For people wanting to minimize, this is perfect. I’m often amazed at the dollar amount people spend for something to hold their cards and cash. I’ve used a rubber band for years but this is far better I think.
Seriously bada$$. I just started using a binder clip last week and I thought to myself "someone has put some time and effort into thinking this through logically and optimally." Best thing about the internet, I can instantly piggyback on someone's cleverness.
Take 2 old ,used shopping cards and tape each with aluminum foil and cover with duct tape. Make them the top and bottom cards of your stack . And you have added RFID skimming protection.
Fuck, ive been looking for a good wallet for almost 2 hrs and I'm glad i came across this before i wasted money on some gimmicky nasa tech latenight commercial piece of crap.
The problem of cards and currency was basically the last thing in my daily life that was a persistent annoyance. With this video you have allowed me to be one step closer to modern Nirvana. Thanks! Great system. side bonus is that the cash money covers your credit card number. My two most used cards are credit (almost nobody asks for my ID) and my Metro TAP card (which works best if it's on the outside). but I always feel a bit weird having my CC so visible (I used to use rubber bands). I do dislike having my bills visible but the convenience is worth it.
@Bentechnology Hey just wanted to say that I saw this video well over three years ago, stole a binder clip from work and have used this wallet ever since and loved it every day. Two years ago I received a very nice "minimalist" front pocket wallet for Christmas and it was literally the same size empty as my binder clip wallet with a greedy amount of cards in it. Just wanted to say thanks 👍
cool. I tried this idea out today, and already I can tell that it would be easy to misplace or even have it all fall out of my pocket. Someone else online had the idea to attach the clip to one of those retractable key ring things on a string. I did notice that when in a hurried line with lots of people behind me, I felt really fumbly trying to undo the clip and deal with putting change back in quickly. I figure over time that would be easier- it's just new compared to what i'm used to doing. One speed adaptation I'm trying is that I took pliers and bent the tips of the wire flaps out a little, so that placing my palm on the flat butt end of the clip, I can reach across and easily grip and pull back both wire ends at the same time. thought you might find that handy- it's easier than digging in under each end with your fingernail trying to pull it back, if that makes sense. Also, there is a faster way to put change in it. you don't have to take all the bills out and stack them all back up. You can just slide the end of the change bills under the open flap of what's already there, wrap them around the outside, and refasten the clip. I love that with the big clip i'm using, I can set the whole thing upright on it's in and it stays vertical. I just think that's really cool.
good video...I have been using the same binder clip like the one you show here. I have been using for cash only (didn't want to carry a wallet with my cards 'and' cash to my local bar...where I only pay with cash)...never thought about incorporating my cards with it...great Idea mate.
This is a great idea. Maybe kids should try this with their School ID and library cards and whatever Cash they have. The way how the bills are wrapped around makes it sleek. I'm thinking of trying this method when at school since I don't need a large chunky wallet all day and I only need like 3 or 4 cards at most. .
I use a card holder ( I use credit cards for everything, casback, points, purchase protection, dispute charges, etc etc) and I keep a money clip with 1$ 2$ and 5$ bills for tip money, I like keeping them separate so my valuables are a little more spread out
This is so good! 🙂I've been wanting to replace my ridiculously bulky wallet awhile. Especially as I get more interested in ultralight backpacking. But also with wanting my purse as light as possible. Its really annoying to me to feel loaded down by or posture effected by overly heavy or bulky purse or wallet yet I also like being prepared. So I find the ultralight backpacker mentality of thoughtful minimalism that considers every ounce takes research and planning but is worth it to feel prepared and light.🌿This video is super smart. My only issue is it is not waterprooof and no section for coins. I like all the money to be together and ready as one single unit to go in a purse, bag, or safely deep (zipper ideal) pocket. Waterproof is important to me too. 🌿Lamination on cards is plenty of protection. But there can be issues sometimes with laminating (or clear taping) certain cards like car insurance, vehicle registration, Social Security, Medicaid. Cause of their security features or something. That makes them vulnerable to moisture and tears to have them just be paper. So next I'm gonna look for good, clear plastic litttle single card insert pockets as lightweight as possible. 