Well Done! After spending the last few days with you and seeing how much work goes into your transcriptions, then filming your lecture and finally recording the piece, I was in awe of how hard you work for your Patrons. What a wonderful resource they have in you1
I suddenly have a very strong urge to buy the new Taylor Swift album. Great playing mister Lardner! It’s amazing how much energy and excitement comes out of the guitar with such basic chord shapes. The mystery of blind Blake lives on. Great work!
Wow, you nailed it! Again! Wishing belated, but sincere, Happy Thanksgiving wishes to you and yours. And, as always, much gratitude for your hard work in getting down to the detailed analysis of these classics of American guitar.
Another great one! But the best surprise of the video is that Andrew finally revealed who is his biggest musical idol: Taylor Swift (based on the green case right behind him). 😂
Thanks for this one Andrew, I've had Blake on my mind a lot lately. Curious if you are familiar with the Lonnie Johnson instrumental Handful of Riffs? If anyone could tackle it it's you.
In my mind the mystery of Lonnie Johnson is equal to that of Blake. Blake probably has a larger following but I think Johnson should be held at the same standard of excellence. I did a ton of research on Johnson in grad school and have a number of his pieces worked out. Handful of Riffs would be a blast, I've been quietly working on To Do this You Got to Know How and Uncle Ned, two of my favorites.
@@andrewlardnerWow. Look forward to hearing you play them Andrew. I’m 73, and listened to country blues since I was about 15; personally I love Lonnie Johnson as much as I do Blind Blake. Can I buy the tab for this piece from you Andrew?
Hello Gary. I don't offer my work for individual sale, unfortunately, but I am working on a Blake book with no current estimated release date. I have transcribed all of the things that I have recorded in the last four years and share the tab and a lesson video for each piece with my supporters on Patreon. It's something of a crowdfunding site that keeps me producing new videos every month. There's likely a good amount of things that will interest you there, including some old research on Lonnie Johnson.
@@andrewlardner, besides your good self, he's probably the best purveyor of Blind Blake, Rev. Gary Davis, Lonnie Johnson, and the rest of that great milieu. As my friend, Duck Baker says, "a lot of people take this music about 95% of the way. Ari takes it that last 5%." Ari has been one of my best friends for decades. Aside from being a master guitarist, he's also a real mensch. I hope you two meet up someday.
Ari Eisinger is one of the best unknown acoustic blues players on the scene. Check out his record "That Will Never Happen No More: Guitar Blues and Ragtime from the 1920s and 1930s"
Lovely. Blind Blake is such an inspiration.
It's a privilege to follow a musician like you, never stop, please.
✌️❣️😊
Phenomenal! Please play more Blake!

Awesome playing and brilliant Martin
Blind Blake died 90 years ago today. RIP (12/01/1934)
Wonderfully played, thank you.
Thanks for listening

Thank you Malcolm!
Sounds great!
So nice! Cheers 👏
Incredible. Thanks for doing that one.
So excited about this one! Wonderful choice! Great playing as always.

Great job!
Nobody saw clearer than Blind Blake....thanks Andrew
Sounds good!
Applause and Thank you!
Outstanding!
Sublime!

Haha I hate to disappoint everyone but that’s my wife’s LP case for her somewhat substantial Taylor Swift collection.
Perfection 👏 Love that Martin.
Is it a 000-18? How old?
Thank you. Yes, 1935.
@@andrewlardner Love that tune. Marvelous instrument...sounds SO GOOD! Love the tune and the TONE. You make it sing. 🙂

Beautiful! Swifties unite!
I’ve got a whole other channel dedicated to Taylor Swift.
This was a suggested AI response haha
@@andrewlardner please link. I’ve been trying to learn some of her stuff.
Sweet work! Are you familiar with Ari Eisinger?
Other than knowing that he teaches a lot of this stuff I'm not very familiar unfortunately.

@@dougmackenzie5976Pretty much agree. But Carlie Hunter (even though he’s not as meticulously accurate) swings more than Ari when doing Blake.
