I've been eating gluten free and dairy free for more than 5 years now, and I can tell for sure that sometimes even if you cut certain categories of food it's not going to help much. The best way to do it - is completely avoid packaged foods, as they often contain additives and cross-reactive ingredients (gums, flavors, seasonings, preservatives, sulfites, modified starches, and other GMO derived ingredients which damages your intestinal flora). Personally for me, cooking from scratch helped me identify exactly what I was reacting to. A whole30 diet is the best way to start, then you can gradually convert to your own personalized diet.
I've just been diagnosed as having IBS so I need to get used to eating gluten and dairy free now. I rarely cook not from scratch so that's not much of a problem. Did your food shopping get much more expensive or was it only by a little bit, because the difference in price for things like milk is massive, 70c a litre compared to €2.40 a litre.
@@sponge260 I try to limit most of substitutions and just eat real food; whenever I want a dairy free milk I just make it at home and freeze smaller batches (in ice cubes).
Couldn't agree more. I have celiac disease and can't eat anything with dairy in it. I try my hardest to eat nothing but fruits veggies and local sourced meats. I do have cheat days though but for the most part that's become a way of life for me and even my husband and little ones.
@@sponge260 it becomes expensive when you buy all the vegan/gluten free snacks and if you can't eat meat from big stores like I can't then that does add up. My best advice is 1 learning portion control. I get chicken breast from a local butcher. I'll cut them in 4ths and each piece is what I eat with dinner. Might not seem like enough but you'd be surprised when you pair it with like a full serving of veggies or like sweet potatoes it's plenty (listen to your body if it's saying it's not enough and adjust as needed) and 2 something that works for us is when we do shop at the big box store we stick with the essentials milk eggs rice pasta ect. You find that those little essential products get you pretty far with a meal. And 3rd allow yourself a cheat day. For us its pretty much every Sunday. Well have a nice fat burger with fries and then treat our selves to ice cream at the end of the day. This is something I've always believed in. Especially having a problem that limits what you can eat. It gets hard watching every one around you eating what they want so having that one day that you get to indulge eases that and helps to where you won't binge eat whatever you want.
Inflammation from food IS big problem. Just here to say Celiac and gluten intolerance are not interchangeable. I’m gluten and lactose intolerant I can tolerate small amounts of gluten without too much issue, if I have a lot of gluten I get bloated and start getting rashes on my legs, I’ve been Celiac tested and not Celiac, if I mix gluten & lactose together I’ll be up all night with diarrhoea and vomiting. Thank you for this video. I’m currently sitting at my table eating a second bowl of Cheerios, starving and emotional, wondering how I will get through a gf and df diet for the rest of my life. Really needed the meal inspiration from this. Also to hear there’s another person who is happy eating like I am
Hi, cheerios aren't actually gluten free. The box says it but they're all made with oats. There's lots of research from gluten free groups and celiac disease groups that do not eat cheerios and they are trying to boycott the fact that cheerios puts gluten free on their boxes.
Cheerios are less then 10 parts per million, the FDA says anything less then 20 parts per million is GF. if it's an intolerance you might not notice, if it's celiac disease it is still there causing damage.
The silk site mentions the Oat Yeah creamer being gluten free. Not all oats are gluten free bc of cross contamination issues but you can check the box and it will usually say :3
My husband almost called the ambulance on me after taking a shot of this. So, you’re a trooper for being able to take it down at ALL! But I fear what it’s doing to your tummy
Are you talking about a shot of Apple Cider as it is best just to have a teaspoon of it in. boiling water and a slice of lemon, wait to drink it luke warn. That is the best way to drink it, 45 minutes after you wake up.
Unfortunately I can't eat most of this either since I'm allergic to coconut an am extremely picky (with stomach issues making it hard to eat much). But it did give me good ideas for how I can change your ideas. This was a really interesting video. Also so sweet that your boyfriend/husband cooked for you and even recorded it. He is so sweet ❤
id like to remind people that if you are not gluten free and lactose intolerant please don't buy a hole bunch of gluten free and lactose intolerant things. Some things are fine but things like milk bread and etc it can be very annoying when the only food you can eat is sold out because people are getting something they don't need. but then again its completely your choice.
