I just watched all your videos on doing maintenance and appreciate your simple way of explaining it for us. Really appreciate the reset on the maintenance required message. You weren’t kidding it takes five seconds or less. It took me couple of tries but it worked great.
Going to give it a try!!! Wondering why it came on in the first place. I did recently change the oil but that was a few months ago and because I had just bought it and wanted to make sure it was good to go.
Thanks . It worked on my commander. With all the technology in these machines I can’t understand why a simple reset option isn’t available on the screen .
thanks for all your vids bro my new to me 2014 maverick 1000r is happy now front and rear diff oil and grease all around eng oil and filter all from your vids total cost to me was less the $60 thanks again
hell yeah, congrats on the maverick, there awesome machines. Glad you found the videos helpful, saving ya'll time and money is definitely the two primary goals of these videos, thanks for watching them and taking the time to leave a comment sharing your experience. Cheers
awesome, I'm glad it worked for you and that's good to know that it even works on the x3's. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share this info with all of us in the comments. Cheers
awesome glad it worked for you. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience with this procedure on your model in the comments. Cheers
Hey question ever had problems with water pump. I got 2014 can am commander max 1000 dps. Thing water pump is bad but don’t know which one to go with would be a big help thank u
unfortunately I believe you need the dealer's software to change that message, not sure what'd they charge, but let us know if you do take in. Sorry for the bad news, but if anyone knows of a way to change it ourselves and see's this please comment and let us know. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave an interesting question in the comments. Cheers
No problem, cool to hear it works on the X3's. With fresh oil change, be sure to take her out for a rip for me this weekend, never had the opportunity to drive one of those beasts. Thanks for watching the video and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers.
mine wont reset and im questioning to see if the brake lights not working may be an issue or if the brake switch is bad it wont reset, Ill figure out the brake light problem first and then re try (im assuming thats why the previous owner hadnt clear it and fluids looked good when changed)
glad it worked, went on my first discovery flight last week and to say it was life changing would be an understatement. Thanks for watching and fly safe. Cheers
Thank you this helped on my XRS my brother had a renegade and when he would start it up it would say hello then his name is there any way that the XRS Mavericks do this as well?
Yes there is, but unfortunately I think you'll need to take it to a dealer with the proprietary software to upload your name into the machines computer. If someone see's this and knows of a way to do it ourselves, let us know. But I'm 99% sure that you'll have to take the bike to an an authorized Can-Am dealer for that one. Glad video was helpful, and thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
not a problem, and im not sure where the battery is located on that machine as I sold it but if I remember correctly its up under the dash on the driver side. As far as the name on the menu I believe you'll need the dealer with their fancy software to make changes to that. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave some good questions in the comments. Cheers

well after a little digging I wasn't able to find anything on brp's website in the operator's guide for your maverick sport... however I did find this on page 55 of the operators guide for 2019 maverick series... "(1) To erase the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED message, proceed as follows: 1. Select PARK. 2. Turn ignition switch to ON. Do NOT start engine. 3. Set the cluster to odometer display. 4. Press SET button on the multifunction gauge and keep it pressed until step 6. 5. Switch the high beam On-Off three times rapidly. 6. Turn ignition switch to OFF. NOTE: Steps 4 and 5 must be completed within 5 seconds. NOTE: Do not turn ignition switch to ON before the so maybe that will work for your maverick sport?? hope this helps and if it does work for you and you don't mind letting us know here in the comments so other future maverick sport owners will know it will work for them that would be awesome. Thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. cheers.
@@EscapePowerSports I had to take it to the dealership and they reset it. Apparently thats the only way to do it on the maverick sport. Thanks for researching and responding. I appreciate it.
Worked on mine! The damn maintenance message has been on in my machine since I bought it about a year ago! Would love to see a video on changing spark plugs on a Commander. I haven't done mine yet. Gonna try it today. Looks like it could be a bit of a bitch
roger that. And that's a good video idea. I will add it to my list for next time I get a commander in the shop as I sold the last couple I had over a year ago. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good video suggestion in the comments. Cheers
I no longer have a commander or a maverick at the moment to go look, but if I remember correctly there is a reservoir up front somewhere maybe under hood or under a front fender? Hopefully someone who still has one will see this and be able to clarify more specifically for you. Hope this helps and thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
not sure if there's a way to reset that. But if it keeps coming on, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have the stored codes read by the dealer and see what the issue is before it potentially makes something worse? you could try disconnecting battery to see if code is still causing an issue?
