Don't forget it comes out a month after the Suikoden I & II Remaster collection. On top of the Xenoblade X & Tales remasters coming out this year. So yeah, this should be a really exciting time for you Xygor.
Xygor is BACK! in 2025!
It's true, it's true
I came to comment the same, ha
@ MrDeathELI IS BACK IN 2025!!!
Love the chap
…and why it excites me!
Good to see you back, i love listening to your videos while im working. Esp the real old games i had as a kid i dont have access to anymore.
Right on, hearing this makes my day!
The voice is great to listen to
Glad you’re back!
I’ve never played the Lunar games. So I’m looking forward to experiencing them for the first time with the remastered collection. ✌🏻
Glad to be back, hope you enjoy it!
Suikoden 1 & 2 followed by Lunar 1 & 2 a month later...what a time to be alive. My Steam library reads like my childhood and I can't wait to add these. Will def be interesting to play the Non-Vic Ireland translation.
I’m so stoked Lunar is back,
Great to see you back! And I miss my collectibles from the lunar games
There's a couple of somewhat obscure-ish RPGs from the 90s that i'd love to know if you've heard of or played:
1. Vay-Sega CD
2. Beyond the Beyond-PS1
3. Thousand Arms-PS1
4. Azure Dreams-PS1
5. Shining The Holy Ark-Sega Saturn
It's great to see you back!
Slow your roll! Azure dreams?? Sure, it got a ps1 port, but that’s a game boy color game and YES! Deserves much more recognition. The monster -fusing was so cool.
Just looked it up and I am wrong. I guess ps1 was first. My bad. All of my friends has the gbc version and loved it. It wasn’t until years later that I first saw the ps1 version at a rental store.
@mickwritesmaui Yeah I didn't know about the GBC version until years later. Would love to get my hands on a copy. What's really cool is that if you play Metal Gear Solid and have a Azure Dreams save on the memory card, one of the bosses named Psycho Mantis will call out your Azure Dreams save file before the battle begins. One of the most hair-raising moments on my childhood.
I do really like Eternal Blue and its story but nothing beats the classic of silver star story!
True!
I basically see Silver Star and Eternal Blue as a part 1 and part 2 of the same game.
@@planescaped hmmm...true
i actually missed out on these growing up. super excited to play them as soon as they come out!
I am so excited to play theses games for the first time ever. I need to find a physical copy to grab
Too bad the packaging won't be as legendary as the old ones!
@ yeah the ones on the PlayStation
Its greaattt
Yes, Lunar releases!!!!!! My favorite RPGs!!!!!
Right on!
It's great news, Xygor. Still I'll wait to see the final product, but it looks promising enough ✌🏼
Lunar 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I owned it along with l1 on Sega cd. Never played ps1 version. Can't believe I sold it. Still kicking myself for that. Can't wait to pick this up again!!
Can't wait for this. I too have the Ghaleon hand puppet. Actually, two of them, a friend gave me his. Good to see you back.
Right on!
I’m excited because this opens the door to Lunar 3
Supposedly it was in the works way back in the day by GameArts, then shelved.
It's a real shame they didn't try to work with Working Designs to keep the original voice work. I'm not excited to see the all new VO's, here's hoping it's good work.
I can't wait to play this collection I've never played lunar before I've played another working design game that was arc the lad collection
Eternal Blue was the first game I ever preordered. I found SSSC at my local video store in 2000 and fell in love with it. It was my first ever EBay buy, buying a complete copy. Then in PSM I saw the EBC preview and ran to Sam Goody to preorder. Still have both to this day. And I’ll have the switch version when it comes out.
I want to bring this up. This happened now 33 years ago, I was a young boy who hung out at my local Funcoland.
The owner had a wall of Sega CD gamea and it blew me away at how big they were. He promised me if I could save up $300 I could get a lot of games and the Sega CD bundle. For the next 4 months I did everything from chores to mowing lawns to get this done.
The first game I played was Lunar 1 it blew me away hearing Rhonda portray Luna's voice and see the game talk to me. I knew right then and there it was a life changing moment like seeing mario in 3D.
Later I saw myself as Alex but deep down I loved Ghaleon my favorite villain or rather crestfallen hero.
When Ghaleon died I actually cried, I felt so bad for him yet was in a bizarre way happy Luna and Alex came together in the end.
When I played a year later and played Lunar 2 I wss so stoked and cheered seeing Ghaleon come back. The sequel was like the Terminator 2 to me, and if I can say anything, when Ghaleon died but as the Dragon Knight or the Hero I cried yet again.
I loved the series and I own every single pin that Working Designs ever came out, also I own 2 of the Lunar Silver Star PS1 Crew Shirts found in the premium CD too.
To say I am a Working Designs fan is an understatement, I had preorders of every game they ever released and I still own the last game and the receipt and bag that it came in.
