After my brush with the law last time I ventured into Central London I thought it high time I tried again - this time to take you on a tour of the City, Docklands and more....
Im not even into bikes or anything but I came across your channel by accident and I have to say it's quite a relaxing experience and you seem like a great person. Thanks for the videos.
I'm starting to enjoy watching city videos. Always something going on. People going about their daily commutes, cyclists and scooters whizzing about, nice cars and bikes, tourists, and the lovely ladies! Not to mention land marks and historical buildings. Nice tour, thanks.
I saw a documentary a year or two ago about a guy who bought, renovated and lived in one of the clock towers at St Pancras. It was really amazing...beautiful city all around by the way
I was living in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics and was fortunate to attend a few events. The stadium was converted to Turner Field for the Braves. Who are leaving for a new stadium just north west of Atlanta and the old Olympic/Turner Field will be leveled.
My wife is based in High Wycombe (RAF) and I stumbled upon your neck of the woods recently. Very pleasant. Keep up the good work, maybe one day I'll bring my Mv up for a ride.
Simon Gurry Hi Simon - yes you should, a distinct lack of Italian exotica around here (especially in High Wycombe!!!)....all the best and see you around! - TMF
Very nice and enjoyable video TheMissendenFlyer. Thanks for sharing. London sure is a beautiful place that I would love to visit. So different to what I'm used to
hondannyboy Wow, gotta love the internet. I'd love to visit South America one day, definitely on the bucket list....thanks for watching and best wishes from Blighty!
Thanks for a nice view of London. Brought back many memories of palces in and around the place (glad I don't have to do hand to hand combat with the traffic) having worked in the bank area (Std Chartered Bank for example) and lots of others!
Thank you Sir for the tours of London. I really enjoyed it having never been. I hope you will do more tours of London in the future but please be careful of the traffic lights!!! Sal : )
It's nice to see London again from a biker's view. I've been there in 2005 and rented an SV650 from Shepard's Bush, did a tour of the place, so your video brought in memories. Keep them coming mate.
TheMissendenFlyer Hi again. I'm a bit far off from you mate. Live in Malta, small little island bang in the middle of the Mediterranean. It was a British colony once. I work as a civil radar technical officer at the local airport. Got an old SV650 (curvy) as you guys call them, bought brand new back in 2000. Can't part with it. She's a reliable old horse and it took me places. Am currently waiting for the Supermoto version of the little Honda CRF. It'll be a replacement for my daily commuter, Hyosung XRX125SM. Regarding the CRF, seems like the rear does not have a sturdy enough frame to support a proper top box. This is something I'm looking into as I'm usually lugging along a ton of photographic equipment which I'd need to stash somewhere. Got any ideas?
stephen spiteri Hi Stephen - Wow Malta, I'd love to visit one day, home of the good old Gloster Gladiators in the war I seem to recall! ....and I agree re the rear subframe on the CRF - some owners beef them up with home made reinforcements, other than that I'm not sure what else you can do if you are carrying lots of weight. You can get luggage racks but they will only be good for a few kilos......enjoy!
TheMissendenFlyer Gladiators. The most famous were called Faith, Hope and Charity. they fought against all odds and kept the Nazis at bay long enough until reinforcements in the form of Spitfires joined the fight. Do look me up if you really decide on visiting the island, if you've got facebook you'll find me by searching for my nick, "zunkus". I'm also on Flickr as my other hobby is photography besides bikes and art in general.
G'day from Australia, quick note to say I enjoy your video's, thanks for the tour of London....Hoping to make the move to the UK and see it for myself. Particularly like you video's covering the BMW. AS a fellow pilot have also enjoyed the country scenery from your flying.
....and just spotted the comment re flying - glad you like that too, I don't get many views for the flying stuff so have stopped posting them but now I know you're out there maybe I'll restart :0)
Brilliant tour of London you have filmed. I enjoy going to London for days out, but I could not commute to London every day like so many do. I found your channel by accident and like your theme and subscribed. I'm not a biker yet, but maybe one day.
