    Love hear Defect Detectors on the Main Lines like CSX and Norfolk Southern on the Railroad Radio Scanners as a Railroad Spotter when spotting trains for anywhere I'm at, like Deshler, Ohio: CSX DEF-NB Main Line Division: CSX Equipment Defect Detector Mile Post 60.3, Track 1 or Track 2, No Defects (×2), Total Axle: Numbers. End of Transmission. for example. Awesome video!

    I was a CSX engineer (retired) been gone for almost 15 years. Interesting that NS DDs only say "no defects" without giving an axle count or train length, like CSX detectors now do. Most of the CSX detectors did not give train length 15 years ago. Also, what is a "stress detector"? That's a new one on me. Is it anything like a wheel impact detector?

    • @RaisedLetter
      @RaisedLetter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep it does the same functions as a wheel impact detector but also detects load imbalances.

    I heard back in 2020 the CSX defect detector milepost 508.1 at Huntington West Virginia it was use a model of progress rail but right now they are replacing it into STC smartscan NG2 but they changed a milepost 508.1 into 507.1

    Pretty cool complation you got there! How many original ConRail Defect Detectors are still around as of 2022?

    • @RaisedLetter
      @RaisedLetter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In terms of detectors first installed by Conrail, there's a high clearance detector in Reading, PA at CP Belt. Reads out NS but it's a Devtronics SCAT that Conrail would have installed.
      Another possible Conrail classic is in South Plainfield, NJ on the Port Reading Secondary. Harmon Cyberscan 2000. That could be a CSAO install or even better a reused Conrail detector.

    I think the one in Cary at MP 168.3 is actually the Aberdeen subdivision. It’s completely separate from the south end subdivision which is through Selma, Rocky Mount, Benson, & Fayetteville North Carolina.

    Great video with 31 detectors!
    By the way, what do Stress and Derailment Detectors do?

    • @RaisedLetter
      @RaisedLetter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Derailment Detectors literally are there in case an axle derails anywhere on the train (pretty self explanatory). The stress detectors I beleive are there to detect if loads have shifted thus creating more stress on one side of the rails.
