I just love how chill and genuine these guys are for being at the top of their sport. They are like "Yeah I do curling, it's fun"

@math3matics its a sport that requires over the top equipment and very dedicated space with a lot of upkeep the only people who do this are the six people on the Olympic team and the six who didn't make it

I grew up in a small farming community in Canada and when I went off to university I realized not everyone's dad made them curl with them and had a month-long curling unit in gym.

ik, I curl 2-3 Tims a week, and people think I am crazy because of it.
I hope they didn't make you spend as much time on the rowing machine as I was, curling is fun until you're working out 15h a week for it lol

The technicalities in every Olympic sport is so far ahead of what I know. But every time I sit in front of my TV eating snacks I say to myself "Ah that looks easy."

I've watched some curling in my time, and if I've learned anything it's that the primary reason Clay was having trouble getting the stone into the house on his first few shots is because he didn't yell at it hard enough.

Curling is quite amusing actually. I grew up in Canada and one day in elementary school, our p.t. teacher brought us to a curling ring in our small town. We almost killed one guy that day (had we not warned the very old man that a stone was going to hit him at great speed) but it was fun!
I'm British and havs enjoyed the curling during the olympics so far. I'm glad I didn't see this before the GB v USA game as the US team are very likeable!
I am just in awe on how down to earth these folks are and there seems to be a genuine bond here. How are these guys not famous... I mean I love how pure their bond is. Hats off to you folks.
Would have loved to have seen Clay also team up with Jared Allen on this one. Have Clay learn how he managed to pick up the game quickly and start playing competitively.

My grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Guiney was a champion curler. My dad had all these really nicely crafted medals he'd won. They usually had an image of a stone with two brooms crisscrossing it. As a kid I thought it was two brooms with a vacuum cleaner.
I love this series. Really wish I could participate in these segments. Looks like a blast to have pros teaching you such niche skills.
3:20 this is just so incredibly astonishing and mesmerizing. The way she gracefully "flows" on the ice, not a single shake or slip, doesn’t get enough credit, I feel.
She's in a final position body-mechanical wise, if you're not a full on not sporty person that is not hard bodywise

I'm actually gonna be learning how to curl next week! I'm really excited because it looks like a lot of fun and I'm trying something new! Watching the US Men's Team inspired me to give it a try!

I love watching beginners curl because so many people think it's really easy and don't realize how hard it is. Obviously no judgment towards them for being bad, just fun to see people learn how hard it can be

As a Canadian I'm a huge fan of Team USA curling! It's always fun to see people try out curling! Just as an FYI, a hogged rock means it didn't cross the hog line (the lines to keep rocks in play). A rock that's been touched while sweeping is called a burnt rock. This whole video was so much fun to watch tbh!
I love watching curling and I would love to try it one day. When I tell that to others, they always think I'm crazy! I knew this sport was super cool and a lot harder than it looks!
I was loving to watch curling on sports tv when we first got satallite broadcasting. It's so rare sight to see on TVs.
I did not watch the olympics this year due to location, but i do enjoy the curling despite usually not knowing what is going on. this was an awesome video, fun and great explanation of the sport.

Leaving your gripper on is the equivalent to leaving your skate guards on in hockey. Hilarious every time.
but they have the exact opposite effect. gripper makes you not slide around, skate guards will make you face plant.

Haven't tried it since I was a kid. I remember that exact thing. Staying balanced is hard and not sliding everywhere. The weird feeling is that once the rock starts going, it feels like it is heavier than you are sort of. Once you've built up the momentum - your stuck with it. It's very hard.
I came so close to skipping this video but so glad I watched it. Wish I had some bro's to do thing's like this. Great video!

I wish they gave a little more info of what their calls to the sweeper means but overall it was a really good video.
I think he'd be a bit more successful on stability with the broom by keeping it more perpendicular to himself. Notice how she holds her broom out more to the side than he does at the beginning. He seemed to do well with the stablizer. Love seeing the focus on curling. It really is a fun sport.

I feel like the biggest challenge of getting decent at curling is to resist the urge to chug craft brews while playing. I can't even imagine how difficult this would be with a buzz!
As a Lawn Bowls player this was very interesting to me. I hope one day I get to try it out.

Great instruction. I was so happy for them when they won gold! Just a couple of corrections: sweeping does NOT speed up the rock and a rock that is touched by anything during its travels is "burned" not "hogged" (which actually means the rock did not fully cross the far hog line to remain in play).
Couldn't pick a better way to have your first day curling. I've never tried, but with those guys along for day one, that would be a great start.

I actually met Matt Hamilton at a bar in Minneapolis and got to wear his gold metal I have a photo of it and is still one of the coolest moments of my life.