I watch quite a few motorcycle vids on you tube and you have a very nice style with good commentary and pleased that you do not need to use the f word and other profanities unlike many other uploaders. It is many years since I last rode my Norton Commando thru the streets of London but still very happy to enjoy the rural roads in and around the Cotswolds for example.
Well that's very kind of you to say so Ian - I must admit I am quite proud of the fact that I have around 300 videos up and I haven't sworn in one of them! I went to the NEC on Monday and looked at the current batch of Norton's, the current Commando is pretty tasty and would work a treat cruising through the Cotswolds! Thanks for watching and for your kind words - TMF
As a central London (Notting Hill) biker, it’s always interesting to see a non-commuting outta towner’s experience of riding in our delightfull city. You’re right the big GS & similar are not for the faint-hearted & speed. I use my old 91 GN250 around town, which is as agile as a scooter & perfect for the 20 & 30 speed limits, although the suspension leaves a lot to be desired, particularly over the speed bumps. I seldom risk my Guzzi, which although smaller than the GS, can’t match the little Suzuki or my Honda Rebel 500 on the mean streets of London. I’ve found the best London rides are at dusk on a hot, long London evening in June. The City is magical late night in the summer. I prefer to head out your way for a decent ride in the summer. On a point of interest, unless I heard you wrong, although Ludgate Hill might be the highest point in the City, it’s not the highest point in London. And, popular to to common belief, Bow Bells are not in Bow but the bells of St-Mary-Le-Bow in Cheapside, which is why I can claim to be a Cockney although I was born nowhere near the East End. Next summer, you should try a vid along the Thames embankment between Hammersmith Bridge & Tower Bridge. In the right light, it’s a bewitching ride. I often ride it as a sort of city meditation. Carry on.
That was interesting, thanks for uploading. I took my daughter to Imperial college opening day last Thursday, we went up on the bike and I found the filtering tricky as the lanes from the M4 are very narrow! Free parking was great though as it was only 2 minutes from ICL.
DervMan Clever girl your daughter then?! Nice one....and yes I went to a concert (by car) at the Albert Hall a couple of weeks ago, that parking in Imperial College was super convenient....
I had a few day's in Paris recently and discovered that all the main landmarks are within walking distance. Unlike London which is of course much larger than Paris. Great video thanks
Hi TMF hope you're well, never really fancied bringing the GS into London but you're film was brill. Not as busy as I would of thought and may try it one day........I guess you don't pay the congestion charge. Well done mate nice vlogg Ride safe and kind regards ......PS going to try the GS down to Gibralta in a weeks time so look out for some footage.
Beans Hi Beans - good to hear from you again. Riding in London is great fun, I defo recommend it at least once (although the GS perhaps isn't the ideal bike for it) - and you are correct on the congestion charge + of course you get to ride the bus lanes, so it's all good!! Gibraltar eh? Sounds fantastic - looking forward to seeing your footage, have a great trip - all the best, TMF....
In UK: 1. Shrad 2. Bishop Gate 3. One Canada Square In Europe, One Canada Square is not even in first 10. Btw, i like this concrete jungle between Moorgate and Barbican. It is surprisingly secluded considering its position in central London. I got lost there once trying to find a shortcut to Barbican Station, took me 15 minutes to get out. Prices of flats there are nice too...2m and more for 3 bed.
You missed Leadenhall Street market which is a treasure hidden opposite the Lloyds building. It's a wonder of cast iron pillars and old buildings with many architectural delights. You'd also be surprised at the view of W1 from the top, there are a tremendous amount of sculptures and architectural embellishments on the top of buildings the average tourist never gets to see.
