The earliest predecessor to the inversion plot was Ed Marlo's "Mental Reverse" published in The Cardician in 1953. Routines of this type were first published under the title "Inversion" in Encore II in 1981 by James Lewis, Piet Forton, and Michael Ammar. Since then, many magicians have published variations on the plot. So many, in fact, that a not-quite-as-good version of this trick is a rather common follow up to "hey I know this one magic trick can I show it to you?" Luckily, the version I teach here will fool people who know the not-quite-as-good version as the magical phenomenon taking place is far more impressive in this version.

Thanks a lot! I managed to amaze all my friends with this surprisingly simple trick. I now know 2 magic tricks fluently - gotta keep learning!
Nice work!
Thanks!
HAHA YES LMAO OMFG THATS SO FUNHNY HAHA
Shock from others after a performance is every magician's desire.
All time classic. Had a street magician teach me this one when I was a kid. Still remember it

What I really appreciate, is by watching one of your 10 levels of Sleight of Hand, I knew how this trick worked. That's a nod that you teach principles well. I also appreciate the in-depth approach to teaching the holding positions. It can be easy to want to get to the "magic", but I realize the magic is having amazing fluidity with props/cards. Thanks for everything you share and do!
9:55 Speaking as someone who has cracled this trick at various friends and family gatherings over the years and dozens of people, yes, nobody notices.
I'm a little doubting, i'l see
What a fun trick-- I used to do that same type reversed so chosen card is only face up card. Your teaching style is so patient and amazing-- and I have seen you perform at the Magic Castle etc etc and you are just so incredible with a deck of cards. Love your performances.
You’ve got great style Daniel. Great teacher and really engaging screen energy. Love your chanell
Awesome! Thank you!
Daniel has a lot of humility in his mannerisms I think he's gonna be a really big star
Love the attention to detail you put into the basic grips. There are great magic tutorials here on TH-cam, that teach fantastic tricks incredibly well. This is the first time I've seen someone take the time to teach the basics of just how to hold the deck in a way that sets you up for success.
After watching only one of your videos I subscribed. You can actually see the commitment and passion on each one of your videos. Keep it up my guy, you'll go far.
he's a great teacher
daniel, you are on fire dude, i've watched your videos for a few weeks and i just wish you had more videos, thats how much i'm in love with your work, keep doing your stuff. i'm calling it, your 1 mil is comin till the end of the year.
These videos help me learn a lot about card magic that I can use to entertain my family during this time since covid begun in the world, so thank you.
You are the only magician that teaches everything...every small detail
Thank you for telling me how to do the spread on the table, I was having a really hard time doing a clean one. Love the content. Thanks again.
This is effect is brilliantly simple unlike Daniel's routine on P&T which was staggeringly skillful for any magician. I'm not sure what age Daniel is, but is, without doubt, a true master of the art. :)
5:01 on the clock, it's time to learn some tricks
wut
Bro your editing is on another level!!!!
your tutorials keep me coming back for more! I appreciate your work.
thank you!
I’m gonna blow my nephew’s mind. Thank you for sharing!
Great video for all time beginners! I'll probably teach this to a few of my friends!
Appreciation from Canada, for your simple, easy to follow instructions.
If you have a deck with a double-sided face-down prop card like the Ghost deck, this is easier to pull off and tuff cookies will not be able to go through the deck and see the second card in your trick is face down. Though you have to end the trick with showing the cards face down and their card face up (which takes away the tension build-up effect but still gets great reaction). Great video man!
We need more stuff like this
i tried it and even my magician aunt could not figure it out for the life of her! thank you so much!
Awesome videos and card work. I love your careful explanations. But even after you show how some of your tricks are done, your artful handling of the cards still make it all look so flawless.
Years ago, a magician taught me a variation of this same trick ... but in his variation only one card is flipped to prepare the deck and both he and the spectator choose a random card. This way two cards end up inverted at the reveal ... equally amazing to the spectator except that the 2nd inverted card is really the prepared card. You can spread all the cards and let the spectator inspect the deck at the end of the trick because all the evidence of preparing the deck is gone.
