If I have my own drawing photos / or any photos that I feel very nice to use as my book cover, how can I make them into Canvo? Is there any particular size that my photo image needs to be? 2. I use free Canva at the moment so cannot easily modify ready made interiors but I do as you just said; I add my own front page or use a mixture of ready made pages to suit the title of the book. Thank you also for explaining that it is really adding elements rather than altering the colour of them. In the free version of Canva do we upload a PNG first then save it as a PDF for Amazon?
Yes, you can upload png and then download as pdf print. Somebody mentioned that they can upload pdfs on the free Canva version too, so you may want to try and see if that works for you.

"Creative Fabrica" and "Book bolt" are some common softwares used by many low content publishers to create the interiors of their books. So my question is 100's of people use these images and other resources (interior pages), is it safe to use them under amazon kdp guidelines? I mean is there a risk of breaching their copyright policy by using these images and pages? Thank you.
That's why it is so important to combine and modify your images. If you use them in combination it will be very difficult for two people to create the same end product.
Another good video, thanks. One thing - NO, you can't combine graphics from Creative Fabrica and sell this new design that contains ONLY graphics from CF. You must always add some other element to your design that was taken from other source than CF.
@@TheHomeBoss That's not what they told me. I asked them if I can combine graphics from CF and make new design to sell on tshirts and KDP books -the answer was no, I can't. They told me I must use other elements in my design from other sites. It's also in their Terms Of Use/License.
"Combine multiple products to create a 'new' design and sell that" - that's the one. I wanted to know more about this so I send them e-mail. You can't make design with only CF graphics :( Oh, and that don't apply to graphics with Full POD License :) But there are waaaaaay more cool graphics with only Basic POD :(
The only concern is that the prduct we created using Creative fabrica Graphics have to look unique than the one in the Creative FAbrica Website. There is nothing like "you have to use different image from different source etc." The final image we created have to be unique thats it. You can even see examples in CF webiste's pages too. . Thats what they told me. . Don't TRy to scare fellow beginners here.

You can only make 100 pages in Canva. If your book is above that page number you can make it in two separate designs and then use a pdf merge tool like ilovepdf.com
I would definitely like to see a video on how to find the right images in Canva, with a license for KDP commercial use. 18:39 Canva’s image licensing is confusing, and it’s such a hassle to research the license for each image that I want to use. It makes it harder to focus on the creative process when you always have to be worried about the licensing.
If you don't have the Canva Pro version, just use the free graphics provided and you're fine. If you have Pro, then you can also use the Pro graphics for books. For printables it's different but that is it for KDP.
@@TheHomeBoss The Pro images seem to have different licenses though. Many have the one-time use license, which I’m not sure what it means for KDP usage.

As a Canadian and using British spelling what should I do about word like "Colouring". Do you use the British spelling or the American? Do you use the spelling associated with the market you are listing as your primary market? Or does it not matter? Do you put both spellings into the keywords? Thanks
Personally I don't think it matters, I always use the British spelling and I still get sales. I think if you really wanted to, you could make two books with the different spelling and publish them on the individual market places that you want to target. But I don't think American's mind so much if they get a book that spells it 'colouring' instead of 'coloring' and the same here in the UK, people buy books with American spelling.
The problem with free sites is that anybody can upload images and they may not have the rights to do so. It's a bit risky. I will make a video on this subject soon.

Multi-day seasonal events (for example, Christmas) should start no more than approx. 8 weeks prior to the event and have an end date within a reasonable time frame of the event, such as 7 days. For example, your ad may read "Christmas sale" when the campaign end date is after February 20. Please update your ad with the relevant details. What does it mean ? Please clarify..
Why would you want to use the word spiral? It could easily confuse customers thinking that they are buying a spiral bound book which is not possible to produce on KDP. Amazon would look at this as trying to deceive the customer, so no, it's not a good idea.
This is exactly why I found my way to Amazon KDP. I love creating designs digitally. I am also hoping to create my own designs using Procreate, to make them totally unique.

