Ugh! I’ve been sick this season too! It’s the worst - feel better!! I used to be the worst about always buying a new dress for everyone event, but last year I bought this red dress I’m obsessed with, and I’ve worn it to multiple events ever since!
Wow! The cape is so fabulous. What a great job. Ideas for the remainder: make a soft belt or if there is enough fabric, a sleeveless type of best or cape for layering.
I love the dress and cape you made! You could have your own fashion label. As for the left over fabric, tailored vests are a very popular fashion item in Australia atm. They are being worn in the traditional way with a tailored skirt/pant and blazer, or more casually over a t-shirt or buttoned up by itself. Because it’s summer in Australia and the weather is usually quite warm, Christmas Day with my family often means everyone wears a sparkly Christmas t-shirt! It’s fun and you don’t feel like you have to spend a lot of money on what to wear. Have a wonderful Christmas!
You are a natural designer. I am amazed at how fast you have learned to sew and actually create outfits! On Christmas will be with my girls, my adult grandkids and GG Kids (and spouses). Live in Florida so we are naturally casual. So this year picked out palazzo pants with a jersey. Maybe add a bit pf bold jewelry to shine. At 84 one has to sparkle a bit. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Merry Christmas Sarah! Get well soon! I’m a serial re-wearer. As a uni student, I don’t have a big clothing budget, so I’ve been putting my pieces to work. Recently, I’ve been obsessed with my beret, so lots of preppier outfits this festive season.
Aaah, get well soon! Those dresses and the cape look fabulous on you! 😍 I especially like the first one with the green flowers and the split. Thank you for this past year with interesting videos!! 🤗 I'm curious what creations you will come up with next year. I wish you a merry Christmas and a creative, bountiful New Year! 😘
Some beautiful outfits. I have some similar fabric to your cape fabric and I made a knee length pencil skirt. I really like it and so many colours that I can wear with it. I hope that you are soon better. Happy Christmas.
We have a wedding we leave for the day after Christmas this year, Christmas day will be at home super casual. I wear things I love on repeat proudly and Thrift most of it.
Your one shoulder dress, slinky black dress, and dramatic cape are gorgeous on you. Regarding the remnant, do you have enough to make part of a vest/waistcoat, with the rest of it in a plain black fabric?
Enjoy watching your new makes, with a metre you could have a sleeveless jacket, waistcoat and still have enough for a coat for your dog. Merry Christmas
Hi Sarah! How about using the excess fabric to drape a pair of (black) knee high boots? I can see that working very well with a long black skirt/dress or with a any of the other colors in the pattern
I just love your creations. I hope you feel better soon. In our family every Christmas Eve we wear a Norwegian sweaters we got years ago when we went to Norway. I think I will forever wear that every year until the end of time. For Christmas Day we go to my in-laws. Every year is different, from valor jogging suit to a sweater and pants. Pretty casual but I never buy anything new for Christmas. I don’t have big events outside of family celebrations. If I did it might be different. I don’t know if this is even a thing but with that extra fabric a corset might work? It could be cute with a white button down shirt underneath. Or no shirt depending on the time of year. Or a corset type top to a dress. If you don’t have enough fabric the back of the corset could be the same color as the rest of the dress.
Love your Christmas traditions! And thank you for the recommendations for the excess fabric. I hadn’t thought of a corset! Wishing you a lovely Christmas 💕☺️
I agree with the suggestions for a waistcoat with your left over metre of fabric. The cape and dress you made are fabulous! I hope you’re well for Christmas. I had planned to wear a fancy dress for Christmas but common sense has beckoned as we are having a big family gathering with lots of little ones so it’ll be a Christmas sweater and jeans instead! Happy Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas, Sarah! Hope you're feeling better soon! Your dress and cape are lovely, and really suit you - looking forward to seeing your projects in the new year as well!
Oh I love that idea Alex! She’s actually my brother’s dog. I was minding her for a few hours but I think she’s a winter and a coat would look great on her ☺️💕
I love how the one-shoulder dress drapes on your body. Beautiful
Thank you so much Mary! I felt really good wearing it 💕☺️
