The 80's artists were so Amazing. George Michael wrote the whole album by himself and I think he played most of the instruments also. This is unheard of today.
Too right! I remember when I learned that (back in '88), that he was like another Prince in that aspect: write, produce, play--do the whole album thing himself! A most well-deserved Album of the Year winner!
He held his own with singers like Aretha Franklin and they accepted him because he was a true artist not just a pretty pop singer. Will miss the man greatly.
And your wrong wicked devil he had 3 songs with Mary J blige, Aretha franklin and Whitney Houston your 1 number off check yourself before u wreck yourself Satan lol..

Good dancing, good man, good performance, good music, good quality of entertainment. Love a lot of George Michael music. Tragic young ending. RIP George. Missed by many people.

That was the time when he conquered the world as a solo artist. Gorgeous and sexy, heavenly voice, perfect dancer, an exceptional talent in writing and producing his own songs. He was talented enough to obtain absolute fame - and then philosophical enough to turn his back on it. This is the amazing George.

There was still more music for you to bless us with. Thanks for the memories.

I bet this was one hell of a good concert. Could George ever move!! He was not only physically beautiful, but also musically gifted! He will always be my favourite male singer
You're right, George Michael never did anything to help anyone. Probably would've been better off coming on TH-cam to patronise people, now THAT'S how you benefit society.
In a retrospective interview about the album in 2010, Michael noted that the song was inspired by a friend of his dealing with drug and alcohol addiction but he didn't know how to help her. He used the term monkey to refer to her addiction. He asked his friend: Do you love the monkey or do you love me?
To dance like this in his live shows and still sing Pitch Perfect is not at all easy to do. One of the many things George could do that others could never which made him such a standout performer.
It's normal for performers who dance throughout the whole show to lip sync... sometimes they even record looser "live" versions of their songs so it's not so obvious.
AJ K I was watching his 1990 documentary yesterday, and it showed behind-the-scenes footage of him in the studio recording his second solo album, Listen Without Prejudice. He was movin' and groovin' in the recording booth as he recorded the album. ☺
If u grew up listening to George Micheal from the beginning of his career all the way till he left us then u know how important this man was to the world, George micheals passing hit me harder than Micheal and prince, his music will never die, every song he sang or collabed on will be timeless, at 17 this man made the best slow song ever, he also made the best pop song ever, careless whisper, everything she wants. George Micheal will always be everything 2 me.
YES! First video I saw "Bad Boys" on that show that came on late Friday and showed videos? Anyway, I liked that song, thought they (Wham!) were cute. The more I saw and heard, the more I loved them. Then, George just kept getting sexier and sexier! Bless and rest his soul
***** I'm so inclined to agree - there was definitely some interesting evolution in popular music from the 80s through the 90s and even into the early-mid 2000s with some innovative musicians and technology - however, I think for the better part of a decade now, there hasn't been much new that is really noteworthy at all. I'm not sure if it's "It's all been done" syndrome or "everybody with a laptop"...and a lack of investment by the industry..
+David G I'm going to add to this scenario since I used to be in the Music Industry back in the early 1990's when I was in my early 20's. In my experiences and opinion, I think the record labels today do not take the chances that they did back in the 1970's, 1980's, and on into the very early 2000's. I feel that the 1980's was the revolution of the music industry and definitely the music culture of those days changed as each year went by. Listen to a Pop song of let's say - 1983, and then listen to this Pop song of 1988. There is a huge evolutionary (or revolutionary; whichever fits the best) difference in the instrumentation, the charting, the melodies, and the daring lyrics used, especially in some of the iconic artists such as George Michael, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Boy George, etc. The pivotal axis of the history of music now revolves around this particular decade (1980's). We live it, breathe it, repeat it (if all possible), and it molds a lot of lives in so many different aspects. That's my two cents worth. :-)
***** So much of that evolution over those years, specifically, that you describe has so much to do with technological evolution too.... the birth of digial and PCM sample-based synthesis (and samplers _themselves_ hence NWA and hip-hop itself during that same timeframe...) vs the analog synthesizers used from the days of Pink Floyd and the Doors in through the New Wave of the early 80s... When I bought one of those modules above I had a blast finding the specific drums and sounds used on those records specifically.. Like Milli Vanillis "Girl you know it's true" is Korg's preset "Orchestra Hits"... As far as I'm aware, Kurzweil was the first in this technology development though with his development of the PCM synthesis board in collaboration with Stevie Wonder and appearing in the video "Part Time Lover" 1984/5(??).. Chaka Khan's "I feel for you" . --. wow, was that a breakthrough in it's day!! Now, all of the interesting sonic innovation is on the front of sequencing computer processing effects themsleves from the sounds of Skrillex to the atmospheric super ducking/pump-compression of Purity Ring...