That is impossible to answer without knowing anything about your books. Your cover designs, your interiors and your niches have a big part to play. Whether you advertise or promote has also a big part to play. Keywords is only a small part of the whole, making books that are of value to the buyers is the key.

Thank you Nuria, do you have a video about comparing licensing conditions for design, images and interiors at different stock libraries? I did read the CF and Canva license information but it is quite complex. Especially if unsubscribe from the subscription.
Every site has slight differences in their licences and it can sound quite complicated but I think it's not actually that bad. The main thing to remember is to combine images or elements. Once a subscription ends, you can not make any new designs but the ones that you have already made are yours to keep, you don't need to unpublish anything.
Wow , I have gone through many comments here thinking may be someone might ask questions that I'm about to ask . Firstly , like 5 months are gone already after creating 2 low contents and 1high content but nothing to show for it till now . My question is that can't i create best selling kdp interiors especially when I don't have money to subscribe or purchase template from site or app like Tangent template , book bolt , creative fabrica since there are no free versions because I have tried it and none of them supported free versions up till now . Also , I created all my low contents designs from resources on line and could that be the reason for no result in kdp . This thing is weighing me down because if I look at the time and effort I sacrificed to put this thing together . May be this thing is not working for me as you said earlier ......I don't know what is going on ....... because I don't have anything on me to buy courses or applications to make this thing right . My only hope is to start from nothing and become something but it is not always easy . Some TH-camrs are even encouraging one to focus on High content books since it will get reads at least and kdp is going to pay for it .

Unfortunately we can only have 100 pages on Canva. But remember that with a lot of low content books the pages are the same or repeated, so you only need to upload the ones that you want to change, and then you can use a tool like ilovepdf.com to combine or organise them. Thank you so much for your wonderful channel! So clear and easy to understand. I am new to KDP World and still trying to figure out the basics. Question: are some interiors you upload from Creative Fabrica (or anywhere, I suppose, just that mine was from CF) NOT modifiable, at all? I tried modifying by adding a graphical element to the first page, it appeared to take it fine, but when I downloaded it and tried to upload to KDP, KDP kept telling me that the interior I uploaded was 8.5 x 11, but my book dimensions were 6 x 9. When I replaced it with the original interior (no extra graphic and it is definitely 6 x 9 interior) it took it fine. Any thoughts on why this occurs would be so welcome. Many thanks! PS...I was using Canva to edit....
I imagine there was a mistake somewhere in either the pdf you created or in the ready-made interior. You can check the sizes before you upload them, that usually makes it clearer.

