I just watched this video. You and your mother are amazing! I got a bit choked up watching the two of you. I lost my daughter at the end of 2019. We were like you and your mother, we really enjoyed doing things like this together. I totally loved watching you two build this. Very clever ideas.

What a simple elegant design. I've got a few myself and a couple of suggestions that I'd make are:
    1. Use proper heat tape available from tunnel manufacturers. The foam used will degrade quickly.
    2. If you have batons left over then make frames that sit inside the window frame. Cover one with plastic for winter and with insect mesh for summer. To keep them in place make a few swivel locks (3cm wide X 6cm long with a hole at one end) to fit around the frame. If your velcro weathers well then stick with it.
    3. Where the gutter meets the roof use some repair tape to bridge from one to the other. Gives 100% capture.
    4. It may be an idea to fill the beds before putting the plastic on just for ease of access.
    5. Where you stapled the plastic to the frame I would add batons. My staples rusted and broke.
I've subscribed and look forward to seeing your next videos.

Them cheap poly tunnels are brilliant when they are new but just do not last! Wise move making your own. Use linseed oil as a natural safe wood preserver. and also joints on the metal frames stops the rust. Beehives and bird houses decades old using linseed and sometimes a mix with 5-30% beeswax. Even the raised bed is in its 12th year. No sign of rot yet. Hope this helps

I am so pleased to see such an easy to understand and follow set of instructions for a home built poly house .for years I've been using an old green house frame covered in vinyl sheeting from the range but some local bored children came into my huge garden and totally destroyed it.
I will be giving this a go next year funds are limited this year

Hi Jessie, I ended up on your channel whilst looking for a small polytunnel and I'm so glad I did. I watched you & your mum building yours with great interest. What a fabulous job you've both made of it. Brilliant! Well done.
I have an area near to my shed in my back garden which will give me protection from any strong wind and also give me sunshine for 7 or 8 hours a day in summer. You've given me inspiration to have a go myself if I can get my wife to help me as your mum did.

What an excellent focussed topic - a great #SaturdaySpecial. It must have been when you were adding the side windows that I first happened across your YT channel, episode 4 or 5 I guess. I jumped back to the start and have followed along with your allotment adventuring ever since. Cutting the plastic for the door and windows would have been stressful to me - not wanting to fudge it up at such a critical stage! I use a Ryobi battery powered stapler gun to line pallet planters that I make - and that is such a fun job! Pew, pew, pew!!

Hi Jess. Have been thinking of "copy cat" building a polytunnel greenhouse on my allotment plot but as we have been experiencing gale force winds in the southeast I'm wondering how yours is holding up. Because of this I maybe make mine in removeable sections to be screwed back on to the main frame in the spring ready for the new growing season. Love your fantastic programs.

Can I say well done! If you could add a triangle bit of wood into the frame it will be much stronger! Also well done for lining the beds as the treatment chemicals in the decking boards to stop the rotting are nasty and not something you want to grow food up against.

Thank you for the video, exactly my experience! The bought polytunnel ended up in the swimming pool, didn't even last one year. Here is Spain we have industrial strength winds in the winter. If you want to come to Spain and run a workshop, you are very welcome! We tend to need shade houses in the summer and a grow house in the winter but we have essentially an all year season, if we get it right... Sonja x

A real good job and looks very neat. Only thing I would suggest to maybe prolong the poly life......screw lengths of roof batten on the outside onto the frame, this will clamp the poly more rather than relying on the screws and washers...It would stand up better to strong winds 😀