2012 Commander 1000 XT. Have tried it several times and the code will not clear. I even wait until the dash turns completely off before turning key back on.
hmmm. Not sure why it's not working for you, But I appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your year and model that it doesn't work for in the comments. Cheers
hmmm, any difference if you use the performance vs. work key? haven't experienced that issue so I'm not sure. Thank you,I have a problem with my '13 Maverick, when I lift the front end untill the tires leave the ground the tires go completely toed out,so any kind of jump is out of the question because when it lands toed out severely I would no doubt break something.I have adjusted the tie rods so that the tires are straight when the weight is on it sitting on flat ground, and it drives ok,but the steering is a little sketchy and I have to keep the front wheels in contact with the ground at all times,is there something worn out? it all seems tight. It has 8200 kms on it,and I have 28" Terminators on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hmmm I'm really not qualified to give you an exact answer, but when you adjust the tie rods do you do it with the front of the machine jacked up? I usually do the alignment with the front end of the machine jacked up. But it sounds like it might be a more serious issue so I'd probably look closely for any bent suspension components (shocks, shock mounts, a-arms, a-arm mounting brackets, tie rods, etc) If all looks as it should its possible that the steering rack and pinion itself might be loose or have worn bearings or other parts and need to be replaced? Just thinking out loud here, the shorter answer would be I'm really not sure, but hope this was a little helpful? Have read about issues with some power steering models so I'd definitely also check out the forums as they can be a major resource for information on common issues or repairs. Sorry I don't have a more exact idea of what your issue might be, but thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Stay Safe. Cheers
I believe you have to bring it to the dealer to use their software to change that information. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
hmmm..... not sure how to proceed on that model. Appreciate you taking the time to share how it might be different for that machine in the comments. Cheers
Hey Danny I recently flipped my 2020 defender on its side and it ran until it stopped we flipped it back over and got it to the house and now it won’t start any advice?
I'd say pull the plugs and check the air filter as its likely gotten oil on top of pistons with plugs out try turning it over to get all of that oil off the top of the pistons? just speculating here. Glad it seems like your alright as the machine is fixable/replaceable. Good luck getting it going again and keep us posted how it turns out. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
after a quick google I believe with key on, hold the m button and simultaneously flick lights on and off at least 3 times, hope this helps let us know if it works. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
hmmm. I would look at getting a service manual for your specific machine and start going through the diagnostic procedures outlined for it on limp mode without the bike and symptoms in front of me its really hard to say what's causing the issue. Good luck and hope this helps. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
2017 maverick xc dps it didn't work I do have the high/low mod done that gives you full rpm in low range. My understanding is that override is full rpm in reverse only
hmmm, I haven't tried that mod so I'm not sure how it would affect the reset procedure, but its quite possible that's the hold up. Maybe someone else with this mod can see if reset works for them. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience with this job on your machine in the comments. Cheers
hmmm great question, I would consult the operators guide and see if their is a procedure for the newer trail models? let me know what year it is and I can try and look it up. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
hmmm I'm not sure if we can do that ourselves or if more likely we would need the fancy dealer software to play with that kind of display setting? good luck and thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
Not working for me I tried multiple times I do notice the light from override is on your machine and mines is not but I check to see if switch is connected and it is
hmm maybe see if those wires are getting power? or if when you click the over ride button in reverse if the little notification comes on the dash? sorry I'm really not sure on this one, but thank you for watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Let us know if you find anything out about why it wasn't working. Cheers
hmmm I'm not sure, maybe come back to it and try it another day and see if you have better luck, I know I tried three or four times with the manual in my hand before I finally figured it out for the video. Cheers
After a little research, I was surprised to find out, YES it looks like it should work very similarly on your 14 Outlander limited. Thanks you for watching and commenting, as its great for me and anyone who see's this to learn what all this works for and what machines it doesn't. Let us know for sure that it worked on yours, but according to BRP, it should work. See excerpt from page 86 of operators guide below. www.operatorsguides.brp.com/Index.aspx?lang=E&s1=80b94218-ba8b-479f-9c4e-61ab3fdd226b "Message can be erased by pressing alternately the override switch and the brake pedal 3 times, or can be erased by dealer"
hmmm, I checked the operators guide for that year and model and it appears like it should be the same procedure. www.operatorsguides.brp.com/Index.aspx?lang=E&s1=d378c78d-e63a-4d39-bf6c-16a83244de52 page 52 It took me at least four or five tries the first time I did it. Sometimes tricky to get all the steps in the 5 seconds. Also make sure on the second pump of brake pedal the over ride is not pressed. also theres a note at the bottom to let screen go completely dark after completing procedure before turning it back on. NOTE: Do not turn ignition switch to ON before the multifunction gauge turns off hopefully this helps and maybe fourth try is a charm? thanks for the comment and let us know if it ends up erasing it or not. But it appears to not work on a handful of machines
hmmmm.. now that is strange. sorry for the late response, did you ever figure out a solution or why it caused issues for the key? that's weird. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports dirty key or bad ignition I gotta wiggle the key once and a while just a freak coincidence I guess that it happened the first time when doing the rest lol
Hmmm so I just checked on BRP's website and on page 81 of the operators guide for the 2012 commander I found this "NOTE: The message can be erased by pressing alternately the override switch and the brake pedal 3 times, or can be erased by dealer." So if you don't mind trying that I assume by just press over ride press brake press over ride press brakepress over ride press brake and see if that works for those year models and if you let us know that it does work I'll pin this comment so anyone else with this year will see this. Hope this works for you and thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience with all of us in the comments. Cheers
I'm not sure exactly where that sensor is, but I did have a buddy who was getting an error code for the pps sensor and was able to resolve the issue by charging the battery, not sure how he got so lucky, but maybe give it a shot? sorry I wasn't much help with this and thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a question in the comments. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports No I appreciate it. Been having nothing but problems with it. Got a brand new battery last spring, parked it over the winter, took battery out while it sat, put tender on it and getting this pps and limp home..