Nuria, what do you suggest we do if we buy designs from scratch from Fiverr sellers? Yes, I've searched and they're not Creative Fabrica bundles or something. Do I have them sign a document?
I have never bought anything from a fiverr designer before so I'm probably not the best person to answer. However, from what I have seen it is really important that you ask them to confirm that this is a unique design, and that you have exclusivity. Normally if a designer makes a design under those rules, they tend to be very expensive. I'd be careful if it's not expensive, I would assume that they are selling this design multiple times.
Hi! Thank you for this video. However, I can't wait to see the next video, because I am so scared about the copyright thing that I can't bring myself to upload anything. That and trying to figure out what to name or how to create a logo in order to brand my work. As I do not want to post anything without putting some sort of trademark/logo on my work. Another thing that I would like to learn about is how you can post things to sell on Etsy or other places to keep other people from stealing your work. I heard something called, "flattening," I believe that's the word...lol... How do you do that and do I need to do that for Amazon, as well? Thank you for your help and your great videos. Hi, thank you for subbing and for watching! Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to stop people from copying your work. However, you can report them to Amazon KDP or Etsy, whichever platform you are using and they take copying very seriously. Flattening a pdf is nothing to do with copying, it's just the name of a process that you sometimes have to follow to make your images print properly, especially when using Canva. If you are careful not to infringe on copyright or trademark, then there is nothing to worry about, it's just that a lot of people just copy things not realising that you can't do that.
Hello Nuria. I must say I keep going backwards and forwards to your videos as it helps to remember all the information about KDP. I find this one very helpful, especially when one doesn’t want to copy anybody and use the graphics wisely. However, I’m getting a little bit confused about Creative Fabrica (I’m a subscriber) if it’s about making stickers. I’ve been thinking about printing stickers as a side hustle. The licence says it’s ok not to change the design (I hope I understood this one right). Still, I have doubts about it. Creative Fabrica sent me rather unclear email back when replying to my email. Is it better to stick with my gut feeling and modify the graphics? Thanks in advance.
Hi Anna, unfortunately I have no experience in making stickers. It's a shame that Creative Fabrica couldn't clarify this for you, I think I would probably ask them again if their answer wasn't clear. I guess if you modify the graphics you'd definitely be safe as it would be a different design altogether, but as I said, I've never made stickers so I don't know unfortunately.
Hi there, thank you for all your advices in your video. I have a huge problem and maybe you can help. I Bought tangent template and created a book with some of there remokates. As I design my books with Canva I had to convert the pdf templates to jpeg in oder to put my design in it. After uploading everything to KDP the preview showed that lines in those templates were missing. I tried optimizing the pdf templates, I tried converting them in png...all work combining the book three times, nothing worked. It's kind of urgend as the book is for a course that is already running... Can you HELP me? What do I have to do that the TT Templates show all their lines when used in designing a book.
No, a lined note book is always a lined notebook and the same goes for graph paper books or blank sketch books. However, you can make them unique by adding small details if you want to. I don't, I just make the covers really unique and attractive for notebooks and that's working for me. Anything you can do to make your books unique is a good thing though, so customise your books as much as you wish. Best of luck!

Hi! New to all this and have a question (unrelated to this particular video). If I want to make puzzle books, is it okay to make lists / word banks that mention famous people or phrases and list my book as in the public domain (or whatever the option was) rather than I own the rights, and it'll be okay? Or would that still be some sort of copyright / trademark issue to do this? Like I wanted to have a puzzle that lists movies to watch during Halloween (doing a Halloween-themed puzzle book), and I'm worried that listing movie titles will get me into trouble. Would it? Thanks in advance! Btw, I love your videos. I watched your series of How to get started videos a few weeks ago, and I've published 4 lined notebooks so far. I'm wanting to branch into puzzle books and maybe coloring books (though I have no clue how to make a coloring book). Just figuring stuff out right now. :)
Personally, I would stay away from anything that could potentially bring trademark or copyright infringement problems. You would have to research this very well and maybe get legal advice rather than relying on information online. There are so many other types of puzzle books that you can make without any problems, and especially if you're just starting, I would start with something simpler. I'm really happy you already made 4 lined notebooks and you're absolutely right to move onto something more advanced now. So excited for you! Wishing you all the best!
I have a question so I’m asking it here instead of you fb group - I don’t have Facebook. If I wanted to use a cover design that I used for a notebook for a planner or a different kind or size notebook, would that be discouraged? I could slightly change the cover and maybe the title, but I would still want it to be kinda the same. Is it frowned upon or could they be listed as part of a series?
Unfortunately you can't make low content books into a series, that's really more for higher content books. Or you could make some types of colouring books into a series if they somehow go together. Having the same design on books is not what a series is about and it's also not a good idea. Amazon prefers unique books, although there is no specific rule against it. The only time I use the same kind of book cover (with a colour variation) is for books in different languages, so if I produce a book in English and then translate it to Spanish or German, I use the same cover with a colour variation. Hope that helps.

A quick question...for some reason I have a hard time downloading zip files into Canva,like tangent template interiors or creative fabrics fonts..what am I doing wrong? I'm new at this.:)

@@09Amaris You can't upload all file types, just jpegs and pngs and now also pdf but you have to do that by starting a new design, rather than uploading to uploads. You need to have the correct file type and the correct file size.