I even own all 7 copies of Lunar 1 for tje Sega CD as well as eqch copy for Lunar 2 and every single game/ console the company published for. If I can say what is the most played game it would sadly have to be Dragon Force and if possible please make a review for that game Xyger!?
I can't underestimate how critical this series was to me, I remember every single moment of what I was doing and thinking while playing this game by writing them down in diaries.
This is probably the seminole work to JRPGs to me and I will never stop loving the voice of Lunar songs ever. Even now Lunar 2s boss theme is so epic. When I played Lunar 2 and Ghaleon gave me his sword I refused to give it up and use the Star Dragon Tower knight's sword which was better due to Ghaleon's legacy.
I told myself Ghaleon died as the last Dragon Knight, I must end the quest with his own sword and defeat Zophar. By the end I had just Leo and Hero left. This was my first try.
I thought I was under leveled but i gave it my all, eventually Hero just went all out and in a way it felt like Ghaleon's sword shattered into a million pieces and blinded Zophar. But Hero still fell but that gave Leo a chance, Zophar missed and I was screaming as a little kid OMG!!!!!! Zophar missed Leo and he flew into the air as the villain was now blinded. A turn went by and Leo came crashing down and did the final blow killing Zophar and ending his reign of chaos.
In that moment I felt like Dyne, Alex, And Ghaleon sacrificed everything and made Leo's final attack count similar to the Cheese Fight with the Hell Chariot Boss battle in Dark Souls 2.
Its impossible for me to pick a favorite...I think both games are top notch RPGs. I replay them every few years or so, and I cant wait for the PS4 release to do it again. Best case scenerio, it does well enough where we might get a new next gen release....sorta like what they did with the Mana series.
Another great video! I can't wait for this collection!
Right on, can't wait for it.
Lunar Silver Star Story Complete and Eternal Blue Complete are tied for either my 3rd or 4th favorite game, competing with Suikoden 2. I no longer have the actual Box for Lunar Silver Star, but I do have the soundtrack, book and cloth map still.
I do have the box, pendant, standup figures, ect. for Eternal Blue though, and both official strategy guides which were themselves extremely entertaining and fun.
(1 and 2 are Planescape and Deus Ex if you need to know, both of which I loved before they were cool too! lol Feel I have to specify that now with how ubiquitous praise for them has become online these days.)
I'm super excited for this. I grew up with these games and love them dearly. Eternal Blue a bit more though.
Eternal Blue is easily my favorite game, ever. Lucia's story really got to me. It was my first time seeing a story like hers. Someone that has lived apart from people doesn't know how to be a person, or understand humor, or what modesty is. It made me think about how we really do need to connect to others to understand those things.
But Jean also has an amazing story!! She got to kick the ass of her childhood abuser, and that moment resonated with me so much!! She grows just as much as Lucia, Ronfar, Leo, and Lemina. But the subject of her story - being held back by childhood trauma and rising above it to embrace herself - is *incredible*.
Silver Star Story is a damn fine game. It's a love story! But Eternal Blue's characters feel like they grow so much more than Silver Star's did. That's why I say Lunar 2 is the best. Something all RPGs should strive to be like.
Thanks for your thoughts and memories of it!
So far this is my most anticipated game of the year. I loved both of these games SO much.
Glad to hear you can't wait!
I still remember that the first helm you get in Silver Star story is described as a "metal mullet masher". I am hype for this release.
Played through both games on the Sega CD back in the 90s, but my system died about ten years back. I'm looking forward to playing these again!
Excellent!
Good to see you back Xygor.
About a year ago there was this incredible port of Lunar Silver Star Story on IOS/Android that I stumbled into it.
Hoping they do Eternal Blue as planned.
My concern with this upcoming 2025 release is they'll lose the Working Designs touches which I enjoy that I know had been controversial.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and glad to be back!
I'll get it for my switch great oldie for sure.
Wise decision!
I've always wanted to play the Lunar games but have never had the opportunity so I'm definitely picking this up this Spring!
I want to get it so badly. Financially I'm at a "can't afford new games" kind of situation, but this is part of my childhood. Lunar 2 was one of the first games I bought on my own with zero parental assistance. I still have both it and SSSC, but Lunar 2's discs have seen better days so a newer port would be very nice to share with my kids and relive the nostalgia.
It'll be on digital storefronts. Afford it when you can, it'll still be there
Yes! I never played them because I was waiting for a Japanese voice patch for both but this looks like it'll have dual audio so it's even better! Extremely excited!
day 1 purchase. Lunar 2 is one of the best RPGs of the 90s, if not THE best.
Lunar Silver Star on Sega CD for me. I bought it here in Germany, complete as an import used and with the official guide. 30 years later only the loose CD is still with me... Played through it many times back then, import RPGs helped a lot while learning English.