David G The technology is a major key in the music evolution. I think, too, that too many artists rely on computers to enhance their sound, and quality, along with vocals, etc. I do think, though, that the only music these days that has a slight evolutionary sound is underground Electronic Music (Bear In Heaven, Animal Collective, Goldfrapp, Depeche Mode, etc).
George Michael, the most beautiful, brightest star in heaven. Thank you for your gift to earth. Only for a brief moment, but we lived it with him. We lived in his lifetime. We were blessed.
I'm currently 17 I discovered george and fell in love with his music last year, it's sad that I recognized his talent after his death... For some reason I feel like somewhere in my past life I listened to him 😂😂😂 I just feel attached to his music you know?
The great thing his music (and all music really) is how it may make you feel, or interpret it at different periods in your life. Father Figure today means something completely different than it did 30 years ago. I also preferred his pop tracks like this back then, but love his slower ballads now. You'll find out as you go along..=)
Same I found out about George a year after he died back in march 2018. It started when I first heard "Everything She Wants" on the radio, the more I heard that song come on, I just thought it was really catchy and before I knew it, it became one of favorite songs, I love other songs of George Michael, Wham songs like "Wake me up before you go go" and "Freedom" "Wham Rap" "Last Christmas" and "Freedom 90! "Father Figure" and as now, this one. He was really talented with an amazing voice, one of the best male voices I've ever heard, too bad I didn't discover his music when he was alive. Maybe you've probably heard his music when you were a child but you never knew it was him. Who knows? 😂😂😂
No one will ever replace him, he was just amazing.

If this song were to be released now in 2016 it would be number one in the States...again
I'd say that still applies in 2022!! BEST ever in all categories. 🔥🔥🔥
#truth
He looked SO cute.
Even 2046
En 2022 aussi...❤️💯👏
Like Stevie Wonder, George Michael’s music ages like fine wine.
The 80's artists were so Amazing. George Michael wrote the whole album by himself and I think he played most of the instruments also. This is unheard of today.
Charles Mendias....So true ! George was all around talented...the real deal.
@Lawrence Rodriguez Not to mention that they don't have George's tremendous all around talent. GM was on a whole other level !
George wrote and sang the songs, but he also arranged the music and produced his albums and the videos.Amazing talent.
Too right! I remember when I learned that (back in '88), that he was like another Prince in that aspect: write, produce, play--do the whole album thing himself! A most well-deserved Album of the Year winner!
Facts.
He held his own with singers like Aretha Franklin and they accepted him because he was a true artist not just a pretty pop singer. Will miss the man greatly.
He liked singing with black women I notice.
And your wrong wicked devil he had 3 songs with Mary J blige, Aretha franklin and Whitney Houston your 1 number off check yourself before u wreck yourself Satan lol..
Bye Lucifer enjoy hell lol!!!! ur a reprobate, waste of time u will enjoy hell with ur buddy George Michael...
He was most definitely Pretty beautiful even but his talent outshines everything. Wrote. Sang.and Produced his own music. Not many artists did that besides GM and Prince. George was the Goat.
ArseneWenger I love him and will miss him forever and this is a great song and video!!!