I used to do Aircon so have been on top of a few buildings round London... Considered the view of all that art and Architecture a bonus..:) Maybe you could ride the London Eye and show some? Good add for London but there are many interesting places out of London too.
i wonder how i could have missed this video 🤔 i remember the other one where you were pulled over by the police but i haven t seen this one... well okay... now i have 😉 great city. definitelly on my list to visit... cheers Tom
I've been lucky enough to visit many of the worlds top cities, New York, Rome, Paris, etc...and in my opinion London is one of the best if not THE best :0)
Yes, indeed, the last 5 minutes in East London/Stratford show similar hideous gigantic urban transformations to many places in Europe that took a poor derelict area where you would not want to live and turned them into a concrete and asphalt platform dumped from the air, only suitable for fast traffic, where you also would not want to live. Welcome to Olympic games capitals and their day-after. Actually many capitals in Europe have become like this in theri outer perimeter built upon during the late 20th century.
Rumor has it that after the Great Fire they had a chance to put in a grid system, but decided it was too expensive..Lucky you did the trip before the super cycle highways went in at Tower Hill..Very slow at the moment. Nice ride past most of the place i see on my way into work on the bike. (Its the only way)
Q3ToPBuZz You arte of course correct - I realised that just after I published the video...getting my Olympics mixed up :0) Well spotted though and thanks for watching all the way through! Did you spot my other error???
Thanks for the vid. Never been to the UK and I enjoyed the tour. Do you live in the east? I am planning on bringing my family to the west to visit Cornwall. That is where my family left to come to the "new world".
+Import916 Hi Import916 - yes, I live in the South east, about 30 miles North West of London - if you're coming over for a while then you should definitely try and get a few days in London, not THAT far from Cornwall, but completely different. Both are great places in their own way....hope you have a great trip and thanks for the kind words....TMF
When I was in London I stayed in the Kings cross area. When I arrived I took a cab to my hotel and the driver said it was a rough place to be then he took a good look at my and said you'll have no problem however... Made me laugh.
I did just got off a long flight and a train ride to Victoria station. Come to think of it he said I could save a bit and take the tubes to Kings cross and walk from there. Again long flight no interest in doing that.
gryphongryph Sorry - that's the trouble with the ol' GoPro's, no idea what you're shooting until after the event.....thanks for the kind words anyway - all the best - TMF
Don't know if you did this on Wednesday, which was mid summer's day but I spent what almost an hour trying to get down Regent Street for no other reason that sheer volume of traffic. I hasten to say I was not riding my bike!
I lost your channel but I ended up finding it again, so as I asked before, would it be worth visiting places like The Shard (London Bridge), Imperial War Museum (Bedlam) and all other places in SE and South London??
fivefootsixtriumph Hi FFST - nice to hear from you again. I find the Street Triple very comfortable and could tour on it all day no problems - 7 hours about my max on any bike. I'm 5'8......I won't ask how tall you are ;0)
Enjoyed your video but I'm afraid can't resist being pedantic! 1 Canada Square isn't even in the top 20 of tallest buildings in Europe. The Shard is the 4th tallest, but they qualify it with being the tallest in *Western* Europe.
Defo a country bumpkin lol lol you missed tobacco Docks lots of history and heritage when you said no mans land! Oh plus the VW dealership you went past was originally a Saab dealership haha You were actually 2 mins from my house whilst you were on Euston road underpass.
Mark Morris Hi Mark, I'm sure I'll be back at some point! Yes I do love Tobacco Dock (I used to work near there in Dock Street many years ago) but you have to admit Docklands is still somewhat remote from the rest of central London....I love to visit, but I don't envy you having to ride there every day! Be careful out there and thanks for watching/commenting. All the best - TMF (safely back in leafy Buckinghamshire ;0)
Nice tour, TMF. But it calls for a commentary on the ugliness of East London/Stratford, the last 5mins in the tour. AS in many Olympic games host cities, the day-after is gloomy and ugly. It left us plenty of asphalt and concrete, fast lanes and grey depressing surroundings, an area where nobody would want to live. So many millions dumped into this area and it feels like a waste; now it stays unused, off-limits to pedestrians and riders (how come the stadium and surrounding area are a no-go zone so long after the Olympic games!?), probably abandoned and going the way of decay and derelict! Add to that, absence of parking spaces, public transportation or green areas!