Bought both for both Sega CD and PS1. Still have both consoles so I can play them. Lunar had an amazing story with very memorable characters. The first time I saw that anime intro it blew me away. I hope they sell a million copies.
Oh yeah! I saw the pages for the Lunar 1 and 2 remasters!!!!!
Man, first Suikoden, then Xenoblade X, now Lunar 1 and 2!?
A GAMING BOOMER'S DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!
This makes me feel incredibly old. I played this game when I was like 14.
Me too!
I'm absolutely ecstatic to pick up this remaster. My brother has the OG PS1 version of it so it'd be great to own a copy myself at long last. It's hard to pick a fave between the two games tho. I'm biased in my love of the first game for it being the first (and great in its own right). The second game was a great addition to the series tho and I agree the epilogue had me so hype! Both are winners and I can't wait to revisit them both for the first time in well over a decade.
SUPER excited for these to come out! Thesr are my favorite two games of all time. Totally did not expect for us to ever see these games released again. I'm curious about how they'll treat the audio. I was a little uneasy with the rendition of Wings for the trailer. Someone said it's still Jenny Stigle, but her voice feels stiffer than it was in the 90s (understandably).
Lunar 2 is my favorite because I like the story and characters slightly more, but I think Alex and Luna's love story is superior to Hiro and Lucia's.
I'm not sure how many new players will be introduced to this wonderful series, but I hope many are. These are two all-time classic JRPGs.
I have the PSP version of Lunar 1.. I finished it i think summer of 2017.. I remember really liking it.. I especially was a fan of Kyle!
I have never played them, but I’m so exited to try them out this year! 😍💜
Buying a physical copy of this! Playing after I wrap up Grandia Collection!
Very excited for this!
I played silver star story, but never had a chance to try Eternal blue. Looking forward to it !!!!
Can I get an Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean HD Remake??
That would be sweet!
Eternal blue was so good! What made it so special was really the epilogue...I will never forget the part where Lucia started hearing the knocking sound...then she found out it was Hiro appearing upside down then followed by the ending music. I would say this is as good as Xenogears ending.
Blew my mind when I beat the game and found that there was a playable epilogue with another 20h or so of gameplay.
Only game I can think of that did something similar was Dragon Quest 11, though it's epilogue was even longer.
I want these!!
My first LUNAR was the PSP version
They will be good!
Never would've expected this. Especially after so long with little-to-nothing new from the series. I'm trying to replay the entirety of the series before then if I can (each version and each language except the Korean PC version).
I remember getting the silver star story complete for 4 Yu-Gi-Oh cards then got eternal blue from the same card shop for 6 Yu-Gi-Oh cards a few months later.... They are imo top 10 jrpgs..... Even the gba remake was good.... Im not sure what happened to the games themselves but i still have everything that came in the boxes 🤙 i hope it releases for the switch i would almost buy a PS5 just to play it
Yeah, this is on my list of pickups in the future
Welcome back. Now, I really hope this remaster will be a great set of games. The PSP remake was decent, but didn't quite have the SSSC charm down entire.
I loved playing it and Eternal Blue Complete, but errhhh... had to play anyway possible due to them not being released in NL. Both have a mix of lighthearted humour and severely dark undertones. Think 2 nails it a little better on that end, but both are really great RPG's.
Very excited played 1/2 on the ps1 about as often as FF7. Truly fantastic games.
I'm super stoked for this and the Suikoden remaster!
Me too!
I loved the "Silver Star Story Complete," and I really enjoyed the Final Fantasy pixel remasters. I hope they have the same quality of life improvements, like experience adjustments and turning on and off encounters. They should also add a "hard mode" and an "easy mode," or maybe a way to tweak the encounter rate.
Right on!
Still havent beat any version of silver star. Eternal blue was my first on sega cd and will never forget the journey it was cause that story is chef kiss and the difficulty spikes were no joke. Glad they are bring back some classics as im not a fan of these "attempts" like sea of stars, chained echoes, and eiyuden chronicles lol
I'd love to make a Lunas shadowbox, but nobody seems to see a decent scene composition for it.
This is an incredible year for jrpgs !
Should be!
This will be the first time playing these two in my case; we didn't get the vast majority of games WD worked on in Europe at all back in the day, including Lunar, so I'm curious how this game turned out. In general, that era was as dry as a desert for JRPGs here. Except for the absolute biggest hits (say, FF7 or Pokemon) we got very few JRPGs of note in the 90s; I think part of it was that PC gaming was much more popular here than in the US, and JRPGs very rarely (well, almost never) had PC ports back then. Thankfully the times have changed for the better in this regard.
