One of the best arcade games out there. I like how each stage has its own theme and plays well with the enemies and the boss. Also, each boss fight is unique and not just the usual where you only get to fight em at the end of the stage. The last boss is like the Emperor from THOTD2 done right. Instead of just a straight-up copy of the other bosses, he makes a variation of the moves instead, which brings new challenges to the player.
Oh god, my childhood nostalgia all over again! I still remember clearly just how frustrating aiming with analog controller was, even moreso since i also had hotd 2 on my pc with much easier control but still found it hard to beat

I always liked how Raoul boss reminded me of Judgement boss from HOD2, Guillaume is obviously the Hanged Man and the final boss itself goes from Hanged Man to Magician. Ah great times. One of my favorite arcade shooters I've ever played.
And let's not forget he also resembles Squall Leonhart, the main protagonist of Final Fantasy 8. They have the same outfits and associated with a beast and they both wield swords. In Squall's case, Griever (which happens to be his necklace) and he has a scar on his face while Raoul doesn't.
Too sad this game didn't even a sequel yet... Since I'm curious about that girl Will she become the next Vampire Hunter, carrying the legacy from these former 2 Vampire Hunters? Since in the end, both of them say something like this, "Please stay alive", "You must keep living' on", "You still have a long journey and you can't just decide to end it quickly"

Nah I am 35 and still finding niche games I have never seen before, My parents started me on the atari 5200 and been collecting since the ps2 and xbox only to get bored of all the other next gen consoles after that. Since then I have been more or less a pc gamer but I always do get the feel to play my old nostalgic games and ones I seemingly some how missed out on. Hell my avatar alone should tell you that Ninja Gaiden is one of my favorite franchises, how much more old school do you expect me to get than that lol?

Rail shooters like this these days are getting rare. I really enjoy playing them back at the arcade centers, and given the chances, on consoles as well. That said, magnificently done once again. I feel bitter for you not even trying to save the poor villagers on the first stage, though(you were supposed to shoot the thing attached on them to save them, not the people themselves lol).... Then again, not that you're supposed to be a true good guy, though; sometimes, situations can get real hairy.
Rail shooters really only work on CRT screens with high refresh rates. All these crappy modern smart TVs and even decent LCD monitors just can't handle fast-paced rail shooter action

Yeah true. i was thinking the character designer are actually really smart creating the boss character that looks really scary than i saw in entire horror games, actually not only scary but also gorgeous and cool looking. i remember when i was 11, watching the final boss fight on youtube, his head design alone make me terrifying in 1 week. until now im still little bit scary looking his face. but the more im looking him, it reminds me of Gundam wing from Endless walts gundam XD
The Training mode bosses are the same except for Bathe'lemy, Raoul, and Auguste, they're already in their vampire state with full health, good luck trying to kill Auguste on the 3rd level, its hard as hell and he doesn't change his form, plus he moves quicker and takes less damage
Man! Do you press the fire button and reload button simultaneously? Cause there are moments where it almost looks like you have infinite ammo. Either way, that's impressive.

XD But such as the "charm" of arcade players; I know some very dedicated players doing their very best beating the games, sometimes with only one credit(one of the biggest challenge by far)!
One of the many tricks classic console gamers often use, but even then, pressing two buttons at the same time(not counting the shoulder buttons, since it's easy to access) is a real feat indeed; your thumbs have to be long and flexible enough to press them together. And with the controllers just getting bigger to accommodate more buttons, so do the feat as well; you need big hands as well!
I had a buddy who had such phenomenal twitch reflexes in this game he may as well have had a machine gun. Nothing got near him, and somehow he was super sharp at shooting off those eye parasites and saving people too. So weird....
Even action-packed games have sad endings including this one. The heroes died. Another one is House of the Dead 4 in which James sacrificed himself to destroy The World.
I'm curious, did you set up your mouse on the emulator (doesnt look it) or are you just that good with the controller. For me most of these games are barely playable cause they require insane reflexes even with a light gun which is easier to aim than a controller crosshairs.
The last time I play with controllers, I have that difficulty as well, mostly due to the fact that it's too slow to move, and there isn't a option to adjust the sensitivity too, making it worse. It's a reason I prefer the light gun over controllers back then. But otherwise, everything is but challenges to me; there's nothing I cannot do at all(other than some calibrations needed when using the light guns on consoles) ;)

Rail shooters are still for arcades because devs nowadays don't create a screen gun for the latest home systems but those same rail shooters are almost fading into obscurity and yet those are the only popular games keeping arcades alive as arcades are pretty much an endangered specie.
Yeah, guns don't work usually to any modern non CRT screens sadly. Also arcade games are an obsolete game design because people rather have a long and rather simple story based game over an hardcore and replayable game...

There is also a Ninja based rail shooter, I think made by the same company called Ninja Assault. It even had a PS2 release IIRC.

Rail shooters are getting rare nowaday
Rail shooters are still for arcades because devs nowadays don't create a screen gun for the latest home systems but those same rail shooters are almost fading into obscurity and yet those are the only popular games keeping arcades alive as arcades are pretty much an endangered specie.
Yeah, guns don't work usually to any modern non CRT screens sadly.
Also arcade games are an obsolete game design because people rather have a long and rather simple story based game over an hardcore and replayable game...
The real question is why so few ended up on the wii

Raoul looks like Squall from Final Fantasy VIII and Count Auguste on his final form remainds me of Omega Weapon
Not gonna lie even tho the voice acting is unbelievably horrific , the character design of the two main characters and the vampire with the fur coat are pretty damn sexy lol

I don't know the game at all but I don't see a number next too your life counter on the bottom right so are you just skipping the parts where you take damage somehow or am I just missing something like the rest of the stage is where you took hits
So after watching more of this I am sure that I am missing the rest of stage

But the attacks were more like the the Emperor

Believe me, playing at mall arcade zone is frustating since they set the guncon sensivity -100 and forced you to buy another credits for real.
