r6 w/ a power commander and other stuff for $7k, it has 15k miles and hasn’t been rode in 3 months..would this be a good buy or do you think it has issues? Thanks!
Almost impossible to know if it has issues unless we are standing in front of the bike and able to see it and hear it. The price these days is whomever is willing to pay the prices on bikes cause the auctions are now at retail. Check the KBB and NADA numbers as well as what they are going for on cycletrader. This way you can see what the going prices are at present.
