I hear a lot of people in the comment section that states you need a high clearance 4x4, NO YOU DO NOT!, Most blm land is flat with low clearance. There are many areas on BLM land that are patrolled, ask me how I know. Been doing it for 24 years now. And if you things criminals do not go out to these lands, WRONG!, they do and their has been many cases of individuals having to deal with this situation. be careful wherever you are and take a garmin gps monitor with you, emergency equipment, protection if you can, a large dog. And if you can , go with a second person.
We stayed at stampede campground just outside of Pioche Nevada beautiful spot the elevation 6100 feet nice and cool weather there we stayed there for 14 days in the latter part of August 2022
Goose Island is a FCFS BLM campsite and is between Moab, Utah and Arches National Park. It has a small camping charge and includes outhouses with no water. I've camped there 4 times. The restrooms are usually smelly, but the convenience and low cost makes it a desirable night stay.
Over the last 40 years I average 3 to 4 weeks camping and 99% on BLM lands. I've only once seen a sign that states No Camping. Had magazine with maps of Blm lands. When land becomes private the first thing you see is a NO TRESSPASSING sign. TY to BLM.
Yakima canyon road was great! Even tho we had to evacuate from a forest fire, it was an unforgettable night and everyone is safe, and we found a safer spot to stay the night thanks to BLM campsites along the road. Learned what BLM was that night and will be for sure staying on BLM land in the future!
You can occupy the same site (camp, location) for 14 days in any 365 day period. Moving 25 miles is usually an accepted rule. Some sites are more closely monitored than others
Just FYI, BLM land is usually not well maintained and high clearance/4x4 is recommended. They are also not patrolled and communication is limited. Be safe out there folks and travel well prepared.
Good advice to keep newbies away. I enjoy blm and usfs with a low clearance Promaster and unarmed ( gasp!). People in the wilderness are here to enjoy the backcountry. The creeps are in the urban areas where there are more victims.
Because the absolute defamation and disrespect of Our Land by the EPA and other government agencies I go and camp where I want to explore what I want to explore I don't let government fences get in my way
i love BLM camping so much that i decided to go to one of their rallies but it got really out of hand and they tried to burn down the city. i guess they wanted to create more camping spots. now there’s tents lining those streets so i guess they were successful
A) I am NOT telling you my secret spots. B) If anyone is ever in Lake Havasu, AZ, stop but the BLM office there. There is a guy there who can tell you where ask the best spots are for EXACTLY the thin you want to do. He's like a free travel guide for all the free camping and recreation.
I'm not so sure this is a good video. There are a lot of ranchers/folks who graze cattle, sheep, etc....and use the BLM land as though they "own" it. I've been confronted and threatened by such people when I was hiking legally on BLM land...some of those persons carrying weapons.
I haven't had any issue with people leasing BLM land for livestock, etc, but I have had one persoanl experience with dopers from the city, and quite a few of the "campers" I've passed while looking for a site were very sketchy looking . Living in the PNW, you get to know the "types."
Thanks for sharing that video. What is up with the East Coast not having BLM land? I live on the east coast, and I would love to camp Blm style so I can visit my family and camp at the same time. I always camp for free(BLM). Can anybody answer that question? I would love an answer. Thank you 😊
Ive always assumed its primarily a population density thing. Something like 80% of the population lives on the eastern half of the country. Lots of empty land/free range cattle acreage on the west half.
Also, the feds didn't start buying up land until the early 1900's and the east was largely populated by then. If they had thought of it earlier.............
There are some free camping in the Northeast. Do a search in You Tube in what state your interested in. Search “boondocking or free camping in New York” & you’ll come up with some videos. I have a boondocking playlist from these videos on almost every state.
BLM land is always my first choice for boondocking opportunities when out West. I am a full-timer and anytime I am West of the Rockies, you can usually find me on BLM land (or not find me ;). If I was to pay $30-$80 bucks a night for campsites, I would be broke in no time flat. Besides, there are no reservations on BLM land and there is always somewhere you will fit that is open; often you will have the whole place nearly to yourself. Yes, the roads can be rough, and sometimes it is REALLY an off-road adventure, but that also cuts way down on who will be near your camp. If you own an RV and want to live as “rent free” as possible, BLM land is the ticket. Back East, there are National Forrests and some state lands that allow dispersed camping. Not nearly as plentiful as the BLM, but when supplemented by Wall-Marts, Cracker Barrel’s, rest stops and truck stops for quick overnighters, one can make due. Public land ownership is the only way this is possible. Every speck of land in the Eastern half of the country is almost always privately owned, whether it is used or not. If you want to see more of this kind of opportunity, support federal purchase of conservation lands anytime one comes up. Think of them like timeshares if you like. You already pay the dues (taxes), so don’t be bashful about getting the most you can from them, they are yours.

Sage advice. Unprepared personal experience can be a harsh master.
When camping in remote areas to you take a way of protecting yourself ?
Where would you say is top safest areas?

How do they know if you've been there 14 days, if no one is there to see? I love being in Nevada too.

Exploiting Black Lives Matter?! No voting for Joe Biden for you.
waiting to check out Valley of the Gods in Utah and try disperse camping, Thanks for the info.
Thank you that was very informative.
A more in-depth tutorial on how to use the app/website to find BLM lands would be useful.
There’s a ton of that on TH-cam already
The easiest way is to start collecting Gov't paper maps of the area you will be traveling. They still publish them, and they are accurate.
I'm sure you can find youtube videos dedicated to using camp pindium
Using the Campendium app and it doesn’t allow you to select BLM as a filter option. The screen you showed had a lot of options that aren’t on the app.
Great video! I could tell by the way that you took off on your bike that you're a real rider not just using a prop!

Can you move from one BLM spot to another every 14 days in the same area? Or do you have to go to another designated BLM land (another name) area?
you must move a minimum of 25 miles to reset your 14 day clock
@@jasonbarrett-pg1jy what kinda china bullshit is this lol
@@jasonbarrett-pg1jy how do they even know if you have been there that long?

Excellent information shared very well. TY! 🙂
Question. After you stay your 14 days, do you have to leave the ENTIRE BLM area, or just move a certain distance away?
Sounds great!

👍👍👍 very cool 😁😁😁
We need this in Texas
Would never happen. Texans have already turned the entire state into a giant ranch.
It’s all private land down there boy 🤠🐮🌾🌾

BLM land is millions of acres in various states. If you’re scared of one spot, move to another one.
How do people camp back east? If no BLM?
Do you have any information on the elimination of BLM lands?
So, and add for an app?
This is the channel for the app
Except the app doesn’t allow you to select BLM as an option in search filters.
I have a question for anyone experienced. When you want to go into town, is your campsite and gear safe from thieves?
