I like how the game doesnt take itself too seriously, i mean the previous game was literally having you carry an arm, 5 skulls, arrows, 15 rocks , 2 spears , 7 soda cans , an axe and sticks in a backpack.
Good graphics tell absolutely nothing about a game nowadays, unfortunately. Any game can have good graphics with engines like UE4 or Unity using it's asset store.
This is like those whacky cartoon animations where someone makes a dust cloud around a pile of scrap and magical build an airplane from it. I’m not complaining btw.
It's still funny to see physical things change size just to fit the final model. But I still appreciate the approximation to actual construction and crafting.
** SPOILERS BELOW DO NOT READ IF YOU CARE FOR STORY** Game has a solid start. Needs to add story elements to smoothen it up and add in old things from TF1 Edit - If you really put the story together in your head and use all the hints its very well done and theres even some elements of surprised and theories that you can make. Is that edward pufton with the younger kid fighting off the babies and the blob in the cut scene? Or is it Eric leblanc and his son tim ( from the first game) searching for answers to help cure tim. Tim and eric are both authors who have had best selling books you can find in the game.. ones about the forest, one is about time dimensional travels and alternative dimensions.. OR is it tim who we see in the start knock us out after our heli crashes in the silver coat. Is he the antagonist in this game trying to find this artifact because he knows of the different dimensions and travel that is involved. He lost the bidding war with the pufftons and knew what was on the island so he used mercs to help him take it over. Whoever lost the bidding war to the pufftons knew of the artifact and the metal that was spreading from the "cube" Which the cube is the reason why all the inhabitants of the island devolved and are back to primitive states.. This thing literally has dimensional travel between multiple dimensions and universes.. There is a note that says every 8 cycles it activates. In the time between the last activation and the new one. The island had a resort for the rich and the elite now on it. Which was discovered due the building of said resort. The discovery of the "mysterious metal" lead to the artifact.. which is why pufftons personal bunker has the entrance to the "Cube" in it. There are so many rabbit holes and possible theories you can go down with the start of this game.. if you think about it we are just some private military company sent in to save some important CEOS. As our character we do not know of anything of this cube and what affects it has. We are as lost as the protagonist is.

Its really smooth and atleast somewhat believable it isn't overly realistic to take so much of your time and not lazy making things happened magically like in the first game. I cant believe they still used unity for all of this and didnt bother to use a better engine, still impressive though
I played The Forest before and I gotta say, this is a nice thing for me to see. As much as how goofy it is, I’m fine with it, since this game is made by an indie team on the Unity engine.
