I'm not a camper nor am I a tourer, but I just love these setups. So frigging practical and beautifully engineered. I can see myself using it partly for work and part recreation.
As usual, awesome video, thanks brother. You guys are so far ahead of us in the US as far as camping, on or off road. The quality of work coming out of Australia is first class. Thanks for sharing
what a great setup... Watching this the whole time with a huge smile on my face, your enthusiasm and happiness is infectious. Like a kid in a candy store. Great stuff. 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼
As a fabricator welder also working with Aluminium it's great work, "but" with all the potential to carry so much weight I hope the chassis has been strengthened as well. There are countless dual cabs from all makes with broken chassis' from overloading and towing.
After seeing this vehicle personally, it is with out doubt, the best canopy i have seen by a very big margin. The vehicle is also done brilliantly. The quality, attention to detail and thoughtfulness is mind blowing But more, the craftsmanship, fit and finish is just next level That thing is built with pride and some serious skills You simply don't get that with other products I could spot it from 80meters away, that it was something of beauty. The sparky work (being a sparky myself) was incredible, attention to detail everywhere you looked. I was very envious and hats off to the fella that did it. One thing i've just thought of though.... Shower?
Hugh Jazz cheers mate, we are stoked with how this rig has turned out! The guys involved are the ultimate professionals and so passionate about what they do✌️ Shower?? We just use a 12volt camp shower that we drop in a tub of water and have a quick rinse✌️
Absolutely flawless! I'll be getting the same setup (I wasn't sure, but now I'm sure!!) for my 2018 Tacoma. I already have the Norweld Tray. Thanks for a great video.
great vid & set up. You have made it easier for me to make any future decisions for a touring set up. I will definitely be looking up Pro Touring Concepts, to help me out
Great show guys, my two boys just absolutely love your trips, I put on your channel to keep them amused and now I'm hooked, I'd love for you blokes to come to nz in the south island, I'm now looking at a 4wd so I can take the kids out, keep up the great work, love the cooking and the banter and the tips you always offer we look forward to more 4wd action
Onya Justin.. ! I guess we must've inspired you when you saw our Canopy setup at JB Caboolture. Great work, looks fantastic, a canopy makes so much difference, you won't know how you did without it for so long. The possibilities are endless & we love ours....so many options. Have a great 2019. See you out there.
Awesome tour. Love it! May I ask something. Does the battery heats up especially in the metal canopy under the sun? Does it have ventilation? Thank you.
Looks fantastic and well fitted design layout.- driving a Toyota now? - I think you had a Ranger before? - just starting my own fit-out using aluminium and stainless steel for internal structures - Engel, Redarc, Amptron,& Renogy for electrics - It’s a dual cab Hilux so I’ll have to keep the weight in check - hope SA/WA was good for you all - John in SA
Just the best Australian Engineering!!! Fantastic set up for what you will need on your trips!! One day I will do the same with my Holden Colorado. Safe travels on every trip you do Justin & Bec. Have a wonderful Christmas to you and your entire family and have an epic new year 2020, looking forward to more adventures from you both in the new year and beyond. Onya Mate 🍺🥂🍻🎁🎄👍👌
I not only love all your journeys but being a petrolhead and into modifications this setup walkthrough is class..very clean setup. is there a spare space for the wife when they go off on one...?
Hey Guys, Nice video. I have been watching this video on and on and on! Also I have been wanting a canopy like yours! Love it! Nice family!! Good on ya mate!! Keep it up
Kerr lights are unreal. Been running them for years and they’ve never failed. I don’t need external camp lights, just raise the sides panels and your all good.
Holy crap mate, that is hands down one of the best setups I’ve seen in a long time, and would look incredible on my PXII Ranger. I’ve just posted the wife and kids for sale on Gumtree to start saving the coin towards making this a reality, so lets hope people don’t waste my time with low ball offers and they sell quick. I wonder if Norweld would take them as a deposit if they don’t sell on Gumtree?
Hi guys, Loving your trip vids. My wife and I are retiring mid next year. Looking at the new 300 series Landcruiser to pull our 21’ Roadstar full off road GT cross country. Really liking some of your equipment. For example, your foldable fire pit, your roof rack with your car topper boat. My question is, where can we source the above equipment for our journeys around this wonderful country. Cheers, Ken and Sue Marston
Fabulous set up! Finally something that has made me rethink our Jeep GC Overland with all its creature comforts - to a BT50 or Ranger, just to have something like this to allow functional use of storage space. I love ours - but it seems you always want something that is on the bottom or at the back and you have often to go through every tub... and Solar on double pain sun roof is near impossible, unless you use the rack - but then they are under gear. I LOVE it!!! All important Q though - can I ask what this canopy cost, with all the kit? Thanks. Brad.
Great to see your set up, thanks for sharing. I was wondering what sort of weight the BT comes up at before you add water, food camping gear, tools etc and what weight it allows you to tow.
Hey guys, Nothing to so with this episode but wondering how you went with the mazda up the cape with the tub and canopy , going next year but not sure about storage with the wife and 3 kids ?
Hey guys not sure if u will say but wats one of these canopies cost roughly. Or even ur new one just curious tossing up options for my Hylux atm cheers guys love ur work 👌