I'm not happy you're having to go through the restrictiveness but it does make me happy seeing people that have to eat with similar restrictions to me because it makes me feel less strange. I'm also so glad that I could help about the oat milk! Don't feel bad, I didn't know until I reacted to it and I still have to check at coffee shops and restaurants because they sometimes don't think about it.
not to be rude but why are you guys going through the restrictions? was it a medical thing because i’ve been going through grief with my stomach and i’m not sure what to do
Yes it’s a medical thing for me too! Trying to see what causes some of my digestion problems and acne. At this point we are pretty sure I have a slight intolerance and the only way to know is to remove things from my diet. Definitely doesn’t mean I’m never going to eat these things again, it just means I can be more aware of how my body will react to certain foods.
Thinking of taking dairy out of my diet as well! Thank you for the video. :) I am actually breaking out more than usual around the same areas that it looks like you are (jawline/chin area); what supplement did she suggest taking for skin if you don't mind me asking?
So the few I'm taking kind of work in combination I believe to treat my skin (along with the diet) Mainly I think the fish oil is the one that is currently treating my skin. The one that didn't work for me was Halo Beauty Kiwi Seed Booster, but I tried the HUM skin hero pre & probiotic for one month and it did a really great job. It's kind of all trial and error with supplements but those are the ones I've recently used specifically for my skin! 🤗
You mentioned this is an amti inflammatory diet. A lot of the things you're eating have lots of sugar in them. Curious what your daily intake of sugar is..
I have ulcerative colitis since 2014 when I was diagnosed. Since then I have learned what are my trigger symptoms are and dairy happens to be one of them. I try to eat dairy free as much as I can when I eat at home. If I want to eat something that is not dairy free I try to make sure it is at least gluten-free when I eat at home. Also I used to be a vegetarian from April 2017 to September 2020. I went back to eating meat again but only certain meats due to my doctors orders. I was never told by a doctor or a specialist that I needed to go gluten-free or dairy free. I just do these things on my own. I have been told I needed to follow the low FODMap Diet or the Specific carbohydrate diet also known as a SCD diet. I have not followed either one of these diets. And because I did not follow the SCD diet like my doctor wanted me to I now have to have another updated colonoscopy (my last one was two years ago) to decide which medicine I should take either Remicade or Humira. I found your video to be helpful because I’m trying to become more strict with eating gluten-free and dairy free when at home.
I’m doing a lowcarb (kinda keto) lifestyle and IF (no dinner as I notice I sleep better if I don’t have dinner). If I may ask how was your keto experience? Are you changing your woe because of digestive issues? Thank you and greetings from Spain.
Was looking for gluten & dairy free recipes, and happened to click on your video. I just had to subscribe once I seen that microwave dance :D Thanks for the content!

Oats are naturally gluten free. The only problem is that there is a risk for cross contamination. I have POTS, I'm dairy and gluten intolerant and have been dairy free/gluten free for 4-5 years now. I eat So Delicious ice cream that is made with oat milk and I don't have any issues! So I believe some brands are safe. I also want to say for those with chronic health conditions, it may benefit you to remove most carbs from your diet. I consume very little carbs and it's always from fruit and vegetables (unless I'm treating myself with ice cream) It keeps my heart rate and blood pressure in check. I also get less adrenaline rushes now. It's crazy how much your diet effects how you feel!
It’s very interesting to see how my body is less bloated after eliminating (where possible) all gluten and lactose from my meals. I’ve started a new cooking series to help me and others along the way. I do miss the real thing but it’s a step in the right direction 🙂
Have you tried the RYZE coffee mushroom coffee. It’s working for me. I don’t feel bloated and stomach issues. As bad. I’m gluten free and dairy free as well.
I've just been diagnosed with IBS, so as of now, I can't eat dairy or gluten without getting cramps and feeling sick. Out of curiosity, how much more expensive has your food shopping been in general. Did you see a significant price increase, as in $20+, Or was it only a few dollars hear and there?
Oats are naturally gluten free; however, during the harvest, processing, and packaging cycles, gluten can be introduced from the machines that a company used for non-gluten free product like rye.
and still, oats contain some protein similar to gluten which can cause problems to some people anyway. So even without gluten it can do something to you.. but that change isn't that big
Actual doctors have said NEVER take apple cider by itself without mixing it into another liquid!! So dangerous to do! I hope you did not mess up your guts girl! Just found your channel, new subscriber. But yes I would be very wary of doing that it's not really safe to do 😬
Taking apple cider vinegar straight in a shot is great for your stomach but not great for your throat, it can burn your throat so it's always a good idea to just mix in some water to dilute it a bit. And unfortunately even "gluten free" oats will affect people who are sensitive to gluten because oats has a protein in it that is similar to gluten and essentially mimics gluten.
