    1) Deep condition with a good hydrating deep conditioner. Not just a regular conditioner...
    2) If using a regular conditioner, add olive oil, coconut oil and a few essential oils.
    3) Heat up your deep conditioner prior to putting it on your hair for maximum penetration
    4) Put on your deep conditioner and put on a plastic cap to generate heat or use a hooded blow dryer
    5) Deep condition in sections to get all of your strands (unless your hair is short)
    6) Apply to root to tip of your hair shafts/ strands (NOT ON YOUR SCALP)
    7) Leave on for a minimum of 30 minutes with applied heat.. The longer you leave it on the better (I don't go over 4 hours).
    I think that's all I got for now, going to un-pause your video and continue watching!!! FYI I love that this video is 35 minutes!!! I am so excited!! I personally hate short videos. I'd prefer 10mins + because I can get more information that way.
    Edit: Just noticed it was 5 minutes lol, still liked it though (would prefer a 10 minute video tho)

    This is one of the most important rules of deep conditioning 4c natural hair. Never rinse it out with cool or cold water, especially if your hair is low porosity. It's best to use lukewarm water.

    • @destinyjones9480
      @destinyjones9480 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I do diy conditioners with eggs .. I don't want to cook it

    • @Josh-el1lr
      @Josh-el1lr 8 ปีที่แล้ว +59

      +Destiny Jones If you're trying to use eggs for protein, the molecules in eggs are too large to penetrate the cortex and strengthen the hair's cuticle. Hydrolyzed proteins are what actually strengthen the hair.

    • @VanessaElizabeta
      @VanessaElizabeta 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Hey, Josh. Can you explain why? I never knew this. I always do my final rinse with cool/cold water.

    • @Josh-el1lr
      @Josh-el1lr 8 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      +Vanessa Jones For low porosity hair, the cuticles are already sealed pretty closed. So, cold water tends to shut them too tightly. While cold water May seal in the moisture from your deep conditioner, it can make it somewhat difficult to moisturize it later, at least for me. When I rinse my hair with cold water, it feels dry and hard even when I know my conditioner and deep conditioner penetrated my hair. It's best to do a final rinse with cool or cold water if you have high porosity hair and your hair needs to be sealed in tight. That's when cold water is best used.

    • @VanessaElizabeta
      @VanessaElizabeta 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Josh George Thanks. I think I have low porosity hair but have just been mindlessly doing the cold water thing because of something I had read.

    Of course, it's also important to remember that outside products can only do so much. health starts on the inside, and what you eat, as well as how much water you drink, will show up in your hair, skin, nails, etc. notice that a lot of naturals who have long shiny hair, also have amazing diets. That's not to guarantee that every woman (or man) will see the same results. But it's definitely worth experimenting with.

    I never understood why folks deep condition on dry hair before shampooing. That never made sense to me but I guess to each their own.... Plus I never deep condition longer than 30 mintues. I sit under my dryer so that conditioner can penetrate my strands. I hate going to bed with wet hair. Great tips!!

    • @pearlsamb8299
      @pearlsamb8299 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Tiff God the only time I do the DC like a prepoo on dry hair(which is rare) is when it's been quite a while since I washed it and I think just starting with shampoo will strip it. OR if I've been rockin that puff for a while, and it'll help with detangling. But then, I usually am adding some water at some point too. I'm with you on that 30 mins.... if it needs longer than that, it's no good!

    • @MzzShaybaby94
      @MzzShaybaby94 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have three daughters and we all have hair past BSL thst retains moisture well except one. I had to do the LOC/LCO method everyday to keep it moisturized but it was dry the next morning. I finally stumbled on your video about deep conditioning and gave it a try. I would have never thought to deep condition a 3 year olds hair. Well, lo and behold...her hair stayed soft and moisturized without me having to add additional products throughout the week. Thank you for the info, you have a faithful subscriber.

    I just got my deep conditioner today and as I’m watching this I’m letting it sit in my hair. I have 4c hair and it’s very damaged and won’t grow because I use to put it in those cheap tight black rubber bands as a kid, it broke off and refuses to grow. Now as an 18 year old finally out of school I have decided to take a break and work on my hair so that I don’t feel ashamed anymore when I go out. I don’t know much about deep conditioning which is why I’m binge watching TH-cam and I haven’t found anything interesting UNTIL I found this video! It actually explains what your hair needs and what it doesn’t, why you have to do it a certain way and the benefits unlike the other videos. Thanks!

    When I condition my hair, I never completely rinse it out. I don't like squeaky clean hair. I don't use a towel, because it defeats the purpose. I prefer to use a smooth cotton t-shirt to blot out excess water. Then I use a leave in conditioner. I then comb my hair gently and slick it back to my neck. Then I add baby oil with aloe vera. My final step is to allow it to air dry.

    I enjoy your videos, so helpful. "Dolly" loves deep conditioning, we do it weekly. Before I apply the DC, I add my oil mixture to my scalp and massage. Then, I put condish on my hair, starting at the ends and go up. Finally, I add a bit more oil mixture to the ends, cover with a plastic bag and sit under the dryer for 20 minutes. Dolly appreciates it and she tells me so; she is soft and moisturized. Again, thanks for your videos, great job.

    I am so grateful for you and your knowledge. No one who had my type of hair coming up knew how to take care of it. Lots of shame and ignorance that I've shaken free of doing the BC. Excited new subbie here. Can't wait for you to aid me on my new natural hair journey PROPERLY. 💚

    NappyFu you are one of the true 4c hair TH-camr. If some of those other so called 4c is for real then you and i must be around 5d or 6c and the hair typing experts needs to add some more categories to accommodate us. Hahaha!!!!! Love so much for keeping it real. Merry Christmas!!!!

    Hey NappyFu TV, I am a 3c/4a ish hair type and i sometimes still have a hard time finding hair videos for my hair. I also noticed that it is even harder to find many 4 type hair videos. I am so glad that you are doing this! This video was also very helpful. Keep the good work up love!

    Here because I’m learning more about my hair. It’s shorter, so I’m not sure which spots are 3c, 4a, or 4b but I did learn my hair is low porosity. I recently dyed my hair so I’m looking into this videos to ensure proper care. I’m think of deep conditioning twice a week with this dye.

    I always grease the inside of my shower cap with Olive oil for a better conditioner, it has really softened my hair.

    Thank you so much for the videos for 4c girls! I'm locing my 4c hair, but my daughter's hair is still loose. I need these pionters for her beautiful short length 4c hair! I DC her hair every week (except when it's braided or flat ironed) I always use Shea Moisture for her hair, her hair loves the line!!! I give her a o protein treatment every 2-3 months.

    I pull my twists together and saturate my ends. Then I saturate the roots and work it down.
    I leave it on till I feel like going back in for wash day duties. This is a whole job and I'm enjoying my break.

    I agree lol but for my hair, Camille Rose works best for me. I have to spend a little more on my hair. My hair has been healthy and moisturized ever since. I love the truth in this video. It’s not long, it gets to the point.

    If i use my DIY natural conditioner I leave it on for a little over an hour, a store bought I only use it says. Like the avocado, banana & honey one I did - my hair loved it but I only left it on for about 45 minutes. I love your videos!

    I enjoy your videos so much! I love how you mix in 4c scientific facts with 4c hair humor. Thanks to you I have begun to accept my 4c and embrace her for what she is made of. Your videos really helped me to learn proper 4c hair care techniques. Our hair type is WORK WORK WORK WORK (Rihanna voice) lol, but it's so worth it in the end when that growth be taking place right before your eyes. Thanks so much and keep em coming!! #NappyFuCheckingIn I love it!!
