Wow that turned out great. Your engine light turned out really good and the rest of your lighting looks great too. Even though I am not a Star Wars fan I enjoy watching your Star Wars builds. I grew up more with Star Trek all my life as I am no spring chicken. I have been in the hobby for over 46 years. I only saw the first 2 Star Wars movies back in the 70's, Star Wars and the Empire Strikes Back.

Thanks friend! I'm more of a Star Wars fan but I enjoy all SCI-FI.

I did get the photo etch set for my big refit but other than that you don't have to spend a lot of money for after market parts or expensive model kits to have models that look just as good when finished. You do well.

Love how it turned out! Excellent work! I have actually built this kit more than once and the thing that always griped me about it (as well as the old MPC kit) is the plain piece of rear plastic for the engine exhaust. But the last build of it, what i I did (I never attempted to light it) was to use the "ribbed" section of a wide, long tie lock and glued it to the surface of the blue plastic. It gives the overall look of a "grill". Pretty convincing.

Thanks, that's a great idea for the engine! Thanks for viewing!

Just came across your video. Excellent job on that kit - obviously the Force was with you during this build! My local hobby store has this kit on a 50% clearance - as soon as I finish typing this message I am on my way there to buy it :)
Do you have any recommendations on good references to learn about lighting plastic model kits? I think your lighting job really put this over the top. I would like to replicate something along this line. I am an experienced modeler, but I have never done any lighting work.
Again, incredible job. I subscribed - look forward to watching and learning from your other videos!

Thanks for subscribing! Interstellar Modeler has a lot of videos that has simple lighting. It's a good start to lighting without getting too technical. Thanks for viewing!

The paintjob and crafting new cannons obviously helps the model but you STILL get the feeling Revell based its Millennium Falcon off the MPC model because the front sidewalls look far too wide. Other than that, the detail is generally very good and it doesn't look soft to me.
As far as detail on the exhaust grille goes, I don't think a lot of people have paid attention to the original version of the FIRST trilogy lately.
That original model of the Falcon did NOT have the engine grilles that were obvious on the Sequel Trilogy CG models. The engines just basically glowed white in flight and we never got a clear view of the rear of the Falcon when it was on the ground. I guess depending on how accurate people want to be (or completist), you put in that grille detail if you want it or not. The grilles are a retcon and might have been on the CG Falcon model they did of the Falcon for the first film's SE edition.
Yeah, I think the model looks better with the replacement cannon top (obviously; why bother with the bottom cannon replacement if you never see it?) and the round radar dish. I never liked the rectangular dish they introduced in Episode 7. The Falcon is getting a new round dish for Episode 9 but knowing Disney it won't be exactly like the dish the ship had in Episodes 4-6; I got a closer look at the teaser for Episode 9 and the dish look more like a round triangle than a true circular shape. I dunno-- I wasn't planning on giving Disney my money in December anyway...

Nice build mate I have just ordered this kit the slightly older one with Han and chewy figures and the round radar dish. I was hoping you could tell me where you purchase the after market laser cannon from as the ones in the kit are poor thanks

      Thanks, I ordered it from Shapeways, it's a 3D printing company www.shapeways.com/marketplace?type=product&q=millemium+falcon+cannons
