Golden Sun is a master piece in every aspect. It's incredible what the team managed to put in one GBA cartridge.

i'm pretty sure they have upgraded the cartridge's memory just like as Donkey Kong Country on SNES developers did.
Adding a memory chip allows to do fancy colors and smooth movements.
Pretty sure most, if not all, of the first game's tracks are on The Lost Age, so it's fair to say "on one cartridge".

All these years later, and you know what. This is my favorite game of all time. My first RPG that I ever beat, and the music is timeless. Love this game.
The original GS is one of the most underrated under appreciated games ever
across the entire video game platform, still makes top 100 games in the history of existence. think it was between 60's and 70's. still my #1 fav game of all time.
The games didn't expand too much on the end game though. Like after killing Dullahan and getting all the end-game weapons, there was nothing to do anymore.

Underrated no, great score. Underappreciates nope, sold by millions and has fan base.
Rather amazing to consider this game began as intended to be a N64 RPG, and then Camelot not only made the seeming crazy decision to turn what would have been a home console RPG into a GBA RPG, but successfully did so, even though they had to split the game across two entries to get it to work.
I think that's how it came out so fast, they took their already designed 3D models and made pixel renders of them.
19:55 is one of those things that's etched into my consciousness for eternity.

its so hard to find good ones though, or maybe im just biased and cant enjoy something as much as when i was younger. the only rpgs of this "style" i cant think of that are on a similar level to golden sun are chrono trigger and mardek. most final fantasy games dont even come close. ff has a more manufactured feel to me, tbh. paper mario ttyd is also great but very different gameplay/appearance. planescape torment has an amazing story, but its barely even an rpg

This game and it's soundtrack. Like. If you weren't there and 10 or 12 when it came out on the OG Gba with no backlight. Man, u missed out. This game defined, in a way, who I am as a gamer. Thank you Mom for randomly grabbing this for me on Xmas and setting me on a gaming path that you could never know
I wasn't there when it came out but I still played it at 12. I started with The Lost Age which made me a bit disoriented at first about the lore. I've only finished the first part recently, and I'm very glad I did

Honestly the story still works great playing through it backwards; it's similar to the release schedule of the Star Wars movies that way.
Man that's exactly the same thing that happened to me. I got introduced to the saga with The Lost Age, my mum just picked it cause she thought it looked like something I'd enjoy. Upon playing it and realising it was a sequel I went to my usual game shop to get the og GS. Best. Decision. Ever.
I love this game. I played it when I was 8 in 2003, and now that I'm 23 I have decided to play it again for curiosity and I can't stop ah ah. I will finish it, even if it will took many time because of my studies. I love this soundtrack as I love the story of Golden Sun in general. When I was youg I imagined adventures with my friends finding inspiration in this game. #lovegoldensun

@@perahoky well, when I was younger, playing it for the 1st time I didn't know about the optional boss in the Crossbone Isle and the overworld dinnji. I didn't know about thoses secrets until I got older and learned more about the game.
For me I'm still playing it again this year haha, I think I've played this game 3 to 4 times throughout my life since 2008, but now I'm trying the Reloaded patch to add difficulty.
I recall a distant memory where I came across a kid with a purple GBA and asked at the time, what is that game, never told me but I eventually discovered it some time ago.
Man-tears activated. Looking forward to the Nintendo Switch to have this really soon.

This soundtrack could easily have been by the numbers but the composer really put care and detail into the tunes and instruments in many places.
THis game was so good, it had so much detail and things to discover, game really was a true gem.

This is the only GBA Score with great sound quality. It reminds me a lot on the SNES Scores.
Ah, hate to break it to ya, but the quality comes from the XQ mode. Original hardware/emulation sounds noticibly worse in quality.

@@marinellovragovic1207 It's kind of like the Neo Geo and Metal Slug, sure the graphics and hardware maybe limited, but this has to be done by someone who understands what makes a solid result. Like Sakuraba was able to do exactly what Nobuo Uematsu did with the SNES soundchip.

Wow, the GS synth sounds incredible!!
agbplay has a very accurate reimplementation of the GS synth sounds. The functionality was directly translated from the original assembler code. The only difference is that my code uses floating point precision. Also, they will sound even smoother than the original game because I rendered everything at 384kHz and then downsampled everything to 48kHz which significantly reduced aliasing of the square and pulse waves.

Isaac/Hans was clearly a German reference(you know,like sanctuary of Sonne:sanctuary of Sun or Mond:Moon) of Cloud of Final fantasy,in fact,have a few references,not just Cloud,but even so,is so different,and that is why we love this Game,aside all this

Just came to me. Alex and Mia has same hair color. Sheba and Ivan has same hair color. Jenna and Garet same hair color. As for Felix had same blond hair as nameable character when he was younger. So your hair color is linked to what element you belong to?
Not really, ivans sister Master Hama has purple hair and she's air too. Alex and Mia have the same hair color because they are both apart of the water clan.

How come there are variation in titles compare to others? Like Ending scene here is what others call "Golden sun rises" but you have that title for another song. Likewise some call your "I'll show you" for "Having fun" a little messy when people mix titles between each others xD
Is there an OST which would be a reference? Because I don't remember I had one back then, so basically I "named" the songs.

In the end of the day, I went the same way and apparently came up with different names.

wrong happy end isn't really right without anyone to stop Saturos the lighthouses would still be lit and even if they failed Felix would be a backup it was destoned for the lighthouses to be lit
