The roof of the hourly parking garage near the main terminal is also a good place to plane spot. It's also really close to runway 1C/19C (when it's open, that is).

@JT041196 I love JetBlue and Virgin America, but I don't think that driving an extra hour to an airport (and back) is worth it for only an hour or so flight. If you were flying to, say, San Francisco, then I might recommend it. Air Tran is just as cheap as JetBlue and Virgin America, so I doubt you would save any money.