Is that really the case? I thought the area had been developed into some sort of community park, shops and housing? So much for Lord Coes lasting legacy!
Im not even into bikes or anything but I came across your channel by accident and I have to say it's quite a relaxing experience and you seem like a great person. Thanks for the videos.
Well thank you very much, it's very kind of you to say so - cheers!
Cheers mate! Safe travels!

I'ts my dream to visit London....thanks for showing us this beautiful city..
No worries Bobby, glad you enjoyed it - where are you watching from?
From a little country called Albania.... keep on the good work :)
Wow - isn't the internet great! .....unbelievable, a viewer in Albania!!!
Who are leaving for a new stadium just north west of Atlanta and the old Olympic/Turner Field will be leveled.

mulligers Cheers Mulligers - glad you find them of interest! All the best - TMF
My wife is based in High Wycombe (RAF) and I stumbled upon your neck of the woods recently. Very pleasant. Keep up the good work, maybe one day I'll bring my Mv up for a ride.

Brings back memories of being a bike cop working out of Euston before it closed in 2011. Cheers for the vid
Great stuff, cheers Rob....

Very knowledgeable! You've made me fancy a ride down to London.
Why not, now Summer is here it's a fabulous place to visit....just don't get bike-jacked!!
Haha that would be my only fear! May be a good place to do my first vlog as well.
That was interesting, thanks for uploading.

Hi TMF, at last I've managed to post on here, check out my first vlogg, no editing yet just checking stuff. Cheers mate ride safe
The tallest building in London and the EU is the Shard, one Canada square comes in at second in London.
+Nevets You are indeed quite correct....I'm obviously stuck in the 80's! :0)
Yep. Loved the video by the way. I hate driving through London in a car but on a bike it's great.
+Nevets Thanks for the kind words and yes, riding through is a whole different experience.....
In UK:
1. Shrad
2. Bishop Gate
3. One Canada Square
In Europe, One Canada Square is not even in first 10.
Btw, i like this concrete jungle between Moorgate and Barbican. It is surprisingly secluded considering its position in central London. I got lost there once trying to find a shortcut to Barbican Station, took me 15 minutes to get out.

Towards the end it looks a lot like the Homebush site where we had the Sydney Olympics in 2000
i wonder how i could have missed this video 🤔
i remember the other one where you were pulled over by the police but i haven t seen this one... well okay... now i have 😉
great city. definitelly on my list to visit...
cheers Tom
I've been lucky enough to visit many of the worlds top cities, New York, Rome, Paris, etc...and in my opinion London is one of the best if not THE best :0)
TheMissendenFlyer of course you have to say that 😉
...it's true!
A lot of these places look familiar ;)
Yes, indeed, the last 5 minutes in East London/Stratford show similar hideous gigantic urban transformations to many places in Europe that took a poor derelict area where you would not want to live and turned them into a concrete and asphalt platform dumped from the air, only suitable for fast traffic, where you also would not want to live. Rumor has it that after the Great Fire they had a chance to put in a grid system, but decided it was too expensive..Lucky you did the trip before the super cycle highways went in at Tower Hill..Very slow at the moment. Nice ride past most of the place i see on my way into work on the bike. (Its the only way)
+Michael Dignum agreed! ...not sure I'd want to do it every day though!
That's the "Orbit" mate, the "Birds Nest" is in Beijing.
Another cracking video, thanks for uploading.
Q3ToPBuZz You arte of course correct - I realised that just after I published the video...getting my Olympics mixed up :0) Well spotted though and thanks for watching all the way through! Did you spot my other error???
TheMissendenFlyer No I didnt, gonna have to watch again! hehe.
