Larry Allen might be the best guard to play the game, could bench 700 pounds and to make that sprint run down is one of the most insane plays I've ever seen. Also a gentle giant, wish the Vikings could have had him.
Larry Allen (the very last one) was a 7 time all pro, 11 time pro bowler, on the 1990's all decade team, on the 2000's all decade team, on the NFL's 100th Anniversary all time team, is in the Dallas Cowboy's Ring of Honor and is was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013! Not bad for big guy. Lol
B.J. Raji play sticks with me the most because I am a Packers fan and that play was the touchdown that got the Packers to the Super Bowl in the 2010 season. His dance was hilarious; it still makes me smile to this day.
the '85 Chicago Bears used this tactic on Green Bay 1 year after Green Bay humiliated them at the end of the '84 season. They then used it as an actual play at first at the goal line and then at other times. #72 William "The Refrigerator" Perry was their favorite Big Guy. He was 335# during this season as of 2021 he's 450# and needs a wheelchair. This got called the "P Formation. The Chicago Bears were also the team that created the "T Formation" back in 1933.
The first clip featured a defensive player playing on offence (occassionally) in the Super Bowl for the 1985 season. That Bears defense is considered the greatest of all time. He was one of the few players over 300 pounds. Now every team has half a dozen or more players heavier than that. Chicago hasn't won a championship since. The Bear at 6:25 was several decades later.
8:42 It's not the guy carrying the ball that is the big guy. It is the guy that caught up with him & chased a very fast linebacker down. In some ways this is the most impressive of any of them. I can't remember if you did Major League Ball Girls. If not you have to do one of those. Sometimes it isn't the pro players that are the most impressive.
I am not sure if this qualifies but in 1993 Reggie White recovered a fumble and ran it back 10 yards. He had the presence of mind to lateral the ball to LeRoy Butler who ran 30 yards for a touchdown and kept running threw the endzone and jump the wall into crowd, later known as the Lambeau Leap.
Big Guys is an understatement. The Offense Lineman all 300 lb PLUS. The Defensive Lineman around 280-295, amazing how fast ALL of the players are, especially the big guys
2:37 the avg 40 yard time for nfl lineman is just over 5seconds. might not be 191lb Tyreek hill 4.2 second speed, but at 350lbs that's a lot of weight moving very fast. lol
With "Refrigerator " Perry, as the story goes during a press conference early on with his time with the Bears, someone slide a refrigerator behind him, and you couldn't see it. So he was bigger then an actual refrigerator. This was back when no NFL player was as big as most current linemen. Now they are expected to be bigger and still pretty fast despite their size, so they can run down quarter backs if on defense, or assist their QB is on offense.
Look up William the refrigerator perry and what he ate for breakfast because he could put it away like a refrigerator and his vertical jump will amaze you his speed sideways down the line was amazing.
A few times a year, a big man will line up as a running back when they are near the goal line to just plow into the pile and try to go for the touchdown like in the first clip with the Fridge.
Just as an FYI, in the NFL the bigger you are the higher your jersey number. Mostly because of the position you play. Single digits and teens are usually Quarterbacks. 20s and 30s are usually Running Backs, Full Backs and Half Backs. 40s and 50s are usually Offensive Line. 50s and 60s, Specials Teams. 70s are Tight Ends and Corners. 80s Wide Recievers, and lastly 90s are Defensive Line. Offensive Line can be big, but Defensive is usually bigger.
Thing is, the big, heavy guys are usually defensive linemen who don’t get to score very often. Safeties also tend to be pretty big, but they tend to be more muscle than fat and double as a far field receiver when they need to as well as be the deep field blockers for the usually faster and more agile receivers. But yeah, it’s not that often when a 300+ pound lineman gets the ball and hits the zone.
I cannot believe what must go through a safety's mind when he usually must stop a 275 lb ball carrier and now in front of you is a 380 lb guy running as fast as he can straight at you. One word: Fear!
You mentioned baseball....if you can find a compilation of Bartolo "Big Sexy" Colon....hilarious to watch, and surprising athletic skills. Baseball's lovable big guy.