1) How do we know if the background res is big enough to spread it out to the whole page of the book when printing? I am worry if the image size is not big enough, it may be blur when printing?

Depending on where you get your images from, it will tell you. Always use 300dpi for colour images.

Thank you Nuria, do you have a video about comparing licensing conditions for design, images and interiors at different stock libraries? I did read the CF and Canva license information but it is quite complex. Especially if unsubscribe from the subscription.
Every site has slight differences in their licences and it can sound quite complicated but I think it's not actually that bad. The main thing to remember is to combine images or elements. Once a subscription ends, you can not make any new designs but the ones that you have already made are yours to keep, you don't need to unpublish anything.
Wow , I have gone through many comments here thinking may be someone might ask questions that I'm about to ask . Firstly , like 5 months are gone already after creating 2 low contents and 1high content but nothing to show for it till now .
My question is that can't i create best selling kdp interiors especially when I don't have money to subscribe or purchase template from site or app like Tangent template , book bolt , creative fabrica since there are no free versions because I have tried it and none of them supported free versions up till now .
Also , I created all my low contents designs from resources on line and could that be the reason for no result in kdp . This thing is weighing me down because if I look at the time and effort I sacrificed to put this thing together .
May be this thing is not working for me as you said earlier ......I don't know what is going on ....... because I don't have anything on me to buy courses or applications to make this thing right . My only hope is to start from nothing and become something but it is not always easy .
Some TH-camrs are even encouraging one to focus on High content books since it will get reads at least and kdp is going to pay for it .

Unfortunately we can only have 100 pages on Canva. But remember that with a lot of low content books the pages are the same or repeated, so you only need to upload the ones that you want to change, and then you can use a tool like ilovepdf.com to combine or organise them. Thank you so much for your wonderful channel! So clear and easy to understand. I am new to KDP World and still trying to figure out the basics. Question: are some interiors you upload from Creative Fabrica (or anywhere, I suppose, just that mine was from CF) NOT modifiable, at all? I tried modifying by adding a graphical element to the first page, it appeared to take it fine, but when I downloaded it and tried to upload to KDP, KDP kept telling me that the interior I uploaded was 8.5 x 11, but my book dimensions were 6 x 9. When I replaced it with the original interior (no extra graphic and it is definitely 6 x 9 interior) it took it fine. Any thoughts on why this occurs would be so welcome. Many thanks! PS...I was using Canva to edit....
I imagine there was a mistake somewhere in either the pdf you created or in the ready-made interior. You can check the sizes before you upload them, that usually makes it clearer.

Nuria, what do you suggest we do if we buy designs from scratch from Fiverr sellers? Yes, I've searched and they're not Creative Fabrica bundles or something. Do I have them sign a document?
I have never bought anything from a fiverr designer before so I'm probably not the best person to answer. However, from what I have seen it is really important that you ask them to confirm that this is a unique design, and that you have exclusivity. Normally if a designer makes a design under those rules, they tend to be very expensive. I'd be careful if it's not expensive, I would assume that they are selling this design multiple times.
Hi! Thank you for this video. However, I can't wait to see the next video, because I am so scared about the copyright thing that I can't bring myself to upload anything. That and trying to figure out what to name or how to create a logo in order to brand my work. As I do not want to post anything without putting some sort of trademark/logo on my work. Another thing that I would like to learn about is how you can post things to sell on Etsy or other places to keep other people from stealing your work. I heard something called, "flattening," I believe that's the word...lol... How do you do that and do I need to do that for Amazon, as well? Thank you for your help and your great videos. Hi, thank you for subbing and for watching! Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to stop people from copying your work. However, you can report them to Amazon KDP or Etsy, whichever platform you are using and they take copying very seriously. Flattening a pdf is nothing to do with copying, it's just the name of a process that you sometimes have to follow to make your images print properly, especially when using Canva. If you are careful not to infringe on copyright or trademark, then there is nothing to worry about, it's just that a lot of people just copy things not realising that you can't do that.

