The sprite animation in Breath of Fire IV just looks amazing. I need to finish that one. I always loved the music in the older SNES Breath of Fire games too.
You and me both. I remember playing this back in the day and I really enjoyed it. I played up to a point where I was in some town that we had to travel along the rooftops because the street below was poisonous gas or something. It was like 10 or so hours in. I got distracted with something else and just never went back.
Feel like you're one of the few channels that actually finds noteworthy games I haven't heard of instead of just the same handfuls of well known titles for different systems. Keep it up!
11:43 I remember this, My aunt plays this when I was little, I just watched her and used to mimic the words each character shouts whenever they attack or use their skills
With all the recent collections for the their fighting games and whatnot that Capcom has been re-releasing on current hardware, I'd love to see them do a Breath of Fire collection.
There was 1 cutscene where the old king got shot by giant curse canon and the screen got black. If you are unlucky it will crash there and took a long time to get there again after loading the save data😢
Was not expecting to hear anyone remember Eternal Eyes today. Actually had a copy cause my girlfriend at the time said it was the worst rpg she had ever played. So of course I got it and liked it. Simple but fun.
@@thatvideogamesshowCan we get a video on forgotten RPGs/RPGs stuck on the PS2, RPGs stuck on Xbox 360 and/or forgotten RPGs of the original Xbox? Thank you!
I never played Destiny because I heard it was one of the worse tales games. I didn't realize the graphics were so gorgeous, I'm definitely going to give it a try now
Great picks, I have most of them still in my collection. Some suggestion for further videos would be Blaze and Blade, Monster Seed and Master of Monsters :)
@thatvideogamesshow I appreciate these forgotten RPGs videos I had no idea about titles like racing lagoon and Eternal Eyes. I hope you do more Dreamcast hidden gems especially MDK2, Max Steel, and Silver (I see that game on your shelf bro awesome)
I haven't forgotten any of these... Eternal Eyes I breifly tried out of curiosity, but I liked it (need to play more), Dragon Valor was pretty surprising despite it's "early ps1" look...Tales of Destinty was my jam back in the day. I played that game fully, even beating the Tower of Druaga side dungeon...it was my first and favorite Tales game. Didn't play Harvest Moon, but it's Harvest Moon..so I no doubt it's fun. The rest are on my to-do list..except BoF4. It's not my favorite (BoF3 is my absolute favorite) but I do enjoy it's combo system. Racing Lagoon is...a fever dream XD
Awesome another good list of games with TVGS you know I love my all my consoles and games especially RPGs from 1980-Now we still need Xbox and Xbox One RPG videos they’ll be good
Now this one hits, I have quite a lot featured in this round. Like I have three copies of Tales of Destiny, two loose. Still got my copy of Harvest Moon as well, curious you say the N64 game was considered the better one though, I was under the assumption it was the opposite. And I had Vanguard Bandits back in the day, I stupidly traded it into Gamestop or one of the others before it bought all the other chains. Blood Omen's another one I still got since new, that one's super underrated. Breath of Fire 4 is easily one of my favorite rpgs of all time, and of course I still have my original copy. I tried Racing Lagoon a few months ago now that there's an English patch, I figured I would love it as it's right up my alley. I could not get into it whatsoever and that kind of pissed me off because I really wanted to like it. I'll give it another chance eventually.
Vanguard Bandits is awesome but can be pretty frustrating too. For example if you turn off the battle animations to speed things up you can't win the game. The game is divided into 3 chapters. If you don't have all the conditions met, you can't win the final battle in chapter 2. The problem is you don't know that and it'll take you over an hour to lose it. Yeah, after my 5th attempt I was seeing red and had to look up if it was even winnable at all? To which I found because of how I had played the game to that point it was not. It would have been better if the battle didn't happen at all it just said "Conditions for Victory not met. Try again from beginning." Just so that you don't waste your time. However that being said, I still LOVED everything about it up to that point, and do plan on giving it another go. So my advice: USE A GUIDE! Not for every battle, that'll take away the fun, but just jot down what conditions need to be met before you even start. It'll save you a massive headache.
Never heard of a racing role play game, its like the role play version of Gran Turismo, awesome 🍻 Also didn’t expect to see Harvest Moon here🤩 This list is amazing 🤩
Dragon Valor is pretty fun! I haven't gotten very far in it though. Tales of Destiny is definitely a classic! I remember being disappointed in it when I first played because I was younger and played the series backwards, with Symphonia then Eternia and then Destiny. I mainly played through the remake but I've gotten pretty far in the original. It's charming in its own way. Crusaders of Might & Magic I have as well, though I bought it recently because Drake is voiced by the late and great Kevin Conroy. Blood Omen is also fun, though I've barely scratched the surface of it. I dunno if it's my TV or what, but I have a hard time seeing everything whenever I play, both the game disc I have and the Classics version on PS3.
Can remember just like it was yesterday when Vandal Hearts 2 came out. It's a good game, but I was so miffed that it changed so much from the first game. 😔
BoF IV is great, the graphics are beautiful even now days, the music/audio work is great for a PS1 game, the story is good and have the perfect difficult to play and not force you into a bored circle of grind to lvl up or get money for equipment to survive a boss battle.
I was really enjoying Dragon Valor until I experienced it's shop system. I don't know if it's just that awkward or there's a reason it's so slow an tedious. I didn't get too far however. I guess I was grumpy and looking for a reason to switch the game off and that was it.
I've played Eternal Eyes altho I never finished it. Finished Tales of Destiny, now the Director's Cut version is translated for PS2 version. Harvest Moon is also classic but you will be spoiled for newer harvest moon games if you havent played the original back to nature or even the snes version. Finished Breath of Fire IV, there is a mod for it too which plenty of QoL made. Now I need to test the rest of the game since they're already on my HDD somewhere😅
Wait a minute! Harvest Moon 64 outshined Back to Nature? That is not how I remember it. I remember back in the day reading that the original creator, who spent much more time working on the 64 version, was not happy that the PS1 version was the more successful of the two. I have always had the impression Back to Nature outshined the 64 version, not the other way around. Would love to hear how other people remember it. I personally prefer Back to Nature over the 64 version everyday of the week. The 64 version is fine and all, but the PS1 release is just the better game.
My first tales game is eternia, gave destiny a try a while back. Couldn't get into it, combat are just too slow compared to eternia. Good thing someone already translated the director cut on the ps2, i play that one instead