What grocery store do you go to? Some of the products you show look so good and I want to try them but I have never seen them in the stores that I shop at.
Okay, I am completely new to this world of dairy/gluten free life.... been making smoothies and noticed your “bowl” you made. My blender would completely choke on all that with that little bit of liquid. What kind of blender do you use?
Just so you know, mixing fruit with other food groups creates bloating, gas and constipation for my son who has gut issues. So now we do food combining to avoid that.
I think oats would only have a trace amount of gluten in them because the gluten is from wheat that "accidentally" grew up with the oats. Oats themselves don't have gluten, I think. So the gluten free ones are just farmed more carefully to be sure that no wheat has sprouted among the oats.
Useful video. Thanks for that. But why do you open the fridge and don’t close it after.. if you show a product you could close it. So it keeps cold and need less energy
I love your vids!! I have to be gluten and dairy free bc of celiac and other autoimmune diseases. I am new to posting vids myself, but I am starting to post meal ideas on my channel!! Most are vegan and all are gluten free!!

Thank you. Your adorable and you inspire me. I appreciate you being REAL😊
My doctor at Saint Paul VI in Omaha, Nebraska just started me on this diet!! If you make more videos I’ll watch!! I don’t have IG :)
This was so well done! I loved every second of this. Definitely inspiring to eat better because everything you two made looked delicious!
Aw thank you so much!! 😘
I’m just starting this journey to fix my inflammatory response ❤ per naturopath as well
11:20 is when Cody takes over That meal looks delicious

If you warm the cookie chunks up for just a few seconds .... even better! They have birthday cake flavor too!
You look so gorgeous without makeup ❤️
id like to remind people that if you are not gluten free and lactose intolerant please don't buy a hole bunch of gluten free and lactose intolerant things. Some things are fine but things like milk bread and etc it can be very annoying when the only food you can eat is sold out because people are getting something they don't need. but then again its completely your choice.
Yay! Loved this Mikayla. Welcome to the gluten free dairy free tribe, we eat lots of delicious food lol
Thanks Liv! I'm excited to be here 😂❤️
I have been welcomed to
I just recently started do the same, and bloating has gone away! I feel so much better!
I'm not happy you're having to go through the restrictiveness but it does make me happy seeing people that have to eat with similar restrictions to me because it makes me feel less strange. I'm also so glad that I could help about the oat milk! Don't feel bad, I didn't know until I reacted to it and I still have to check at coffee shops and restaurants because they sometimes don't think about it.
not to be rude but why are you guys going through the restrictions? was it a medical thing because i’ve been going through grief with my stomach and i’m not sure what to do
Itsjustk yes it was medical reasons and I'm really sorry to hear you're having problems
@@MikaylaGreenwood what brand fish oil were you taking 🥺
I just got a lactose intolerance diagnosis, I already have coeliac disease and a peanut allergy. Any tips bc I’m a bit worried and sad about it ❤️❤️
You mentioned this is an amti inflammatory diet.
Nice video thank you! Also, I used to take apple cider vinegar straight but I stopped as it’s bad for teeth enamel
I just went to my natural path and im suppose to do this diet as well 😩 thanks for the video girl
Eggs make me the saddest not to eat 😭 I only eat them about once a week now, but I used to eat them everyday like you! Maybe one day we can get back to eating them more cus it’s such an easy breakfast
We love the dance to the microwave timer
Coffee makes me break out . It doesn’t matter if I drink it on it’s own, with almond milk, or oat . It messes with my hormones
I have reflux and absolutely can’t drink apple cider vinegar straight up. But I am going gluten and sugar free again this year to see how it goes
I have that too. Apple cider vinegar makes it worse
There is Gluten Free oats. Just read the label. Or get Bob's Red mills. There is good gluten free pasta too.
Love that you shared your journey, I am DF but now going GF after getting a food sensitivities rest! Excited to try some of brands you shared. Especially the bagels.