Proud Card Magic 101 student🃏😌
Magic tutorial videos aren't for me but I came here to leave a like and a comment even if I don't intend to watch the video. Keep doing what you enjoy doing Daniel, and I'll keep supplying the upvotes.
Did you control the Jack of Clubs so it was the card chosen for both the intro trick and also the run-through at the end? If so, well done. If not, well that's just magic.
Smoooooooth as silk
I watched you since I was 10. Now I'm 12 and everybody "pays me"
To do tricks. Thanks dude.
Perfect choice for a starter!
I actually realized how you did it before the explanation! I had to rewind and slow mo to confirm my suspicion 😅
Awesome video, congrats on the launch and hope your course is a success!
I love your tutorials the videos are long but very very effective and useful
Thanks for this video
Interesting that the quote about holding something like a bird has its origins in magic. I first heard in the leggend of bagger vance, a movie about golfing.
Nice and easy to learn! I have to say, you're getting better with your tutorials. Cleaner, more relaxed.
You got me back into magic. This channel is a goldmine of great content mate :]
Glad to hear it!
Love your work
Bro u are too underrated
you should put more tutorials like this. I love the way you teach and helps me a lot to understand basics of magic (logic) . so it would be good if you can put tutorial of neuroscience of magic (level 10) the real mystery one
I like this concept, but I think for this style of trick getting the cardini change down makes it end a little bit better. That way you don’t have to worry about someone picking the deck up and searching through your ribbon spread. Awesome trick tho Daniel!!!! I love your videos, and thank you so much for providing inspiring material!
I just started learning card magic and i'm so glad, that i used those grips naturally since my childhood 🥳
Thanks so much for your videos. They really inspired me, to start with card magic. This will be the first trick i learn and i'm already excited, to master it. I will practise, until i no longer need to think about the handling of the cards. Maybe that's a good approach? 🤔
Love this routine!
Daniel please i need more tutorials my country has just gone into a full lockdown
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm trying to learn card magic right now, and you're an idol of mine. Your delivery and performance are what I want to get to some time. Thanks again!
A very basic trick/ explained in excruciating detail :)
Great trick. Thanks!
Great effect and awesome tutorial👍👍👍👍👍
This is the 1st card trick I learned as young boy...a little different handling, but the same effect.
Thank you Mr. Roy. Upon learning this trick my performance at work improved, girls ask for my number, and all my fears went away. Highly recommended.
I knew it would work for you!
u explain very well sir
What a cool video. I really like the way you make it fun and easy to understand. Thanks
thank you for this! I was able to trick my sister and get some cool reactions from her :)
Why the hell did Daniel blow the hell up recently from 49 to 75k
the algorithm smiled upon me lol
HA YES SO TRUE LMAO SAME ME IRL AM I RIGHT??? SUS DABABY
Amazing as always, absolutely love your magic!!
Going away on holiday soon, any book recommendations?
Thanks for your effort
Firstly, love this, been loving your content and as a complete beginner I am aiming to master this trick and move forward. I have a question though, not so much about this particular trick but generally; if you're right handed, as I am, why do you have the dealing from the left hand? Is there a specific reason for that? I'm seeming to find it far easier in my right hand but I'm sure there's a reason.
While a student golfer, I was told the bird grip analogy came from St Andrews golfer Sir Robert Maule in about 1550.
How are you such a small TH-camr but still have such a good looking, high quality setup
I have a penchant for spending just a tad too much on camera lenses…plus I watched a bunch of lighting tutorials and the rest was trial and error
Subbed right away, quality content,
dude I was a thousand like for the first time ever, this is my greatest achivement, where can I get a trophy engraved?
This is the only trick I remember from my childhood, but he could have explained this in 3 minutes instead of 18.
where did you get the black hearts and diamonds, red clubs and spades deck that you used in the ten levels of psychology video?
I need a bit of advice every time I try to back palm a card the corners peak. Any tips to help
Can you create any sequence of the Fibonacci series?