hmm, I believe it depends on the year model for the outlander, which year is your bike? Thanks for watching and looking forward to your reply to get you the exact reset procedure for your bike. For some years there isn't one available. Cheers
Here's what I found in the operators guide for that machine on page 168 (2) To erase the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED message, proceed as follows: 1. From main display (vehicle speed), press SET and HOLD. 2. Alternate between LOW beam and HIGH beam 3 times. NOTE: Step 2 must be completed within 2 seconds. 3. Release SET button. Let us know if it works for you. Thanks for watching and commenting, Cheers.
hmmm that's strange, whenever you turn the bike on does it say "performance Key" or "work key" I know the work key somehow uses the computer to substantially reduce the power available so maybe it could just be the wrong key? Hope this helps, but if not and you figure it out let me know, I'm curious. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
Ahh damn, these things can be so frustrating when they dont want to work. Which year and model are you working on? There are a couple of other procedures for different bikes. Thank you for watching and sharing what's going on with your machine.
haha sorry freind, It was 3 am mountain time and tried to give a quick indicator that I saw your message and would be on it first thing in the morning. Pulled up the operators guide and unfortunately it look like that turbo should have the same reset procedure as described in the video. (1) To erase the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED message, proceed as follows: 1. Select PARK. 2. Turn ignition switch to ON. Do NOT start engine. NOTE: The steps 3 through 9 must be completed within 5 seconds. 3. Press override switch and HOLD. 4. Press and release brake pedal. 5. Release override switch. 6. Press and release brake pedal. 7. Press override switch and HOLD. 8. Press and release brake pedal. 9. Release override switch. 10. Turn ignition switch to OFF NOTE: Do not turn ignition switch to ON before the only tips I could give not in video is to master the following motions slowly at first and then try and do them fast. maybe today it'll want to work for you? I know its tricky as even after having done it multiple times I rarely get it first or second try. over ride on full press and release brake pedal release over ride full press and release brake pedal (NO OVERRIDE FOR 2nd PUMP) and over ride on full press and release brake pedal, release over ride. At any rate, thanks for watching, and starting a conversation on here about your turbo, hope this helps and it'll reset. Cheers
ahh thats no good, what year and model are you working on? Since I posted the video I've found there is a couple different procedures for different models

Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports Thanks Danny I’ll check those pistons and the filter and let ya know if it works
How do I check the p-codes on the base model 1000r
after a quick google I believe with key on, hold the m button and simultaneously flick lights on and off at least 3 times, hope this helps let us know if it works. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports base model dose not have them m button do you have a social or instagram I can dm you a picture
My can am maverick 2015 1000r has power but when I press the start button nothing happens dose not display the speedometer Or anything just lit up
I did it maintenance required gone but still in limo mode please help
Cheers
my maverick trail does not have an override button, now what?
hmmm great question, I would consult the operators guide and see if their is a procedure for the newer trail models? let me know what year it is and I can try and look it up. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments. Cheers
How do i change the language on the display
hmmm I'm not sure if we can do that ourselves or if more likely we would need the fancy dealer software to play with that kind of display setting? good luck and thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a good question in the comments.
Cheers
This doesn't work on my 2013 1000 Can Am Commander. Why?
hmmm I'm not sure, maybe come back to it and try it another day and see if you have better luck, I know I tried three or four times with the manual in my hand before I finally figured it out for the video. Cheers
Will this work on my 14 outlander limited?
After a little research, I was surprised to find out, YES it looks like it should work very similarly on your 14 Outlander limited.
