Hey Gene. My grandfather and myself watched your TH-cam show faithfully for the past year or so. He just passed away Saturday. I just wanted to thank you for all the joy you brought us while watching your show together. His name was Henry Stringer Jr in Augusta, GA. He loved fishing. He would have fished every day if he could have. He preferred open faced rods and live bait. He was a crappy and bass lover, but would fish for anything in the water. Thank you Gene for allowing me and my granddad to have some laughs and bonding time and extra memories before he left this life. Thank you. Gonna have all of my uncles watching your show now! We are a FISHING FAMILY!
They should put you on your own mainstream T.V. show, Richard. You are very much "that" entertaining, and one heck of a good fisherman! For many species...
I couldn't buy a crappie today here in Indiana! But I did get 10 keeper bluegill on Beemoth... And 2, 1 pounder largemouth bass on a yellow spinner. Love watching yer videos, and been telling others; WOO!
The Man, the Myth, the Legend. Alabama's Favorite Son, Richard Gene the Fishin Machine. A true gift to us all who thought we knew how to fish while in fact, this man wrote the book.
Richard my Dad just turned 82. He's been watching you on TH-cam since he was a little boy. Him and Elmo went to different schools together. Hahaha Great video You are AWESOME.
When you asked how much that bass weighed I said "6-7 pounds" out loud. I haven't lost it all. ;) Thank you, Richard. Thank you for taking me back to the Tennessee River. I miss it.
Richard, my brother turned me on to your videos and I’ll tell you what, you are knowledgeable and entertaining! Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
I believe your pole length mostly limits your casting range so far as good hook sets go. For instance I can chuck a minnow under a float forty yards on my 6'6" med rod and have trouble sticking trout, whereas with my 10'6" ultralight I barely lose a thing. To be fair I'm mostly bank fishing, in a boat I'd rather make shorter casts with a shorter rod. It all comes down to sucking up that slack and keeping up with the fish. I know I rambled but it took me a long to learn that. Tight lines y'all.
Ha ha love it...I'm leaving Friday to Weiss lake...from Michigan...gonna take a week and bass fish and hopefully hit some crappie love it Richard... awsome sauce
I enjoy watching your videos, because you don't use curse words, and you are very knowledgeable on fishing. I have used many of the techniques you have shown, and have completely changed the way I fish because of you, and I catch a lot more fish. I have read many of the comments, and I agree with some people, that you should do a "catch and cook" video, and that you should start making and selling T-shirts, hats, etc., because I would buy them. Also, you need to have your wife, "Momma Sue" fish with you more, because she is funny, and she cracked me up with her laugh in your other videos. Keep up the good work.
Great video Richard, loved those bass you caught. They were spectacular, good size to them. They love those big shiners! Natural bait always does the trick when conditions dictate for it!
Another great one Machine! Can’t wait for my return trip to Guntersville to get in on some of that action! You are truly a down to earth great person through and through. The catfish dinner was great! God Bless you Brother!🎣
Hey Mr Richard I'd love to see you do a catch clean & cook. I watch your videos all the time. There's a nother guy I watch to his page is called. Cam's crappie hole. Y'all should take each other fishing in y'all's spots and make a video for both y'all's pages.
1. You can either buy them at your local live bait store, or catch them yourself, with a cast net. 2. You let the shiner run free, or you could use a float (bobber). If using mono, you don't want the shiner too far away, due to the stretch in the mono line. My preference is between 30-50 feet. Hope this helps you.
Love your videos! I have to be honest, I'm not into bass, though. I'd much rather watch you make the crappie or shellcrackers surrender to you than a damned ol bass.
His editor texted me last night when he got done editing it and I knew what was gonna be posted before it was even posted so for those of you who love his channel so much I always know what goes on behind the scenes just saying

Good grief, I laughed out loud...!
Richard is the modern day Bill Dance without trying to sell for brand companies. You are the man and thanks for all of these videos.
I really appreciate the way you instruct, and share how and why you fish specific techniques.
I love your videos man, I picked fishing back up because of them!!!- So fun to watch

We're coming up into the 40's in water temps here in the midwest. Can't wait to start catching some fish, assuming the flooding goes away.

Ricard what baitcaster are you using at 3:30? I'm getting my first baitcaster this year going to teach myself how to use one
Would have liked to see a weight on that first Bass, looked close to my personal best.
Love ya Brother...
Thanks Richard, most guys on TH-cam would have called that second bass 8lbs and not even put it on a scale.
Where do you get your shinners?
Hey Mr Richard I'd love to see you do a catch clean & cook. I watch your videos all the time. There's a nother guy I watch to his page is called. Cam's crappie hole. Y'all should take each other fishing in y'all's spots and make a video for both y'all's pages.
I am thinking about trying the open-faced reel.which kind or brand would you reccommend. Thanks for sharing
Love your Videos!! Why not use a float or a balloon ?
Someone please answer:
1. How do you get those shiners?
2. Do you just toss them out and let em run? How much line do u give them?
I catch them with rod an reel Richard does to he’s put out videos on it
Those were some huge LMB's you were catching on those large shiners.
Great job again as usual!

Love your videos! I have to be honest, I'm not into bass, though. I'd much rather watch you make the crappie or shellcrackers surrender to you than a damned ol bass.