Love this.. easy opener too! I was thinking💭 how about “10 levels of color changes”?
wut
you got your wish !
Jack of CLubs was the chosen card at the end as well as the beginning! Did you force that? If so that's impressive.
After 2 times watching the demonstration at 0:32 I was able to guess how it was done.
In your next video can you do 10 levels of the ambitious card
Similar to Topsy Turvy but I like this better.
The first one i knew it from the 10 levels of sleight of hand.
Such an easy trick to do. I taught myself this trick when I was 4 years old
Just found your channel and love it. Have done the last trick you taught and it is great.
Just a thought don’t spend so much time each video going over the grips. Just link a previous video or something.
What's the name of that green surface?
Dude my hands are dry so I find it difficult to do sleights! Could you please suggest me some tips? What you do to make your hands moisturized! Please let me know! 😊🤘🏻
I like Aveeno hand lotion, the beige and green bottle. Just a pea size drop and spend 20-30 seconds rubbing it in. Do this a few times a day to keep your skin in good condition.
@@DanielRoyMagic Thank you so much dude! 😇🤘🏻
Generally speaking you want to have a good daily skincare routine for hands
Is Patreon meant as the main (only?) way to access the course?
Yup, it’s only on Patreon. I teach private lessons as well, and that is just via PayPal.
CLASSSSSSSSS CREDIT
You are a great teacher and you are also SO cute!!! (I'm 83 so I'm not hitting on you.)
So, have you thrown your college degree and learning to the wind and you are now solely focused on earning money by way of TH-cam and magic? The exponential growth of this channel is almost unbelievable!
magic and youtube is what I do full time now, but I still make use of my degree here and there :)
You cannot make me believe that THAT was that guys voice
What close up pad are you using?
I have them custom made by a guy. You can buy them at www.pattricksmagic.com/magical-mats. I like the green plush or the green spectral.
@@DanielRoyMagic Ok thanks, that's what I thought.
I use this trick and chris pratts “burn em” trick whenever someone asks if I can do a card trick
I should work out a version of that trick and maybe add some subtleties and psychological ploys to it and then teach it on the channel. It’s a fun one!
OK!!!!!
Tried to do it to my mom, the first thing she did was to choose the card on the very end of the deck
I need to have my fingers practice more
There you have it guys
Harry Potter is in fact a real magician 😶🌫️
🤯🤯🤯
almost 9000 views and only 700 likes? what madness is this?
Is card size make different level ?
Like Mtg card or yugioh card.
He did videos on both those, at the very least he did Yu-Gi-Oh and had no complications.
Damn. I for sure am that guy who picks the very bottom card in the deck. Guess it's not gonna be me this time around.
Title: Easy magic trick tutorial!
The video: 18 minutes
My name is suman I'm from India online course is not in Indian ruppes so I cannot sign in please make it you are the sleight of hand 👑. Thank you
I want to be your best friend 😲
You already did a tutorial on this trick a couple videos ago.
(The Video) th-cam.com/video/tOlBHoOYzXM/w-d-xo.html
I explained the super basic method, but didn’t teach any of the subtleties that make it learnable. There’s a big difference between “here’s the secret method” and “here’s how to learn the trick so you can do it.” But that does depend on your goals - if you just want to know how it’s done, which is fine, then they’re more or less equivalent.
@@DanielRoyMagic To be honest, when I watched that video I got it right off the bat. I showed it to my brothers and sisters and they had an amazing reaction. I understand what you mean though, way more in-depth on how you did the trick.
Taking too long to do the trick but very good
im omegatron c:
I know 52 pickup
Did you accept brazilian students?
Yup! Contact me on my website
Nice video but u rly dont need to explain the basic thinks like how to hold a deck if someone doesnt know it can be googled
u look like toby maguire
Not to complain, because I am, this is a rather tedious trick to learn for one that is learning to do a magic trick for the very first time. Granted it is given freely. I see how it's done, bit of work, however I think I had better just stick with my typing skills.
