I have found that the split rings and the cord that attaches the hooks are not real good quality. You can either replace them or just start out with a good set of hooks and rings and attach the naked jig. You can change jigs then and keep the good hooks / rings attached to your line.

Honestly, this brand of slow pitch jigs have been good to me. Haven’t had any issues with split rings yet.
What lb braid were you using?
