i liked the little animation of storing things in Colfenor's Urn. I'm very confident i would have understood how it worked without the animation, but it was a nice touch that explained how it worked visually as well. I paused the video to write this lol
but why would you play a nonbasic with an actually useless ability when you could play a nonbasic with a situationally useless ability? Like, try Underdark Rift. Removal in a land slot. Seems like it could be useful
Yeah but thought vessel, Prismatic lens, mind stone, Liquid metal torque all replace Arcane signet and some of them even have upside compared to signet. The value increases if you don't mind a little less, Grim monolith is a upgrade, Plague myr could sneak in some infect, ebony fly could give a bigger baddie flying, planar atlas could hit a land and secure a land drop for you,
This offered great insight. Always appreciate your takes! A video on Gandalf the White where you stray the deck from the norm would be a neat one to see.
Really hope there is a Gravemother video coming. Love to hear your input. It's always hard to wade through the stats for new precons cause alot of people post the decks as is and it kills the stats.
For cheap card advatage, the recent Zenith Chronicler seems quite solid as well, and Introduction to Annihilation is staple colorless pinpoint removal (also the budget list link doesn't seem to be working)
I've been running a Kozilek, the Great Disortion deck for a LONG TIME and had been debating on investing in the Eldrazi Pre-Con, or even the new singles in it for that matter. Thanks for this Upping the Average! I needed a better opinion on all of the options than just 'GET THE BIG BOIS~! SMASHY SMASH!!'
Void Gorger also sounds like a name for one of my exes. ;) thanks for reminding me about the infinite colorless tip. Totally should’ve remembered that, as a Kinnan player, but it’s going right into my own Kozi build.
There’s another way to build the deck in a way that allows Zhuldok to cascade a combo out deterministically by playing only the combo at less than 7 mana and the rest of it being lands and 7 mana spells. Painter’s Servant and Grindstone combo is the only I could think of that immediately is a threat and can get you to kill players off the table.
My main gripe with Zhulodok is that imoti can also helm this deck with land changes. Imoti IS the budget version of this, plays stronger cards like dig through time and treasure cruise and can play most of the same colorless haymakers plus those in simic
All is Dust just works way better on colorless, Spirit Dragon too. Besides that, I feel like people are really sleeping on ability copy effects like abstruse archaic, being able to cascade 8 times off a single spell is a level of value unrivaled in magic
have you guys actually read what zhulodok does? the Cascade Cascade effects only trigger when you cast something with mana value 7 or more from your hand. Not when you cast a copy in the stack from exile. Other than that Crucible is still a very solid include in the deck as is chimil if you want to cast everything for free. Also, try out Echoes of Eternity if you want multiple cascades. You can get 4 of them with echoes.
Awesome video i think it's funny you put in a lot of cards that are already in the precon. Just goes to show people make cuts or upgrades to things that might not be any better lol
For those of you just wanting to buy the precon itself and upgrading the biggest thing is getting the right creatures more than anything itself and then proper removal. Since there aren't that many instants and sorceries that are colorless your threat options rely on creatures more than anything else and your removal package is often built into those. Meteor Golem by example is normally a card that's terrible in most decks and same with Duplicant however they serve as optimal removal in these style of decks for how little options you have plus the golem gets you a cascade trigger too. Lastly is card draw and honestly if you can run all of the land draw effects since those are the most consistent. The precon comes with a few good options as is so start with that as a good metric and move on from there. I love how different of a style of deck Zhulodok provides and it serves as a replacement for big green stompy for how ridiculous turns can get. It's a fun deck when things work as intended.
@@Oopsall Are you thinking of Ulamog? Kozilek only draws cards on cast and I believe more people run the great distortion, which doesn't even have annihilator.
@@eewweeppkk It’s a safe guess to assume they’re talking about the Great Distortion, which can counter spells by discarding cards. That’s what I’m referring to by “removal on a stick”
Had that debate with myself, too. I decided I'll roll a d6 to decide between Zhulodok and the five legal titans before each game until I have a favorite.
This deck is sweet! I hope the enchantress deck works well in my commander league (the only reason I bought a precon for 75 dollars 😭) 1st week we play in a pod unaltered, then we get to make 5 swaps each week for 5 weeks :) I’m excited to see how the league turns out. The overall winner gets any box booster of standard legal cards