I think about breath of fire 4 surprisingly often.

Thanks Droid, I appreciate that!
Bof IV one of the very best rpgs of all time.
It’s great how you keep up with RPGs so much. Do what you do! ❤ Aurora
Thanks for the super chat Aurora, really appreciate them! RPGs have to be my favourite genre when it comes to games 😅
Damn, you showed the bangers out!!! Triggered so much nostalgia in me
Glad you enjoyed it!

Vandal Hearts games are brilliant and so is Saiyuki Journey West.
Saiyuki is so good!
Thanks for the recomedantions !
No worries!
Tales of Destiny was also multiplayer in combat! My cousins and I would play :D
Brigandine legend of forsena should join this list ❤
Great suggestion!
ps1 harvest moon was my jam.
Ahh breath of fire IV, loved this game ❤
One of the best RPGs!
Breath of fire 4 had so much soul
Shame Capcom can't do it anymore
I'll second that!
There was 1 cutscene where the old king got shot by giant curse canon and the screen got black. If you are unlucky it will crash there and took a long time to get there again after loading the save data😢
Breath of Fire is one of those franchises I desperately wish to return one day, but I also remain unconvinced Capcom could do it justice.
I'll second that!
Blood omen legacy of Kain is one of mine favourite, the whole franchise is Brilliant🤘🏻
100%!

Destiny reminds me so much of the anime Magic Knight Rayearth with the sentient swords, and i think thats the main reason why i liked it.

I think Back to Nature is one of the few that is far from being forgotten. I've seen one or two streams minimum of this game in twitch in a month

Dragon Valor is a great game! Graphically it didn't age well but the gameplay is still top notch.

I can't believe that is the game hidden behind the cover of Eternal Eyes.
Haha yeah the cover did it no favours.
28 seconds in and I’m pretty sure that puppet monster is Abby Kadabby from Sesame Street.
I'm hard pressed to believe that any breath of fire is a forgotten JRPG Especially 2 3 & 4!
Blood Omen was a great game. I even like it more then its sequal Soul Reaver.