Robert Bruce cheers mate, your rig sounds great!! I’d love to catch up and check it out if we cross paths! And I absolutely don’t mind if you copy our 12volt system. Enerdrive gear is the best on the market in our opinion, it would be a great setup for you 💪 Safe travels mate and keep me updated with your build, I’d love to see some pics✌️

Great setup but i wouldn’t only rely on just the water storage in remote areas if it splits or leaks due to corrugations you will lose your entire water supply better to have multiple small storages.
Looks great BUT. How close to GVM does it weigh with gear ,fuel and family.?? Not to mention the caravan tow ball download penalty. I think yoy are going to be over the limit.
Norweld certainly makes some of the best canopies and trays on the market and it comes with a very high price to match. That's the cost of Australian made high quality.
After seeing this personally, it is with out doubt, the best canopy i have seen by a very big margin. The quality and attention to detail and thoughtfulness is mind blowing But more, the craftsmanship is just next level That thing is built with pride and some serious skills You simply don't get that with other products I could spot it from 80meters away, that it was something of beauty. Everyone is asking about cost and I think it would be great if you could put the cost in the description, even a rough one so people like me can start planning a build like that. Keep up the good work.
Hi guys love your work ,but want to no why you chose the particular type of electric cook top you have, is that one the most efficient & how much ,what brand cheers Graham !
Mate that looks fantastic! (How do you go with being under GCM weights towing a van??) I have 2017 BT50 and would love this set up, but wondering regarding weights. Do you have GVM upgrade on your BT50?
Hi mate just wondering if norweld did your full canopy paint job? I have only seen doors and boxes with finished paint job... I love the set up and am looking to norweld for my canopy
Hi Buddy, been following you guys since before this build and the new van and you have now been running the canopy for a while over at time some pretty narly ground too. Whats the approx loaded weight of the canopy on the BT and did you give consideration to the weight behind the axle in view of the issue some cabs have had with breaking the back of the chassis. I want ot do the same but am concerned about the behind axle weight on my 2009 DMax ???
Mike Williams cheers mate, the canopy weighs about 550kg. And yep I considered the extra weight so we got a Lovell’s upgraded gvm suspension kit fitted and also braced the chassis👍
craig harris check out this link mate. 31k is everything except the batwing awning on the side and I got mine painted as extra facebook.com/212209968891205/posts/2171792779599571?s=659663771&sfns=mo
So much weight rear of the wheels, be interesting to see how it goes through mud. Starting to think a chassis extension is needed on these dual cabs, especially how cheap they are now.
I'd get the basis canopy because I need it for work, my major concern with it I guess is the increased centre of gravity compared to factory tub. Have you noticed the ute a lot of more tippy on side angles?
Abu7929 it’s definitely different to drive off road now. Having a lot of weight on the back makes steep low range hill climbs a bit more difficult. But haven’t noticed it being too tippy at all, but we don’t do much hardcore 4x4. Mainly beach work and Bush campgrounds🤙
Hi, great setup. I am looking to do the same.what does the car drive like with the canopy off. I also need the car to be a daily driver and was worried about the suspension upgrades making it stiff and uncomfortably to drive. Thanks. Geoff
geoff gypsy hey mate, our canopy doesn’t actually come off.. it’s a full timer. I can imagine it would be a harsher ride when the weights off though. Sorry I can’t give you a better answer🤔
Awesome setup. Congrats. Just something I noticed through, if you hang up in the back crossing a ditch/washout, are you going to be able to pull the tray to get at your recovery gear?
Just come across your channel very informative and great vids bloody awesome your doing a great job what a fantastic looking canopy have just bought a d/c 2018 xlt ranger that is exactly the set up I'm looking for how expensive are they mate cheers
Quick one guys, travelling West across the Nullarbor, how much head winds affect your fuel burn as opposed to Easterly trip if you have measured that, and best seasonal time of year for a Westerly trip?
Awesome setup mate. I'm about to get my first 4x4 this year for touring & wondering if you could explain your 12v setup in the van if you haven't already in another video. I've got the Redarc Manager 30 for battery management plus the Redarc Redvision TVMS to control switching, accessories etc. Initially I was looking to install in the tourer but now the wife wants me to also look at a camping trailer so I will need some form of 12v system in there for lighting etc. Main power can come from the car via an anderson plug.
I'm not a camper nor am I a tourer, but I just love these setups. So frigging practical and beautifully engineered. I can see myself using it partly for work and part recreation.
Hey mate,
Interesting that your not a camper or tourer but like the set ups.
Have a look at my set up and build
Cheers

