Don, you have made my day. I knew Arbess at the height of the once strong Sacramento Blues scene. I've had a copy of this CD since the day it came out. You would have had to see her lay the Blues down until you just about had to call for a fire truck to fully appreciate her. And yet she couldn't get the time of day from major record labels. Is she still around? She almost died at one point and made an incredible come back, singing the Gospel music she started out with when she was a little girl. Thank you again, Don, for keeping REAL Blues Power alive.
Really amazing singer indeed - I discovered her and this particular album lately and I am really impressed. She truly deserves more recognition but unfortunately I do not have any information if she still performs.

Right now I have many memories running thru my brain. Wish there was a time machine so I could take you there for the guided tour. I knew Little Charlie & the Night Cats when they were just a bar band around town. Thanks again for everything you do to keep Real Blues alive. Or as J. Wood, leader of the Blues Commandoes, would say, "Blues to You!"😎

It was a three person, small dollar, labor of love so they only got out about 12-15 CDs over the course of about 3-4 years before the Sacramento Blues scene started to fade. But everything they put out was superb. They put out three of Arbess. Dave/Omar also did three. He went from Blues awards nominated "The Raven" to by this point writing & recording what he saw around him...some of it pretty controversial. They supposedly sold the label's catalog & masters off to a distribution company who were putting out about four of five of them into small "eclectic" stores. Where it's gone since I don't know. I moved to the coast 20 years ago and have only been back a couple of times. Don't know anyone up there anymore. Please let me know if you find anything. You would like everything they put out. Thanks.
Looking out of my window, I can see autumn approaching. The leaves of the elder tree opposite my apartment are slowly turning yellow and golden and the big Maple's leafs are turning red and aubergine. It looks so beautiful on this early Monday morning. The sky is blue with white clouds and it looks like rays of sun touching the trees and give them a golden haze. While I sip my first coffee of the day, my eyes follow the group of small bean goose that are flying in formation, on their way to warmer places..... The soft sound of this blues song slowly fills my room. I listen to the hauntingly beautiful music and the sad sad lyrics and somehow I feel like crying. It is not that I share the same experience but I know the pain of being alone because your loved one isn't there anymore. I close my eyes and let this music touch me and I can feel the guitar puling the strings of my heart. There 's this melancholy that comes with the blues. It almost always gives me these bittersweet feelings I seem to need every now and than. Thanks again Don, for another gem you shared with us. Wasn't too keen on Peat Bog Faeries but liked Don Redman (Blues Walk). Thought Redman a dead look alike to Cab Calloway. Ended up with Fats Domino and Fats Waller (slightly sidetracked I know). WoW! -- 13 minutes of pure bliss. I LOVED the Hammond organ. It takes me back many years. It was part of the music I heard when I was growing up back in the 60s and 70s. There was never any other instrument that could beguile me quite like the Hammond, and it's still true today.

Hi dear Sandra, yeah it really is terrific chatting with you too. Time galloping away and I'm trying to hold on. Nearly completed your recommendations. Wasn't too keen on Peat Bog Faeries but liked Don Redman (Blues Walk). Thought Redman a dead look alike to Cab Calloway. Ended up with Fats Domino and Fats Waller (slightly sidetracked I know). Even with Don's explanatory notes, I try to listen further to the singer but hey, our best friend Don has grabbed the best songs, that and the time.