I know that these are fairly recent clips. IMO one of the greatest big guys was Earl Campbell- the Tyler Rose-who played for the Houston Oilers back in the day.
When American Football list a big player, typically linemen, at 300lbs (137kilos) they're really 320lbs (145kilos). A player listed at 330lbs is really 350-360lbs (164kilos). There even has been players who were 400lbs (182 kilos), which make their athletic achievements all the more remarkable. Imagine a cute little Futbol player being chased down by an opposing player literally over twice his size and 3 times stronger. The last play by Larry Allen, 340 easy and the strongest man in the NFL chasing down another big man 100lbs lighter than he, was the most athletic play I've ever seen by a big man.
Just to give folks an idea of how big these guys are (if you weren't already familiar, here are some stats: Here's some stats; William "The Refrigerator" Perry - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 335 lb (152 kg) Busari Alamu "B J" Raji (Jr.) - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 337 lb (153 kg) Daniel Connolly - Height: 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), Weight: 305 lb (138 kg) Brett Keisel - Height: 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m), Weight: 285 lb (129 kg) Vincent Lamar Wilfork - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 325 lb (147 kg) Shaun Rogers - Height: 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), Weight: 350 lb (159 kg) Donald Ward Penn - Height: 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), Weight: 315 lb (143 kg) Keith Traylor - Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m), Weight: 340 lb (154 kg) Sam Adams - Height: 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), Weight: 350 lb (159 kg) John Stuart "Jumbo" Elliott - Height: 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m), Weight: 308 lb (140 kg) Dontari Poe - Height: 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), Weight: 342 lb (155 kg) Larry Allen - Height: 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), Weight: 335 lb (152 kg) - Was the Offensive Tackle who from the far side of the field to make the tackle on the guy that was "fast for a big guy" - who was Linebacker Darion Conner who was "only" 6 ft 2 in, (1.88 m) and 250 lb (113kg) On Average, Offensive and Defensive Tackles are the Tallest and Heaviest Players on the Field, Some Defenses use a "Nose Guard" or "Nose Tackle" these are often the heaviest men on the field. Currently, Offensive Tackle Trent Brown is the heaviest man in the NFL, listed at: 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) and 380 lbs (172 kgs) (I am aware that these stats may vary from a player's playing weight at various times in their career - but they give reasonably clear idea of the size of these men.)
Love your reaction! I recommend a major league baseball clip of Nolan Ryan a pitcher for the Texas Rangers when a batter for the opposing team Robin Ventura charged Nolan Ryan after being hit with the baseball and Ryan schooled Ventura why you never try to assault a man from Texas! It happened in 1993 and people still talk about it today!!!
You two should check out the legendary power of Butterbean. He's fighting best big guy, and fun to watch. At less than 6ft tall and almost 400 pounds he could knock the stupid out of an elephant.
@jayclean5653 dude held two world titles and fought in 3 different combat sports. He couldn't go past 4 rounds. Who cares, he ended most in the first anyway.
@jayclean5653 he and Tyson were going to clash for his super heavy weight title when Tyson was unifying the belts. If Tyson wanted his belt who are you to sneer at it? Fought some of the same guys. He was a legitimate puncher. He has the fastest knockout in history, knocking the guy out before the bell stopped ringing. You can watch the fight on youtube. The match clock never even ticked over.
Back in the day, the linemen were just big fat guys with good technique (especially on offense). But nowadays they're superhuman, 300+ pounds and and can run almost as fast as the average quarterback.
Larry Allen was from back in the day and in his prime no lineman was better and he would dominate in today's soft NFL same goes with Anthony Munoz, Nate Newton Eric Williams all would dominate today

The Refrigerator Perry is a Chicago Bears legend. Fun fact, he lost a lot of his teeth playing football.
I'm a Vikings fan - The Refrigerator is a football legend!
William “Refrigerator” Perry is a Chicago Bears player who was “big” in the 80s. Everyone was doing the Super Bowl Shuffle 😂
they may not get the name because in England fridges are tiny.
Love the big guy plays. Nobody tops the OG “The Fridge” William Perry