I use a really great brand of fish oil if you're interested in trying it out let me know I can share it with you 👍🏻
Thank you for this video! You share some great alternative foods with us today and I think I would like to try some now on my home. Thank you again!
Why don’t you eat eggs? Is it the inflammatory response in the yolk? Would egg whites be okay?
You should try adding a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil either mixed in the avocado or on top
Have you tried the RYZE coffee mushroom coffee. It’s working for me. I don’t feel bloated and stomach issues. As bad. I’m gluten free and dairy free as well.
unrelated but your voice is super relaxing omg
What do you do when you go to other places to eat, like family gatherings?
I've just been diagnosed with IBS, so as of now, I can't eat dairy or gluten without getting cramps and feeling sick. Out of curiosity, how much more expensive has your food shopping been in general. Did you see a significant price increase, as in $20+, Or was it only a few dollars hear and there?
Oats are naturally gluten free; however, during the harvest, processing, and packaging cycles, gluten can be introduced from the machines that a company used for non-gluten free product like rye.
and still, oats contain some protein similar to gluten which can cause problems to some people anyway. So even without gluten it can do something to you.. but that change isn't that big
its the acv in the mini solo cup for me 🤣 makes it fun
Actual doctors have said NEVER take apple cider by itself without mixing it into another liquid!! So dangerous to do! I hope you did not mess up your guts girl! Just found your channel, new subscriber. But yes I would be very wary of doing that it's not really safe to do 😬
I was instructed to take it pure and I burned my stomach. I was in agony for several weeks. The Dr was a fraud all around.
Are those seasonings gluten free? They mostly have wheat in them? Looks good!!
I have celiac disease and I have oat milk everyday! Some have gluten, but not all of them do, but the ones that dont just say gluten free on them!!
I’m doing gluten free and dairy free. I have been since I was about six and know I am 11
You are such a beautiful soul ❤thanks for the insight
What grocery store do you go to? Some of the products you show look so good and I want to try them but I have never seen them in the stores that I shop at.
Okay, I am completely new to this world of dairy/gluten free life.... been making smoothies and noticed your “bowl” you made. My blender would completely choke on all that with that little bit of liquid. What kind of blender do you use?
They have Heavenly Hunks on sale for 6.99 right now at Costco~we loaded up...we love them too!!!
Brb running to Costco 😅
Omg haha didnt even notice our names where the same !! Thank you for this video. I am trying to start going gluten free and am finding it difficult
Careful on the apple cider vinegar, it can damage your gums. Certainly did to me and googled it, turn out yes.
Just so you know, mixing fruit with other food groups creates bloating, gas and constipation for my son who has gut issues. So now we do food combining to avoid that.
my husband and i get the heavenly hunks and LOVE them!!! Soooo good!
The chaboni, oatly, planet oat oat milks are all gluten free.
I think oats would only have a trace amount of gluten in them because the gluten is from wheat that "accidentally" grew up with the oats. Oats themselves don't have gluten, I think. So the gluten free ones are just farmed more carefully to be sure that no wheat has sprouted among the oats.
This is a video that I’ve really been needing, love this 🥰
Silk oat milk isn’t gluten free but a ton of other brands are - Califia, Oatly, Planet Oat, and some others are labeled GF!
Yay!! 🙌🏻 Will definitely be swapping to one of those ones!
The Oat yeah creamer i have says its gluten free right at the top
This is what I need I’m picky and lactose intolerant and sensitive to egg and gluten
Useful video. Thanks for that. But why do you open the fridge and don’t close it after.. if you show a product you could close it. So it keeps cold and need less energy
Love your video. I am going to ask my doctor to send me for a food sensitivity test so I know what I can eat and can't instead of guessing.
Certain brands of oatmilk are specially made with 100% gluten free oats
First time here.. where did u buy those gluten free bread and bagel from? Thank u
I love your vids!! I have to be gluten and dairy free bc of celiac and other autoimmune diseases. I am new to posting vids myself, but I am starting to post meal ideas on my channel!! Most are vegan and all are gluten free!!
I almost went to the ER from the pain when I took Apple Cider vinegar on a empty stomach. It was the worst pain
If you have acid reflux and stomach ulcer apple cider vinegar makes it worse
Where did you buy that bread and bagels from ??
What stores or websites are the best for dairy and gluten free diets? I'm looking to change my families diet especially my son's who is autistic to hopefully help with his behavior and meltdowns.
