He will never be forgotten in Europe
Karim Benzema is an important player in the history of Real Madrid and he has a crucial legacy. 1st in assists 2nd in scoring 4th in La Liga scoring 25 trophies including 5 champions league titles and 4 La Ligas and a Ballon Dor to cap off his brilliance. Towards the end of his career at Real Madrid, Karim Benzema turned into a talisman and he played both roles excellently at this club for 15 years both as a supporting player and the main man scoring goals regularly for Real Madrid. His 2021/22 season was the best season of his career and what he did towards the champions league knockout stages, he put up some of the best performances I've ever seen from an individual player in a champions league season. It wasn't just the goals he scored, it was the importance because every goal he scored in the knockouts were goals that brought Real Madrid back into some games and they were also late winners and that played a role in Real Madrid winning the champions league last year and it earned him a Ballon Dor. After 14 seasons full of goals, assists, individual brilliance, trophies Karim Benzema earned the right to make this decision and enjoy the remainder of his career. Many will appreciate his impact on this Real Madrid team and he'll be missed big time.

@@bigmade7739 I was talking about last season alone in the champions league, Karim Benzema 5 seasons prior to his departure has been the most important player for Real Madrid not just down to his goals, without him, no one can replicate his influence and they looked average whenever he was absent. Last season the goals Karim Benzema scored in the knockouts were important goals that dragged Real Madrid back into multiple ties and some match winners too, they were critical to helping them win champions league. Cristiano Ronaldo was the KING of UCL knockouts he scored a lot of goals not just quality ones, important ones too any his impact for Real Madrid is un-denial as well.

It’s probably just me but i do feel vini did more for benzema then vise versa, post ronaldo benzema struggled so did the team trying to get goals. Then vini becomes an undisputed starter and we saw benzema rise, vini deserves credit from moving on after what benzema was caught saying about him.

Vini did improve a lot as well. 2 years ago he was not mature enough but finally found his place last year. Yes, he helped Benzema and the team in that legendary season. But Benzema deserves all his credit for the triple against PSG when they were down, the triple against Chelsea, then the triple against City in the 2022 Champions League. That ballon d'Or was clean.

Benzema made Ronaldo better, not the other way around. He sacrificed his goal scoring for the sake of the team and Ronaldo benefited. Ronaldo was a a better goal scorer. But Benz is the more complete footballer who could do it all: drop back, link up, develop the play and finish the play.
If you think Benzema was a more complete player than the Real Madrid version of Ronaldo, you don't know football. Benzema didn't sacrifice anything, he missed chances almost every single match, mostly from Ronaldo setting him up, he just improved his finishing after Ronaldo left.

Benzema is my favourite player after Ronaldo at Real Madrid but the opinion that Ronaldo hindered Benzema is one of the worst. Yes he played as second fiddle but at the same time don’t forget how many chances he used to miss so casually created by Ronaldo.

It’s irrelevant to compare great players. CR7 or KB9 or anyone else. Each player has their own story and journey in getting to where they are. In my opinion it’s what makes them great legends of the game and why we even know their names and why they won’t ever be forgotten. Congrats to them for making futbol beautiful and loving the game. Atleast they made history, they already won in my book.

No it didn’t. We one La Liga in 19/20. We were always in CL quarters or semis. We one La Liga last year as well. The reasons 18/19 wasn’t great was because how poor the frontline, except Benz, were. Bale was missing, Asensio didn’t deliver and Vini and Rodrygo were not as good as now. Benz helped Ronaldo more than any other player.

Karim was already great before last season. I agree with you he had a tough time after joining and the high expectations. Taking over Higuain was not an easy task at the time, and Mourinho challenged him as well. It took him time to connect with the socios. Then he had to work for Ronaldo etc. But that is exactly what made him improve his game and helped him finish his career as one of the greatest.