Q3ToPBuZz I'll save you the bother..... I said 1 Canada Square was Europe's tallest building - it is of course now the Shard!
TheMissendenFlyer Ah! I missed that one!
Did you stop for pie and mash? There's a couple of the original pie and mash shops not far from the DLR station across from the fish market.
Andrew Nichols Bother - I missed my chance!! Next time.....
Hi that was an interesting, Vid thanks
Stephen Mitchell You're welcome - thanks for saying so!
TheMissendenFlyer Hi keep the Vids coming
Stephen Mitchell will do!
When I arrived I took a cab to
my hotel and the driver said it was a rough place to be then he took a good look at my and said you'll have no problem however... Made me laugh.
Adventures With Bash? Did you leave him a tip??
5 pounds
Adventures With Bash? Crikey - generous given his cheek!
I did just got off a long flight and a train ride to
Victoria station. Come to think of it he said I could save a bit and take the tubes to Kings cross and walk from there. Again long flight no interest in doing that.
Great video, good commentary, really wanted to subscribe, however the subscribe popup which appeared a thousand times a minute put me right off.
+Jon Clarkson Easier to not subscribe than grow up?
Are you doing a 5000 sub special now you've reached it ?
Nice video, but would be better if the camera was tilted a bit more upwards, would make it easier to see the old buildings.
gryphongryph Sorry - that's the trouble with the ol' GoPro's, no idea what you're shooting until after the event.....thanks for the kind words anyway - all the best - TMF
I'm surprised you didn't venture south of the river to Greenwich observatory (the origin of GMT).
Is It Dead Yet? Good idea - maybe a South Bank version for Part 3 ;0)
Don't know if you did this on Wednesday, which was mid summer's day but I spent what almost an hour trying to get down Regent Street for no other reason that sheer volume of traffic. I hasten to say I was not riding my bike!
Peter Andrews Had me worried there for a minute!! ;0)
I lost your channel but I ended up finding it again, so as I asked before, would it be worth visiting places like The Shard (London Bridge), Imperial War Museum (Bedlam) and all other places in SE and South London??
Sure is....
Great vid (as always!), can I ask is that an MRA Screen on the bike please?
B Johnson Sure is! See >> th-cam.com/video/Da-jSnWaw3w/w-d-xo.htmlI'm a huge fan of these screens to stop turbulence....
Great video, unfortunately I get to see most of this from a truck these days, not my bike!
+Garry Clark Bad news :0(
Just curious, what is the longest time or trip you feel you could take on the Street Triple and be comfortable? Also, how tall are you?
fivefootsixtriumph Hi FFST - nice to hear from you again. I find the Street Triple very comfortable and could tour on it all day no problems - 7 hours about my max on any bike. I'm 5'8......I won't ask how tall you are ;0)
Nice vid though I feel the need to point out the shard at London Bridge is actually by far the tallest :-)
***** Hi Simba, quite right of course (though caught you out because I do make that correction later in the video!!) :0) Cheers and ride safe - TMF
TheMissendenFlyer ah must have missed that
Enjoyed your video but I'm afraid can't resist being pedantic! 1 Canada Square isn't even in the top 20 of tallest buildings in Europe. The Shard is the 4th tallest, but they qualify it with being the tallest in *Western* Europe.
your welcome
Great video as usual but your windscreen blocks too much. :(
+planedr Sorry about that - it's good at blocking the wind too! :0)
Defo a country bumpkin lol lol you missed tobacco Docks lots of history and heritage when you said no mans land! Oh plus the VW dealership you went past was originally a Saab dealership haha
You were actually 2 mins from my house whilst you were on Euston road underpass.
All the best - TMF (safely back in leafy Buckinghamshire ;0)
is your bike an bmw r1200?
+Lynden Pilcher Sure is - R1200GS TE to give it its full title.....see my review here >> th-cam.com/video/SZW6zh6NFPU/w-d-xo.html

...well spotted ;0)