🌿Hmm that makes me wonder if a foldable, clear plastic insert pocket could work well for just the bills and still using this system. 🌿Either that or a lightweight, simple, waterproof (including any zipper being waterproof...I think its called seam-taping?) to go around this entire little binder clip packet.🌿Anyway of you have follow-up ideas or video on adding waterproofing and coun storage into this binder clip system I'd love to hear it!🌿Another minimalist tip is not all cards need to be kept cause the info is stored digitally. For example, my grocery store discount card info is found by typing my phone number. Library card I just show driver's license to librarian and they find my card number for checking out books, xeroxes, computer. I also had a bunch of outdated cards from when I lived in another state or had old accounts so I just cut them up.🌿
P.S. Thinking on it more, maybe I'll go with the 3.15" x 4.72" zip pouch by Fiordland Packs. About $12.13 plus shipping. It comes in abrasion-resistant, lightweight, waterproof laminates: X-Pac or Ecopac. Ecopac is I think more sustainable and low-toxic than similar fabrics X-Pac or DCF? Waxed hemp/cotton canvas would be more natural but maybe heavier and less waterproof? 🌿I guess the coins could just be loose in there and be sure they don't come spilling out when pull out the little binder clip package. But I'm very open to hearing other peoples' ideas.
My work just gave me a money click, I was just using it the standard way, didn't really like it, returned to wallet, so far I am really liking this, good work.
This is almost like a magic trick you did with your money hahaha 🤣 yeah I'm from Australia and the concept of using money clips is foreign to us down under, us Aussie blokes generally just use a wallet but yeah the wallet does become bulky in your pocket, out of all the money clip videos I've seen this binder clip idea is most intriguing, I've learned something today, thanks mate I'll try it!! 😎👍🏻
Really like your idea, I am definitely going to use this system and i like the way you have put your own time into this to find what you would like as a wallet/money clip. Thanks for posting this video really appreciate it.
I thought of this before but instead of rolling the money i folded the money in between cards but was too bulky you have a great suggestion thanks men! before I tried this I was just using a rubber band that was simple too!
Seems like a trivial topic, but minimizing the junk in your pocket is a huge deal. I used just a rubber-band for a long time but a lot of fumbling involved during checkout.
Been using binder clips for almost 15 years now. WAY more functional than wallets. However, I don’t see the need to wrap the cash around the cards and IDs, creates extra steps. Personally I just fold my bills in half and keep them on top of the cards & IDs, that way I can use any of it in one loosening of the clip.
hey man, maybe when you get cash out, instead of bringing the clip back down off the cards once you put the money back around, just pinch the clip and slide the money up. just one less step to deal with. thanks for the vid.
I know peddlers love to see you at the register. Excuse me I know you got some cash to spare help a brother out.🤣🤣🤣 talking about saving money on a wallet that was genius.
Nice one. Simple approach yet effective. But the flip side to this approach is you can't use it in places where it is humid and people usually sweat. If you keep this is your pants or anywhere, the currency notes will be drenched in sweat. Even the magnetic strips of your cards might be exposed to sweat, which I don't know has any effects on the longevity of it or not!!
I imagine those asking about coins must be Canadian or overseas somewhere, because coins in the U.S. are too small of a denomination to generally carry about. Most Americans simply pocket their loose change and then put it in the console in their car or the coin jar at home.
I'm also currently looking for a minimalist wallet. One question: Bills are very dirty, why would we want them to be touching our pants, shirts, or hands? In this sense a wallet is better
This doesn't work well with euro notes because they are taller and less wide (the 20 dollar bill is 2.6x6.1 inches whereas the 20 euro note is 2.8x5.2 inches
I’m just like many of you in that I've used a binder clip as a wallet for years now. People always tried to buy me a new wallet, but up until now nothing has been an improvement over the standard binder clip. This week we launched edwin on Kickstarter. It’s a modern minimal wallet inspired by the binder clip. The edwin wallet takes what many of us love most about the binder clip, its perfect simplicity and unbeatable clamping force, and transforms it into a wallet for the modern minimalist - simple, functional, robust, reliable, and contemporary. You can see it in action here. www.kickstarter.com/projects/897010326/edwin-a-modern-minimal-wallet-inspired-by-the-bind