Hello Nuria. I must say I keep going backwards and forwards to your videos as it helps to remember all the information about KDP. I find this one very helpful, especially when one doesn’t want to copy anybody and use the graphics wisely. However, I’m getting a little bit confused about Creative Fabrica (I’m a subscriber) if it’s about making stickers. I’ve been thinking about printing stickers as a side hustle. The licence says it’s ok not to change the design (I hope I understood this one right). Still, I have doubts about it. Creative Fabrica sent me rather unclear email back when replying to my email. Is it better to stick with my gut feeling and modify the graphics? Thanks in advance.
Hi Anna, unfortunately I have no experience in making stickers. It's a shame that Creative Fabrica couldn't clarify this for you, I think I would probably ask them again if their answer wasn't clear. I guess if you modify the graphics you'd definitely be safe as it would be a different design altogether, but as I said, I've never made stickers so I don't know unfortunately.

Hi there, thank you for all your advices in your video. I have a huge problem and maybe you can help. I Bought tangent template and created a book with some of there remokates. As I design my books with Canva I had to convert the pdf templates to jpeg in oder to put my design in it. After uploading everything to KDP the preview showed that lines in those templates were missing. I tried optimizing the pdf templates, I tried converting them in png...all work combining the book three times, nothing worked. It's kind of urgend as the book is for a course that is already running...
Can you HELP me? What do I have to do that the TT Templates show all their lines when used in designing a book.

No, a lined note book is always a lined notebook and the same goes for graph paper books or blank sketch books. However, you can make them unique by adding small details if you want to. I don't, I just make the covers really unique and attractive for notebooks and that's working for me. Anything you can do to make your books unique is a good thing though, so customise your books as much as you wish. Best of luck!

Canva does not do over 100 pages. Have to do several PDFs and merge them.

Hi! New to all this and have a question (unrelated to this particular video). If I want to make puzzle books, is it okay to make lists / word banks that mention famous people or phrases and list my book as in the public domain (or whatever the option was) rather than I own the rights, and it'll be okay? Or would that still be some sort of copyright / trademark issue to do this? Like I wanted to have a puzzle that lists movies to watch during Halloween (doing a Halloween-themed puzzle book), and I'm worried that listing movie titles will get me into trouble. Would it? Btw, I love your videos. I watched your series of How to get started videos a few weeks ago, and I've published 4 lined notebooks so far. I'm wanting to branch into puzzle books and maybe coloring books (though I have no clue how to make a coloring book). Just figuring stuff out right now. :)
Personally, I would stay away from anything that could potentially bring trademark or copyright infringement problems. You would have to research this very well and maybe get legal advice rather than relying on information online. There are so many other types of puzzle books that you can make without any problems, and especially if you're just starting, I would start with something simpler. I'm really happy you already made 4 lined notebooks and you're absolutely right to move onto something more advanced now. So excited for you! Wishing you all the best!

Check if the licence covers you, I don't really trust free images. Also remember to do a reverse Google search to be safe.

If I wanted to use a cover design that I used for a notebook for a planner or a different kind or size notebook, would that be discouraged? I could slightly change the cover and maybe the title, but I would still want it to be kinda the same. Is it frowned upon or could they be listed as part of a series?
Unfortunately you can't make low content books into a series, that's really more for higher content books. Or you could make some types of colouring books into a series if they somehow go together. Having the same design on books is not what a series is about and it's also not a good idea. Amazon prefers unique books, although there is no specific rule against it. The only time I use the same kind of book cover (with a colour variation) is for books in different languages, so if I produce a book in English and then translate it to Spanish or German, I use the same cover with a colour variation. No, but if you are repeating pages you would only have to change one page and then just duplicate them.

Yes you can, don't worry. You can't change your title, subtitle and author name but you can upload a new cover and even a new interior.

You mean uploading, you have to unzip them with 7zip, it is free.

@@09Amaris You can't upload all file types, just jpegs and pngs and now also pdf but you have to do that by starting a new design, rather than uploading to uploads. You need to have the correct file type and the correct file size.
