How in any way is this cheating. It's strategically perhaps meant to sacrifice a late game piece, which does nothing early, and some games doesn't see play for a very strong minor piece which is usually a terror in many games, early, mid, and late game. It denies the dual bishop pair right from the bat. I'm guessing it could be powerful if you knew what you were leaving on the battlefield prior to using this.
I can see the logic of trading a rook for a bishop very early in the game. The rook is more an end game piece, particularly the Queen side rook if you plan to castle King side. Danya's Queen side rook moved just 3 times in the game and never left the back rank; not exactly an over active piece and one I'm sure he wouldn't have minded swapping out for that early bishop he traded.
there was no cheating as i could tell. All pieces moved as they should be. sure, he probably could have taken him out earlier, but it seems there was no rule, just racing the clock. So in reality, the hosts of this tournament/site need to be grown ups and reverse this and leave things to humans, not algorithms.
It’s a new opening and it’s repetitive nature will eventually be flagged statistically. The player is skilled at it and there is no learned move behavior to counter it at this speed level.
Danya is very skilled at 960 and I'd expect him to learn traps from the early games even with a short time control. Maybe a 70ish game match wasn't enough learning or tilt/fatigue was enough to offset learning.

Taking a rook with a bishop is dubious if files are not open, as is the case in the early opening. And then they go even further to say they are cheating. Seriously? No they worked hard and are talented. What the fuck do u expect?
Why is it hard to understand someone's desire to exploit their opponents comfort? Going in and trading a lot of pieces before the board is set so most players can't continue the 'hide and squeeze' type of gameplay they've become accustomed to seems legit. Sorry someone had to think sooner than half-way into the game.
"Backup account"... in other circles - known as "Smurf account", a disrespectful move to step away from your current rating, and play versus newbies. It's like Mike Tyson putting on a wig, to bash some featherweights. I'm A-OK with the ban - but the reason was laughably bad.
If your argument is that the purpose of this alt-account is to play against newbies, you're on pretty shaky ground. You do know that Danya is ranked higher than Brandon Jacobson, right? I don't know, maybe you don't. But I can guarantee that Brandon Jacobson does.

A generic commentor so good, Kramnik does the procedure on him.
Great channel! Great content as always!❤
Thanks so much!
THIS IS FUCKING INSANE just watching this pisses me off some people have been playing chess for so many years especially the commentators don’t know why they r so fucking shocked when they see a dubious but brilliant move I mean these chess players have fucking been studying chess for years and are smart as hell. And then they go even further to say they are cheating. Seriously? No they worked hard and are talented. What the fuck do u expect?
Are you really that naive?
Can someone explain to me, a chess novice who just stumbled in here, why he got banned for cheating?
He got banned for cheating because he used an engine
@@nostro1940 Really? That wasn't explained at all in the video. So he was accused of having an AI run his moves for him? What was the evidence?
@@Fluffyudders the evidence is in the video. It tho requires a minimum of 70 lQ points to see it
The swarming of the four Black minor pieces as amazing to watch. The Rook on e3 was helpless.
Why is it hard to understand someone's desire to exploit their opponents comfort? Going in and trading a lot of pieces before the board is set so most players can't continue the 'hide and squeeze' type of gameplay they've become accustomed to seems legit. Sorry someone had to think sooner than half-way into the game.
it's not so easy, winning these "wiining" positions against a strong player, especially (or maybe only) at short time controls
Daniel was killing him until he passed up NxRck about 3:38.
yeah v true
"Backup account"...
in other circles - known as "Smurf account", a disrespectful move to step away from your current rating, and play versus newbies.
It's like Mike Tyson putting on a wig, to bash some featherweights.
I'm A-OK with the ban - but the reason was laughably bad.
If your argument is that the purpose of this alt-account is to play against newbies, you're on pretty shaky ground. You do know that Danya is ranked higher than Brandon Jacobson, right? I don't know, maybe you don't. But I can guarantee that Brandon Jacobson does.
@@Odo_Fraggins
if you make an alt account... it usually means your rating is reset. No? :)
if both of his accounts are playing in the same Tier, then fine. I guess. But in gaming, it is frowned upon.. and even a TOS violation in some games.
1:05 "And now we see the *feen ketto* of _both_ bishops!"
Sorry, the *what* of the bishops? It's not just your accent; I'm a chess noob so I have literally no idea what you mean. 😅
Q1. How can anyone cheat in chess?
Q2. Especially in a 3-min. game?
I know these are silly questions but I'm learning at our school chess club and no-one knows.
With great difficulty but possible see my video called how to cheat at chess
Seriously?😅
The old fashioned way is to plug the moves into an online engine as you are playing.
The new way is to run scripts. Its basically a program that plays for you. Difficult to catch these people because they can turn it on and off.
Not for nothing I thought it was atrocious play by Danya early on when he could’ve taken the Rook with a check he passed up on it instead moving Queen elsewhere it seemed like he was playing to lose I did watch Gothams video on the subject of the cheating scandal he more or less felt two things either the guy is cheating or just being falsely accused he didn’t give his own opinion either way but he did want to set up an OTB rubber match between Danya and Brandan and said he might even bring Brandan on board for an interview most part terrible game by Danya I thought more so than anything Brandon did spectacularly not just taking pieces when he could did work out well for him Thanks James
3:57 f6 rook to f8 better no?
You might be right forget details sorry !
@@epicchess2021 Yeah I just walked through it and the opposing queen is basically checkmated with only one position openly available (g6) then it gets sided by the other queen eventually taking it out but the black bishop takes queen and mates the white knight too. This is honestly the best defense if bait is took as bishops are better than rooks and just creates a long game attrition any attempt to sacrifice your bishops should be avoided at the start of a game
You are using "emperor with no clothes" incorrectly. It's not such a literal saying.
But that’s the beauty of it I am using it in a literal sense when I say it
At 3:50 I guessed what he would play and got it right:D
I am unsure the play certainly seems dodgy to me, but it is difficult to tell. Thanls James.
Looks like cpu moves to me
I did not see cheating just good chess.
Also thanks for your great channel
thanks appreciate it and cheers for watching! Oh just saw your channel too, some cool blitz battles on there :D
@@epicchess2021 Awesome that you respond!! I leaped out with a Big WOW! I was a little concerned in placing the 'link' as it may, or could, or would, come across as self-promotion, which I personally try my hardest to steer from same, as I'm rather uncomfortable with that, although in case it's about Samson. So, I'm really happy with your response and your awesome feedback. I earlier spoke with my friend in Dunedin, this evening, and mentioned of your great channel, where he might have a look at least at GM Daniel's games. Also of course, other wonderful highlights of your dedicated chess channel. Thanks for the hard work it takes, for you on your channel. You're really good at it.
clearly a cheater. come on
The GM's use AI to study games... cheating? If you have a good memory, then ya kinda
Bullshit.
Not cheating
@@bozbozman1575good memory 🤣 Some people don’t even have an ounce of clue about what they are talking about, but feel the need to comment anyway
Bishop = +5
At the end, 2 bishops are better than 2 knights... difficult for white... so the result here is not so "incredible" at this level.
this is possible only because it was prepared with engines. so it is horrible itself. not to mention if it was even cheated. this is shit not chess
Seriously - would an engine sacrifice a Rook within 3 moves^^....
Maybe to get 2 strong bishops.
No, but you can do that on yourself and then use an engine to win with less material... Im not saying that he cheated... but for many players use the engine in one or two moves is enough to win...
Seriously are you dumb?

