ShineGreymon VS Beelzemon X!! | Digimon Card Game: BT-12 Heroes Across Time (ROUND 2)

- This is Round 2 of Heroes Across Time, a tournament featuring 8 decks from the 12th main booster of the Digimon Card Game: Across Time. The next two decks to clash are ShineGreymon and Beelzemon X. The Yellow/Red ShineGreymon deck has finally unveiled its true form - an engine powered by the new Masaru/Marcus Tamer that can become a Digimon and, when attacking, fires off his DigiSoul to evolve your Greymons at no cost. The new ShineGreymon even supports him by giving him a DP boost and Security Attack+ while reducing the power of the opponent's Security Digimon - truly a Tamer beatdown! On the other hand, the Purple Beelzemon X deck has been enhanced with its own X-Antibody line which complements all of its functionality, taking some focus away from control/removal to focus on set up, aggro and a decisive finish. This time, it's Savers versus Tamers. Will light or darkness triumph in this violent showdown!?

Aw, I was hoping for Masaru to end the game himself but that final turn memory gain was too epic.
Damn. I thought for sure Marcus was going to win, but that 5-security play from Ai and Beelze came out of nowhere. At least we get to see their grudge match realized when Beelze faces off against Gallantmon!
Hmm? Gallantmon was taken out in Round 1
He won't face Takato/Gallantmon, though. Remember, Takato/Gallantmon lost their matchup. Beelze will instead face Davis & Imperialdramon.

Sad to see that Marcus got knocked out so fast in the tournament, but he put up an epic fight, it was even cooler than I'd imagined!
Can't say I'm super happy about the outcome cos I definitely wanted to see the losing deck in action more, BUT MAN I CAN'T BE MAD. THAT FINAL TURN WAS SO COOL. But I gotta say the outcome didn't deviate too much from playtesting. That new engine is super fun but still needs some additional support to really get going.

I don't think they add much to what the deck wants to do? A Memory setter like BT4 Masaru/BT1 Tai is more consistent for guaranteeing your BT12 Masarus can go off from early game, and your finisher combo with BT12 ShineGrey already reduces the opponent's Security Digimon DP. I would rather run something like BT8 Cody

@@rustmarrow You'd usually play Tai & Kairi if you were also running BT12 Adventure Greymon alongside your GeoGrey package to ensure you get lots of tamer drops. But obviously you'd rather keep that Greymon exclusive to Tai's deck for this tournament. (and Tai himself, obviously)
Ah that makes sense, but the new ShineGrey/Masaru package doesn't really need to spam Tamers to go off so I don't think I'd run them or BT12 Grey either way - just my playstyle preference. Even with BT12 Grey tho, I feel like the deck would need BT1 Tai more
It's so good to see how popular shinegreymon has become because of the card game. Digimon savers was my favourite series and I'm use to it getting lots of hate from. The community but since the card game of seems shine is now a fan favourite with wargreymon and dukemon, definitely seems more popular then Davis.

That was the craziest final turn I've ever seen, good lord. The Beelzemon deck is looking kind of cracked now that it has efficient X-Antibody lines to climb through.
Aww, can't believe Masaru and ShineGrey were eliminated so soon... Also, Believer dropping in synch with RizeGrey evolving was really cool.
That beelzebumon x is just too insane.

Shame to see Marcus and Takato out so early. However, I will admit that those were good matches.
The Marcus Shinegreymon deck is in the same spot as MirageGaogamon: in need of more tools to fully utilise its potential.
But that Beelzemon X… never a dull moment.

Dang, not gonna lie Beelzemon seems a bit busted. It's pretty easy for the deck to fill up the trash fast, and the rewards are rather disproportionate to that effort. To say nothing of all the great effect they get from the trash (something no other deck really has in the game).
The fact 1 Impmon stole the game from 5 security for just 5 memory is a testament to how busted this deck is.
Ultimately, the most broken card in the deck is actually the new Ai & Mako. Bare in mind, their game-winning play wouldn't have been possible without Ai & Mako stacking the deck for easy mill effects.

Damn it that match was so close, if only Marcus had 1 more memory he would have been able to attack with his clone. Oh well Beel had a lot going for it to begin with and the lore theme of its grudge match with machinedramon I can't be to salty. One Day Punch lads, one day.
Finally gonna be making my first purple deck and I chose it to be this in bt12. Tried over a year ago with Titamon but I failed and gave up.
Well, the only 2 decks I was rooting for are gone in just the first 2 rounds.

@Masket To put it simply, partway through the BT11 tournament, Rustmarrow fluffed it as Mako getting abducted by Analog Man after losing to them in the semifinals.

A neat match, both decks are super cool. Any thoughts on running BT11 greymon x in Marcus's deck? The inheritable doesn't get much use, and you can't put it on geogreymon, but the evo cost reduction lets you get to rizegreymon incredibly quickly since it works with red/yellow as well as it does with red/black. I also understand if you simply didn't include it for thematic reasons.
Mainly thematic reasons but also cos Marcus lets you go into Rize for free anyway so the cost reduction is less valuable in this deck. Would prefer a different inheritable or [On Evolve] effect that complements the deck more!

You cannot, Baalmon specifies exactly Beelzemon, not a card with Beelzemon in its name.

This game show why certain lvl 3's are important to block all that memory gain. That final turn would have been stopped fully if the opponent had dropped something like a Gazimon at the end of their all out.

a bit misplay when evolving the wizarmon X. when evolving you should mill top 2 of your deck. then if have wizarmon or x-antibody option, the digimon will get blocker.
Nope, that is incorrect. The text says "instead". If you have Wizardmon/X-Antibody in evo cards, it becomes a Blocker but you don't get the mill. Can confirm from the Japanese text
Its actually better that the INSTEAD exists, cuz Beelze can fuckin mill himself to death by accident otherwise.
Surprise surprise at the losing deck. It looks like fun but and I can't wait to play it, but that's all it ever will be. Fun. It's not a good deck. The only reason one topped in Japan is because people weren't expecting it.