Thanks you for watching and commenting, as its great for me and anyone who see's this to learn what all this works for and what machines it doesn't. Let us know for sure that it worked on yours, but according to BRP, it should work.

2013 commander 1000 I’ve tried for three days and doesn’t seem to be working
hmmm, I checked the operators guide for that year and model and it appears like it should be the same procedure.

It took me at least four or five tries the first time I did it. Sometimes tricky to get all the steps in the 5 seconds. Also make sure on the second pump of brake pedal the over ride is not pressed.
also theres a note at the bottom to let screen go completely dark after completing procedure before turning it back on.
NOTE: Do not turn ignition switch to ON before the multifunction gauge turns off
hopefully this helps and maybe fourth try is a charm? thanks for the comment and let us know if it ends up erasing it or not. But it appears to not work on a handful of machines
I did this and it reset my light but now I have a dess key not recognize
hmmmm.. now that is strange. sorry for the late response, did you ever figure out a solution or why it caused issues for the key? that's weird. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share your experience in the comments. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports dirty key or bad ignition I gotta wiggle the key once and a while just a freak coincidence I guess that it happened the first time when doing the rest lol
My commander doesn’t have an override button
hmmm that's interesting which year model is it? Appreciate you watching and taking the time to share how it might not work on different models. Cheers
👍📽
cheers
Didn’t work on either of my 2012 commander 1000s
Hmmm so I just checked on BRP's website and on page 81 of the operators guide for the 2012 commander I found this
"NOTE: The message can be erased by pressing alternately the override switch
and the brake pedal 3 times, or can be erased by dealer."
So if you don't mind trying that I assume by just
press over ride
press brake
press over ride
press brakepress over ride
press brake
and see if that works for those year models and if you let us know that it does work I'll pin this comment so anyone else with this year will see this. Hope this works for you and thanks for watching and taking the time to share your experience with all of us in the comments. Cheers
Where is the pps censor?
I'm not sure exactly where that sensor is, but I did have a buddy who was getting an error code for the pps sensor and was able to resolve the issue by charging the battery, not sure how he got so lucky, but maybe give it a shot? sorry I wasn't much help with this and thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a question in the comments. Cheers
@@EscapePowerSports No I appreciate it. Been having nothing but problems with it. Got a brand new battery last spring, parked it over the winter, took battery out while it sat, put tender on it and getting this pps and limp home..
How reset outlander?
hmm, I believe it depends on the year model for the outlander, which year is your bike? Thanks for watching and looking forward to your reply to get you the exact reset procedure for your bike. For some years there isn't one available. Cheers
What is the procedure for Outlander570/2018
Here's what I found in the operators guide for that machine on page 168
(2) To erase the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED message, proceed as follows:
@@EscapePowerSports It works, great thanks
@@valiant-atv7079 No Problem, thanks for letting us know it worked
My bike wont go over 40 brand new belt
hmmm that's strange, whenever you turn the bike on does it say "performance Key" or "work key" I know the work key somehow uses the computer to substantially reduce the power available so maybe it could just be the wrong key? Hope this helps, but if not and you figure it out let me know, I'm curious. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Cheers
Didn’t work for me after hours
Ahh damn, these things can be so frustrating when they dont want to work. Which year and model are you working on? There are a couple of other procedures for different bikes. Thank you for watching and sharing what's going on with your machine.
Yeah hi mate, I got 2016 Maverick turbo...??? What else can I try
Well you gave a love heart but no other options that’s weird 😩
haha sorry freind, It was 3 am mountain time and tried to give a quick indicator that I saw your message and would be on it first thing in the morning. Pulled up the operators guide and unfortunately it look like that turbo should have the same reset procedure as described in the video.
(1) To erase the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED message, proceed as follows:
1. Select PARK.
2. Turn ignition switch to ON. Do NOT
start engine.
NOTE: The steps 3 through 9 must be
completed within 5 seconds.
3. Press override switch and HOLD.
4. Press and release brake pedal.
5. Release override switch.
6. Press and release brake pedal.
7. Press override switch and HOLD.
8. Press and release brake pedal.
9. Release override switch.
10. Turn ignition switch to OFF
NOTE: Do not turn ignition switch to
ON before
the only tips I could give not in video is to master the following motions slowly at first and then try and do them fast. maybe today it'll want to work for you? I know its tricky as even after having done it multiple times I rarely get it first or second try.
over ride on full press and release brake pedal release over ride
full press and release brake pedal (NO OVERRIDE FOR 2nd PUMP)
and over ride on full press and release brake pedal, release over ride.
At any rate, thanks for watching, and starting a conversation on here about your turbo, hope this helps and it'll reset. Cheers
Still not working. Tried 15 times
hmmm shit, what is the year and model of your machine?