I'm impressed. A very simple, cheap effective system. Well done. And you are gracious enough to share with others.
People complain about the length, but I found your delivery soothing. :-)
That's what she said.
Wow, I've been using binder clips for over 10 years and NOW I know how to really use it thanks .

Wow! @3:39-4:39 the “nuts and bolts” how to! Well done! Thanks! Elegant desig
Man, you did a GREAT job of demonstrating that.
OMG my son will love you - I'll send him the link to this. Thanks for showing, Nicole from Canada
Thanks. You just saved me from wasting cash on a clip

Simple and effective demo. Thank you for uploading.

Great stuff - thanks for the video. M Clip works great in this style as well if you want to upgrade from the binder clip.
Just what i was looking for (and the price is right)! Thank you!
Nice final touch to a cheap alt. Thanks for sharing.

Very slick. Came across your video while looking for a money clip to go with my RIFD blocking wallet. Makes sense.
I use a card holder ( I use credit cards for everything, casback, points, purchase protection, dispute charges, etc etc) and I keep a money clip with 1$ 2$ and 5$ bills for tip money, I like keeping them separate so my valuables are a little more spread out
You are MVP, saved me from throwing money.
guys chill he is pretty smart. none of u would of thought of this he can make something like this and make alot of money out of it

Grateful for this very informative and thorough video. Thank you!
Thank you so much for showing me how to think simply and...save lots of money buying expensive unecessary products 🙏🙏🙏
Kudos to you, man. Nicely done!
Nice trick. Like it, I called this Mc Gyver Money Clip. Thanks for upload this video.
I use to use this system and it worked and now I have made my own system
do you still stick to the system you're mentioning in this comment? if yes: what is it?
bravo! i was about to buy a money clip…thanks for saving me some money to put into my new binder clip! :)
I thought of this before but instead of rolling the money i folded the money in between cards but was too bulky you have a great suggestion thanks men! before I tried this I was just using a rubber band that was simple too!
at 2019.... this is still very
useful/practical... Thanks mate!
Great idea! I certainly would have used this if I hadn't of already purchased my nice titanium money clip.
Seems like a trivial topic, but minimizing the junk in your pocket is a huge deal. I used just a rubber-band for a long time but a lot of fumbling involved during checkout.

Your cash Is the wallet! :)
thank you, I saved money because of this video.
I know peddlers love to see you at the register. Excuse me I know you got some cash to spare help a brother out.🤣🤣🤣 talking about saving money on a wallet that was genius.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Kat Seriously? Ever heard of the Mitchell wallet?
Thanks im always using this now instead of my big wallet
any problems with it messing up the mag strips from pressure
What size did you use? Thank you.
have you noticed any wear of CC numbers with the clip? great idea.
Great idea! Thanks for the vid!
you can use a smaller one, just swap out the silver part from a larger one.....been using this for years
Thanks a ton-this is awesome. I'm a cheap skate and tired of a wallet.
Man this is so practical!

Sohan Ghosh That's exactly what I was thinking. This method isn't for sweaty Indians like us. 😛
Ziplock bag...
Wow , I hope I can find that clip
I use a clothing hanger spring action clip as a money clip it can hold both cash and cards securely
Nice man. Awesome!
Nice, now the only thing it needs is an update for rfid protection.
Awesome thank you 😊
🌟 Hi great idea ☺ I will try it. Thanks 💰 Have a great day...
Brillant. Thanks for sharing
This is cool! Thanks!
This is pretty good ive been using it for like 6 months, get a bigger binder clip it will help out xD
Two of the best things I've ever done was 1) ditching my wallet and 2) stop balancing my checkbook.
That is smart man. U made a clip wallet with things we have in the house.
What about coins you will get them back as change.???
How many people put their loose change in their wallet?
If you dont care about keeping the money nice & neat, itd be easier & faster to just fold the bills once.
hey what’s up i might try it out
Very good idea I used have the real money clipper
smart and a good idea
I start using binder clip as wallet to
Good idea
What size do you use? Thank you!
Wow reeeaaallly nice man
Awesome !
what if your change is dimes, Nichols or quarters?
+deloris johnson The solution is that little pocket inside/above the big jeans-pocket - the small one that people rarely use.
was going to buy a money clip but now im not. got tons of those around so you saved me money
now you have more money for your moneyclip :D
very cool
I love it!😄 but what if u have loose change?😬
change?
The poor man's M-Clip. But hey, it works.
This is genius.
Do the cards not warp at all over a long period of time?
Banking/credit card will likely expire by then anyways.
I imagine those asking about coins must be Canadian or overseas somewhere, because coins in the U.S. are too small of a denomination to generally carry about. Most Americans simply pocket their loose change and then put it in the console in their car or the coin jar at home.
Not really
What if you don't have pockets?
I carry around a second binder clip, put the coins in to the little slot made by the bills, and clip it
+Luther Hendricks Yeah man you guys and your $1 notes :D I wish we had those here in the UK, we used to years ago, now £5 is our lowest note :(
Cool idea bro!! But what about coins?
+Nick Langdon get a coin purse at the dollar store
jaja i have use one of those for abour 7 years for me it works really good
D
Cheap n versatile
that's pretty smart
What do you do with change?
Soo clever

The one time i cant find a gosh darn binder clip.
Smart
Cheap seems to be the key word here hum ?
i read in 8th grade and i bought a new wallet 3 days ago with $12

wow so smart
wow that was an American "Explaining" obviously to other Americans how to use a spring clip as a wallet !!! lol
good simple idea and cheap to