Cheating? What cheating? Perhaps spell it out for us mere mortals with your finely honed narrative skill. ;)
The game looked all over after 10 moves-to my untrained eye blacks recovery was highly suspicious. There must be some way of checking?
I heard some guy callled Kramnik can detect cheaters. Let’s ask him.
On today's Titled Tuesday, Magnus was experimenting with the 1.a4, 2.Ra3 line.

@@epicchess2021 Today's Late Titled Tuesday. Round 11. Magnus v Hikaru. Hikaru gave Magnus mate in one, on purpose. Magnus refused to take it. What was that about?

Trying to encourage chess in NZ, as per usual, would you like to participate in an interview on Zoom or the like? I would pay you for your time etc. I can also forward the monies if so desired to a Junior of NZ, or established club on your behalf, where you get the receipt. Just a thought, thank you.
Thanks for the suggestion and cool initiative for sure but right now I’ll have to say no I’m afraid, I’m getting quite a lot of requests for different things and I just don’t have the time whilst also juggling a day job and young family, apologies wish you all the best with it
@@epicchess2021 I completely understand, I appreciate you. Well Done. Sing out anytime, if you so desire. Go for your Million Subscribes, I added 1 2 the mix the other day. Warm Regards ~ Dave NZ. Make sure you have your breaks, I fell over a few years ago, after the earthquakes, etc, that rocked our city.
Let's go Brandon!
We all know engine chess when we see it
Welcome to woke chess. Ban someone for winning.
Woke Chess on fashion
First! Viih_Sou is savage! Nice one (let's go Brandon!)
The first will be the last.
Why Brandon has a brazilian account with a brazilian name: Vinicius Souza?
@@Joaquim1295 Because it's a smurf account, and smurfs are clean-shaven (except for Papa Smurf)
Go Brandon❤
Wow This is a stockfish 17
Danya is a terrible player
I am sure you are right. After all, he's not even in the top 100 players in the world, and is short of being a super GM by 50 points. I don't even know why such a patzer bothers to ever play chess again. Should be ashamed. I could beat him in chess...with a slight handicap where he removes a few pieces. By a few, I mean all of them except his king.
Nice
Rook sacrifice in the beginning, shouldn't be alarming. People sacrifice the pony all the time i.e Halloween gambit. I personally some times exchange rooks for knights. I am a low rated player but chess was supposed to be fun and challenging. Thats what I do. I play mostly. Taimanov sicilian and i get the chance to throw my pieces randomly and still win in bullet 😂