hello; will the other commander master precon get a video ? While slivoide have a lot of ressource I am struggling with superfriend and enchantment + gravyard. In any case great video as always
Edit: link to the budget list is broken :( Was really hoping you'd tackle this one, I've gotten the colorless bug since the precon was spoiled and I will be picking it up to start me off.
I pretty much already had a highly upgraded version of this deck, I just needed Zhulodok. Right now TCG says the value of the deck is almost $1000 lol.
One thing to note; any lands that rely on adding a color based on out commander will not add any mana to our mana pool, since colorless is not a color. So things like command tower are not good in this deck
How is Wondrous Crucible weird? How is it not already in the deck list? "All your permanents hace ward 2. Cascade, Cascade." Seems awesome even without the virtual card advantage that a single card cast from it nets you, let alone 3. That card is just bonkers in any huge stuff deck.
I actually disagree with cutting Scour From Existence and Spine of Ish Sah. While you're correct that they are expensive removal spells, they fact that they cost 7 means that they're also cascading thanks to our commander. So we're getting far more value out of them than just removal. And in a colorless deck, mana production is almost never a problem.
Myriad landscape says search for two basics that share a "land type" burnished heart says search for two "basic lands" waste doesn't have a land type. Weird magic rulings.
No, since Myriad Landscape has an additional restriction. It can get ONE Wastes, but not two, since the second Wastes doesn't share a type with the first one. (And there's no reason to put ML in a deck like this, since you'd he better off just drawing the Wastes instead of paying mana to search it.)
@@ArmadilloAl Assuming the rule restriction didn't exist then there would be a reason to run myriad landscape, it ramps you ahead by a land. I'd argue that it would have a better fit in this deck than most other decks (obviously ignoring the fact that it doesn't work in practice) since this deck doesn't do much without big mana so you can afford to waste your turn 3/4s on myriad landscape to get you closer to your cascades.
I ordered this deck for 85$ on amazon. Pre order price gareentee. They haven't shiped it yet.... which i sort of assumed they wouldnt tbh. It just says. We will enail you when we have an estimated date. F me i guess x3
If it makes you feel better, I preordered in April and they still haven't shipped yet. I have this tinfoil hat theory that they ship to the people who pay the most first.
Run more wastes to turn on endless atlas which this deck needs since there isnt much early game draw. Drawing a card is better than alot of the utility lands you mentiond IMO. But i respect it
nah, Atlas is really bad in this deck since you have like only one or two cards to fetch basics. You won't hit 3x wastes until mid game most of the games. So Minds Eye is 10x better. You can draw multiple cards and not just one per turn. Even Eye of Vecnar is way better than Atlas. You will end up with too many nonbasics for utility/ card draw anyways.
Honestly, i don't think it's the best idea to do these videos for new commanders. Of course the average deck is going to be a mess. Give it some time and revisit it, it makes so much better videos i think
In regards to this commander specifically there isn't really much to let settle. Its a colorless deck so the options are already super limited, and therefore super obvious.
Yo can you fix your website you put ads on there now it sucks. I'm fine with you guys making money off of ads. The quality of your website shouldn't go down too

A challenge for this deck and other colorless decks, arcane signet doesn’t work because your commander doesn’t have a color identity
Related: wastes cost too much if you don't have them. Terminal Moraine comes in untapped, makes colorless, and you can ignore the fetch ability.
but why would you play a nonbasic with an actually useless ability when you could play a nonbasic with a situationally useless ability? Like, try Underdark Rift. Removal in a land slot. Seems like it could be useful

I'm still debating if I want to swap Kozilek for Zhulodok, but this definitely helps.
Kozilek is “better” as he’s removal on a stick but Zhulodok is significantly more fun and ends games faster

Mines shipped yesterday after I called customer support, it’s arriving today woo!
I've run cards that either copy the commander or the effect like helm of the host or mirage mirror for more cascade triggers
Mirage Mirror would die immediately upon copying Zhulodok because he is legendary.
I put a metalworker in my deck and it pays off
Hey need make a deck kinnan bonder prodigy put the new eldrazi cards in there
The cascade triggers only happen on spells cast from your hand, so Wondrous Crucible doesn't trigger Zhulodok. Still a great card.