I definitely prefer Lunar 2: EB. For starters when it came out in 1995, I appreciated the improvements in gameplay from Lunar 1 in 1993. That alone was enough to make me like it more. By the time the PS1 remakes came out I'd had time to get more attached to the Lunar 2 cast than the Lunar 1 cast. I especially like the redemption of you know who in 2.
Never played this series but I'm looking forward to this collection.
I hope more retro RPGs get remastered for current systems, I'm still waiting for Shadow Hearts trilogy & Skies of Arcadia to this day 🙏🏼
Also recently SEGA filled trademarkes for "Skies of Arcadia" and "Eternal Arcadia". I hope for a remaster.... like a lot ahah.
"Xygor"
as in, the famous rumored character from Dragon Ball AF rumors back in the day? That had Super Saiyan 5 and everything?
Dayum, blast from the past
Not sure what this is, I've been using the name since around 2005
@Xygor oh nvm, mistook the name for something else
I loved the first Lunar game but only got a chance to play a little of the second game. This is a great chance for me to play through that one. However, I am concerned about how the characters look in Lunar 2 during battles. Maybe I don't remember well, since I only played that game a little, but they look off to me. Does anyone else have a thought?
The trailer barely shows Lunar 2, so I don't know what to expect. Doesn't matter though, I will play them and look forward to the remaster.
I quick ran to check the Amazon store page thinking preorders opened and maybe I missed it, thank goodness not yet 😅
I've always wanted to play the Lunar series, but something always came up. I would love to finally play this on Switch.
since i never played lunar before, that will be the perfect chance to start
Do we know when preorder opens on Amazon
An RPG fan and a Packers fan? If they ever make an adventure called Quest for the Sacred Cheese Crown we'll let you know.
Oh yeah, lifelong fan!
I wish they could get the Final Fantasy Remake treatment. These games gave me chills
Im buying it for both my laptop and switch.
Im hoping it does well enough in sales that we get a lunar 3 where maybe it's on the blue star and you get to play as a descendant of Lucia and Hiro
Eternal Blue of course
I love lunar. This sounds amazing
Glad you think so!
Question is, will the box pong game from the bonus disc be included? I played that as much as the the actual game...
You sound different. New mic?
Same one as before.
Sounds nice. I'd like to play it on the Switch.
Now that there is a switch version, I can probably get my kids to play it.
Excellent idea!
After xmas me and the kids got a switch. I will buy the physical copy of it and finally finish eternal blue.
Switch release of Lunar??? Take my freaking money!!! I haven’t played it since my neighbor growing up had a Sega CD. Pumped!
Been playing it on wish handhelds and my steam deck for years. But glad yo can finally play it on the switch.
Octopath Traveler sold over 3 mln copies if I recall correctly.
Right on, even better than I thought!
I have it on my steam wish list, if its steam deck verified I'll get it, but I got burned with their lack of proton / wine support on the Grandia series.
Really happy about this and Suikoden 1&2. I hope a lot of players will buy it.
Me too!
I just wish Working Designs could still be a thing to add to support.
Im still sitting back waiting on a Xenogears remaster along with All the Xenosaga games.
That would be amazing!
Of the two, Eternal Blue is my favorite. The only bummer thing about the release is the new voice cast. Snarky Ghaleon is the best thing about that game for me and I have a feeling the new voice person won't be the same. At least I have the original games so I can play those when I need my Snarky Ghaleon fix.
Lunar eternal blue,. Try to pre-order it, but not available
Right on!
i hope the old translation is available as a choice
Doesn't sound like it will be.
Ahh yes back when there was a physical incentive to preordering. WD and their bundles got me to save my allowance to get Arc the Lad collection even though I didn't like the game much at the time.
Lunar 2 all the way
Agreed!
1:30 and yes, they will be re-recording the songs
I wanted the Lunar remake to have the same graphics that the PS version...But i take what i got.
I want to see the psp (remake of Lunar Silver Star Story) game released on pc and switch
Skies of Arcadia is next
NICE!
can't wait for eternal blue remake to see...
you shouldn't be surprised, sega didn't include lunar on the genesis mini releases because game arts wanted more money than they were willing to pay. That's an obvious indicator that game arts think they can make more money on the games selling them as stand alone products and are planning to do so in the near future.
It will be heavily censored. They will not even be using the Working Designs translation and soundtrack...
No Sega CD version if anyone is thinking about that version.
In the options you can switch to Remaster, PlayStation, Saturn versions.
Original Japanese Dub and included Sub are optional.
English Dub is completely Redubbing not going to be original, unfortunately. Hope it holds up since the first two intro songs from Silver Story sound great.
Question about the two huh, Lunar Dragon Song never played the originals then Lunar Dragon Song. Yes I suffered greatly. Not sure if JRPGs are going get good so waiting if it gets better.
I only had the 2nd game and the DS game. Used GameShark to beat the 2nd 😂 excited to play these on new consoles
