The Zealot's bonus damage only applies to one attack, Elemental Cleaver's 1d6 bonus damage applies to every attack (presumably even Reaction attacks which you might have a lot of).
Great video, but I just wanted to mention at 10:05 you note that the damage from elemental cleaver is not as impressive as the zealot's feature at level 3, but with the giant the 1d6 of extra damage applies to ALL attacks you make within a turn, whereas the zealot only gets the bonus damage on their first attack of the turn.
That is an important distinction. I think my ranking still stands but this does help the numbers fs.
When I saw this subclass was announced in this book I was so excited to finally be able to live out my Thor fantasy of being a big beefy Boi throwing his massive greataxe.
It is a super fun concept and honestly I expected it to be a lot worse than what it turned out to be. Throwing Weapons (and creatures) really helps the Barb
welcome back! love this series so much
Thank you so much! Glad to be back
A look at him returning as a big boi😂😂😂🎉 fits the theme. I hope everything is going well with the little guy. 😊
If you multiclass this with Battlemaster and play a polearm bugbear and then make a lunging attack you can have a melee reach of 30 feet, which kind of begs the question why you would even throw weapons in the first place lol
I agree lol. Plus you will be large so you take up more space so that also effectively extends your range
If i wanna throw a maul at someone 35ft away im gonna throw it at them!
@@DapperSnapperGaminghave an idea of making a kobold giant, but i stead of the kobold becoming big he’s just wildly flailing around a giant ass maul and being a big threat to anyone within reach
I absolutely love this
Going big is also great with paladin (conquest starts very fun, since armor of agathys loves resistance and maybe a 1 lvl dip for undead warlock😂😅)
There are just so many combos.
I also think its definitely the best barbarian class in the game
Playtest 8 barbarian can use reckless on any strength attack including ranged, so hopefully itll work when 2024 rules come out
crushing throw says, "when you make a successful ranged attack with a THROWN WEAPON using strength," Wouldn't that include melee weapons with the thrown property like the hand axe and light axe which you can use reckless attack with?
The way it is worded is melee weapon attack rolls. If a weapon is thrown then it is considered ranged, even if it is a melee weapon. This has been confirmed in previous sage advice articles
It also is further supported by the need to include Crushing Throw. If it counted already then this wording would not be necessary
@@DapperSnapperGaming I haven't ready through all of the sage advice and some of these miner differences do seem a little weird.
Yeah if Crushing Throw were not included then I can see the argument, but the problem is that this specifically says that thrown weapons are different
How would pairing this build with a battlerager work, especially with their spiked armour? Takes dwarf throwing to a new level 😂
RAW there is no interaction but if I was DMing I would come up with something because that is hilarious
survival is essential!
Your glitch isn’t a glitch. falling happens instantaneously. the barbarian cannot take an action like grabbing a friend midfall to throw them. falling, happens instantaneously. The only thing that you can do while falling is take a reaction. But like I said falling happens instantaneously so you cannot “wait” until you are 30 feet from the ground take your reaction.
Zealot used to be top subclass for barbarians. This definitely takes the crown. If you look at the features as a whole, it’s got a damage bonus and a whole lot of other mechanical features that can be built upon. This is definitely stronger than the Zealot