Good dancing, good man, good performance, good music, good quality of entertainment. Love a lot of George Michael music. Tragic young ending. RIP George. Missed by many people.
He's gorgeous physically and spiritually. He once said he can't give enough respect to parents who lost children. As a mother who lost her young song, this cemented my position as a huge HUGE fan and admirer. Siempre. He is with God and his works live on.
Those dance moves are so perfectly synced with the beats
Thanks for liking my comments
He was perfect !!!!!!!
@@louisescutti1998 yes he was and ain’t nobody like him till now
Paula Abdul did some choreography for that tour but idk if any of the moves in this video are hers
@@kristinazubic9669 could be , but George was better known for his own dance moves , his own charisma , his own dressing sense , his own voice, his generosity, it’s a huge list you see but thanks for bringing up name of another artist
This song has everything that makes a great George Michael song: slamming groovy bass line, sky-high vocals, and George looking fine af.
Did you know he worked with James "Jimmy Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis who also worked with The Human League and Janet Jackson.
True
laminage, that's very interesting regarding whom George collaborated with.
Thanks for the compliment. The relationship with The Brits & Americans in terms of Collaborating still exists. In fact did you know that Choreographer Fatima Robinson who worked on Dreamgirls (Film Version) not to mention The Live Performance of The Wiz (National Broadcasting Company) also worked with Cheryl Tweedy, former Member Of Girls Aloud who did the Choreography for her Solo Concert
He's fine with a great presonally
After all these years, still one of the best voices ever. And this song: One of the best songs to which to dance one's ass off! Loved dancing to this in Minneapolis at the 90s on the off-night Mondays, when I could request or even bring my CDs and the great DJ would play this and other great 80s Brit Pop. Long live George. Love the hat!
Gay, straight...I don't give a f*ck: he was and will always be a LEGEND!!!
Andrea Bocelli is not a sightless person he is a singer.
Lyana S. I want to set my monkey free over a field of vaginas 😍😍😍
@@gabrielzamudio3001 Addiction ya mean? Bruh 💀
Saw him in Boston during his Faith tour in 1988. Best concert ever, right behind Sade. The 80's, best decade for music.
Aoede Montague That would have been a great show
Telling you.. as a school aged girl seeing George Michael in this video with that hat and suspenders..the word obsessed comes to mind.So much from my childhood id gone.RIP George Michael.
Joeann Chaney agreed...
Every single girl in my junior high school and high school wanted this guy BADLY. It was not even funny.
I’d rush home from school with my best friend so we could watch this video on the countdown.
Do you remember Dana Carvey portraying him for an SNL skit when the "Faith" album came out?
So incredibly hilarious talking about GM's butt and that no one could ignore or deny it! Good lord this man still makes me quiver.
Man touring in the 80's and 90's was awesome
2024 I still watching and listening..how about you..???!
With love from Moscow!10.07.24.
With Love from Türkiye.. 🎶🌍🎵
yep
My musical genius... George didn't needed anybody on stage only himself..... greatest Singer... songwriter performer til this day ...whit the most beautiful voice.....no one til this day gomes even close to him.....miss him ❤️🙏 heaven stole him way to early 🙏❤️
I don't care that he was gay. He also had experience with women. Songs written just for them. He was so sexy, talented, charismatic, charming, educated, eloquent, intelligent...
And kind
This song is smokin; as is George! I loved his dancing, singing, he was gorgeous......perfect facial hair, and beautiful hair. This guy had it all. I LOVE this song!
Is, was, and forever will be the greatest talent of his generation.
One Of My Favorite Songs by George Michael 😍
He was so hypnotic! What a flawless man 😍Still loving you George!!
Mich Mel i miss him so much cant explain it
I feel the same I can sum him up in one word flawless such a awesome voice full of heart and soul
He doesn’t have enough of a stage, he needs a whole runway! I love it!