Cheers mate, the boat loader and trailer is from ALMAC TRAILERS AND BOAT LOADERS:
www.almactrailers.com.au/boatloaders.php
Fire pit is from RED ROADS.
Thanks for that guys. Much appreciated. Safe travels.
Hey mate… where did you get all this gear? In Brisbane?
Melbourne but they have a Brisbane dealer
Hey awesome set up. Is it possible to wind off this canopy or is it part of the tray? Thanks
Dan this one is part of the tray, but you can get the exact same setup as a jack off canopy💪
Fabulous set up! Finally something that has made me rethink our Jeep GC Overland with all its creature comforts - to a BT50 or Ranger, just to have something like this to allow functional use of storage space. Brad Williams cheers mate, you can get a setup just like this for around 30k
Mate looks 👌,,what is the size like length x width x high
A fantastic setup
Great to see your set up, thanks for sharing. I was wondering what sort of weight the BT comes up at before you add water, food camping gear, tools etc and what weight it allows you to tow.

shane staff they came built in the canopy , you can choose from a few different layouts🤙
Hi mate- do u have pics on how that table- bench stays clipped to side ? ( on passenger side.) Ta
It’s just 2 bits of flat bar with bolts in the ends. It slides under tray and the bolts hold it from slipping out.
Hey guys, Nothing to so with this episode but wondering how you went with the mazda up the cape with the tub and canopy , going next year but not sure about storage with the wife and 3 kids ?

cheers mate
Hi mate just wondering if norweld did your full canopy paint job? I have only seen doors and boxes with finished paint job... I love the set up and am looking to norweld for my canopy
Danny Boy yeah mate Norweld organised the full paint job through their normal paint booth guys✌️
Hey mate, sick set up! I know you're selling this now, but where do the camp chairs fit in there?
@@TripInAVan Thanx
THANK YOU FOR GREAT DETAIL VIDEO ON NEW SET CANOPY FOR FAMILY TRAVEL ROUND AUSTRALIA
BUILT NEW ALLOY CANOPY FOR ISUZU 300 4X4 CREW CAB TRUCK
Just a question loaded up does effect steering . Love it
Perry Finbow na mate, steers fine. Only difference is doing off road hill climbs, the steering gets a bit light
How much that set you back? Looks awesome!
In northern Kenya....kind of cool machine ....can fit here
Boys from Norweld Canopies and Pro Touring do a awesome job Mate there best canopy yet Jas does it effect your GVM did you need a upgrade
Tony Paine cheers man, we had to upgrade our gvm, Lovell’s 2” kit tskesus to 3500kg👍
@@TripInAVan thanks for the reply back mate boy they done a awesome job best looking Bt50 I've seen. Price around $15 or $20 grand Jas
All up; whats the cost of the fitout ???
Looks great 😊
nelle rose you can get this setup for around 31k
Trip In A Van - just to clarify that 31k is for that canopy fitted out as seen on video bolted on to the Ute?
craig harris check out this link mate. 31k is everything except the batwing awning on the side and I got mine painted as extra facebook.com/212209968891205/posts/2171792779599571?s=659663771&sfns=mo
Does that include the vehicle!!!
That is awesome,
Just purchased a new Amrok, to my disappointment Norweld don't do a Tray or Canopy for the VW
Looks great and all but daymmmm it’d heavy af! Would be over gvm for sure
I regress, saw a comment below that there is a gvm/gcm upgrade in place! Mint set up boys I’m jealous
An awsome set up got me thinking now. 😎
Hey Justin, awesome rig, have a BT50 myself and looking to do the same thing. How do you rate the Mazda?
Greg Williams cheers mate, love the BT50. We’ve had 3 years trouble free touring around Oz👍 Great value vehicle..
@@TripInAVan Thanks Mate mine's a 2016 XTR and thinking about getting a new one to deck out. What model Norweld canopy is yours?
Greg Williams brand new mate, 2019 model✌️
So much weight rear of the wheels, be interesting to see how it goes through mud. Starting to think a chassis extension is needed on these dual cabs, especially how cheap they are now.
Be good to know what you played for that exact set-up
What a sweet set up 😍
need something like this in the states. i've only managed to find pcor, and their pricing is... interesting lol
they about the same pricing wise. both really expensive lol
Looks mint, I must say.
20g + setup I reckon
Battery alone is over 2g
And the rest ! Canopy and tray alone is well over 20k then add 10k plus for the electrical 🙈
haw mutch did it cost because i am looking fore one
About $8500
+ the tray...!
Just had a look at other posts 40k all up cheers
Cheers mate. Our setup all inclusive is around 40grand.
amazing built. cheers
Nice setup
Jesus Justin 😱. U got more gear in there that Captain Kirk had on the starship enterprise 😬😂👍🏻👍🏻
Shadowz Shadowz wicked🤘
Simply awesome
Primo setup mate. Congrats :-)
Cheers mate!
Quick one guys, travelling West across the Nullarbor, how much head winds affect your fuel burn as opposed to Easterly trip if you have measured that, and best seasonal time of year for a Westerly trip?
Where did you get all of these. How much is the canopy?
radioforum Norweld Australia
G day mate, so cool how much of cost for set up ?
akkaluk moppijit 35k as it is🤙
Awesome setup mate.
Main power can come from the car via an anderson plug.
what brand are the dual colour strip lights ?
Korr 👍
Awesome dude!!! But two questions: What is the all abuot weight of this car fully equipped? And how much did you pay for all this?
