Thanks John. I'm not a huge fan of digital but Fusion is very easy to deal with. No memorization of room numbers, etc. as one can see what's available once connected to the C4FM/WiresX repeater. I have the FT-5D and the FTM-500 which work as they are supposed to however there are shortcomings that won't be discussed here.

Thanks John, very informative video. I just bought my son and I an FT- 5D, I also got an FT-70d... I'm going to use my 5D for a PDN in access mode. Can I set up Wires X on my desktop PC at home, and then have Wires X on a laptop for travel using the same 5D?

Greetings customer, yes you can run two different computers with WiRES-X and if using the saem device please be sure that only one computer is turned on and running the WiRES-X software at a time.

Good thing one of the requirements was not “easy to explain”.
I will say though after putting myself through this 45 minutes video, I am actually starting to understand it and might be able to be more of an advocate for YSF at our club. We have it but don’t really use it much.

Not proprietary? Who else makes YSF capable radios?

Greetings customer, your thought process about proprietary is not correct and because no one else manufacturers a radio that uses Fusion does not mean that it is proprietary. To add more to the comment if Fusion was proprietary then please explain the usage of Spot Devices being able to do Fusion. They do not license Fusion because it is an open protocol that anyone can use or add to a radio. - Admin Team

I thought "Yaesu System Fusion" was the Yaesu adapation of c4fm for amateur radio purposes. This includes things like the 4 operation modes like v/d, high speed data and fm analong...then linking ams with it and such.
YSF rooms... that is a partial misnimer, as there's no analog, high speed digital or ams for that matter.