Hard to believe that he is gone. I always loved everything about him and him ♥ always will
So 😢 sadden by his death..I grew up with his music I'm 52 and feel as if my favorite artists are leaving so soon RIP George Michael fly high..God has chosen another great soul
Mary Ann Virella Yes! It feels like a piece of your life is taken away when we lose these artists! I think it hits us so hard because we're faced with our own mortality. Whatever it is, it's a very discomforting feeling to lose pieces of your past like this.
Vixen Kitten yes!! 😢
Vixen Kitten this touch my heart, 1love.
Such an insane song on substance abuse. A monkey is such a great metaphor for drug addiction. Insane that he wrote these songs at 24.
George was a GENIUS &
a ADONIS❤❤❤
George said that he wrote that song for Kathy that he was with. He was upset because she took up cocain and he hated that. Eventually he let her go.
I'm totally crushed hearing the news of George passing away💔😢💔😢....George u will never be forgotten, your songs will live on forever and I will love you forever😘
He gave people that he loved writing credits on his songs so that they would be set financially. That shows how thoughtful and generous he was.
George was one of the most generous people he donated over 20 million dollars to charity and the proceeds from Last Christmas go for charity
A music genius! That voice, the way he danced, and he was so handsome!
As a kid in the 80's I was 100% obsessed with him.
I had door posters, vinyls, T-Shirts and over 130 pics of him from Teen Beat and Pop! and displayed them all during 4th grade "show and tell". 😂
George was, is and always will be glorious!
George Michael was one the most soulful White artists since KC & the Sunshine Band & Teena Marie!
Think you!
Also he and Robin Thicke hold the distinction of being a White Artist to have a Number One Album on Billboard's R & B Chart
Rest in peace, George, Michael, and the bass player that plays for George Michael
Such an underrated song. I've always thought it was one of his best.
That album was fantastic.
I like this version better than the album version
it wasn't underrated at all. One of his biggest and top 5 of mine. Missed everyday George. RIP
I-Love-Everything79 exactly this is what made me by the Album
@@jorgearias3940 I actually discovered it from a video that shows billboard's #1s hits from the 80s
He had it all..stunning looks.. beautiful body, angel voice, great dancer, piano player..I can't believe he's gone.
Yo THIS WAS THE SHIT !!! ANYONE ALIVE IN THE 80S KNOWS HOW TALENTED HE WAS AND WERE CRUSHED TO LOSE HIM...
Love the hat! The boy could dance, such a serious and catchy song.
Seeing this live was beyond epic! - He gave his ALL for each and every concert. Ran around like a lunatic - looking amazing & came out for 3 encores for each concert. Rest In Peace sweet Yog (George)
Wow ! I wish I would have been there ! George and I are the same age. One of my biggest regrets will always be never having seen him live n concert. I wish I could go back in time and change that. Amazing talent, amazing looks this man had !
Very manly, stylish, and a bit flamboyant. Truly a legend. RIP George Michael
And he had such a good heart,he helped way more people than they realize. He didn't want to be infamous for his generousty so he kept tons of what he'd done under his hat . God bless you George!
This Superstar just leaves you Breathless!!!!!!!Just the Brightest Meteor passing by us!!!!We get to bask in his glow!!!!! I'm so sorry he's gone way too soon and his sister 3 years later probably from heartbreak as I think they were very close!!!!! He left all of us an Epic Legacy!!!!!
George Michael was the man in the 80s may he rest in heaven
My gaaawd..The ENERGY in this video! How could people NOT get up and dance to this? George Michael, I was 17 years young when you made this song... I had such a great time, in my bedroom, dancing to this! Played my FAITH cassette tape out.
Thanks for being on my teenage, 20's and 30's playlist, George. Your music made my life easier to handle. There was still more music for you to bless us with. Thanks for the memories.
@Sun•Yoga• Health At such a young age? I do not think so!
Only God could have made such a beautiful man, with the most beautiful voice in the world, and the master of the art of music ,always know that i love you my angel 💖
I bet this was one hell of a good concert. Could George ever move!! He was not only physically beautiful, but also musically gifted! He will always be my favourite male singer
George was the only guy that could dress like an Amish farmer and still look sexy (Prince could have pulled it off too though)
It actually reminds me of Madonna's look in her official video for the Who's That Girl track.
👍
Just the music it gets better everytime u listen to it?
Back when he was in his (very) brief Amishexual phase complete with a lil butter churnin dance
@@ogsegasteve9430 I see what you did there! LOL! Yes, he does look very Amish here minus the earring and the extra belt.
But my gosh this man has so much talent and energy.....and he can dance. Awesome guy!
Shaye Kisitu aka Jannah225 that time he was on top best time for hem
Damn you're thick...
He was a rare talent. His great work will continue to be honored, RIP.
As great a dancer as anyone.
RIP
You're right, George Michael never did anything to help anyone. Probably would've been better off coming on TH-cam to patronise people, now THAT'S how you benefit society.
In a retrospective interview about the album in 2010, Michael noted that the song was inspired by a friend of his dealing with drug and alcohol addiction but he didn't know how to help her. He used the term monkey to refer to her addiction. He asked his friend: Do you love the monkey or do you love me?
George Michael has always been ahead of his time and his beats still have me dancing in the garage as we speak
Probably one of his best songs EVER ❤️ and criminally underrated !
An absolute belter of a song with a strong meaningful message brillantly conveyed (monkey = drug addiction)
@@deceiver444 definitely!
Agreed!
Underrated in what way? It was a number hit single.
@@aaronREfan I meant it because of the meaning behind the song , ofc it was a very successful track 🙏
2:24 is the best!! Such energy. Such talent, he passed away on Christmas and if I remember right his sister died the following year also on Christmas
I can't imagine George Michael laying still anywhere! He had so much energy, he was never still!! Always moving!!
This was THE JAM back in the day!!! Though dated in sound, it STILL kicks... It's not hard to see why this was such a hit.
+David G You are absolutely right - "It's all been done" well said.
The ultimate artist. One of the best male vocals. Terrific song writer & entertainer. Miss him. RIP💜🖤
I love this man with all my heart.
Me too!!!!!
Me too
r.I.p george Michael he was awesome Singer and sexy
George Michael Forever!!
Erin de la musique
This was EPIC back in the day. Way before its time. Dance on, good man. Welcome immortality.
THIS SINGER WAS A GREAT DANCER TOO.
George Michael, the most beautiful, brightest star in heaven. Thank you for your gift to earth. Only for a brief moment, but we lived it with him. We lived in his lifetime. We were blessed.
Talented, handsome, sexy and humble!! . Who can ask for a better
Idol and hero. I LOVE you GM!!!Gone but not Forgotten. RIP!
@Gangsta Gizzy i feel actually the same when im listening to his music
@@Glen_Quagmire_Official good glad I'm not the only one 🤣🖤🤘🏻
That exactly describes me right now lmao. GM is my idol ✊🏻
Who knows? 😂😂😂
I was totally in awe of George when I went to his concert in Sydney about 1988 his "Faith Tour". So talented and Gorgeous
I went to the Melbourne concert. Was awesome
I love how he shared himself so openly with the world. Very generous man.
This guy wouldn't be able to write a bad song if his life depended on it.
I TOTALLY AGREE !!!!!!!!
+GM fan forever Me too!
Well said! Brilliant singer & song-writer. Rest in Peace George Michael. You are so missed!
That was a funny response and i agree. Even though the song was written in despair of a record company not able to let him go and do his thing.
Tonio Miklo Well said 👍🏿😄
Dude just owned the stage.
David Smith.. yes he did!! 💜 💜 💜
He was like the Briton's Michael Jackson.
No, he owned the audience!
He owned everything
It was the most real performances I have ever seen. He felt it.
Born for stardom. He set a precedent for others to follow but never duplicated. He got better with age. True artist. Miss him so.
In my dreams George came to me in a dream looking like this time. He was so beautiful. Such a talent.
One of the best songs of all time about addiction, and so underrated.
