  • How am I going to sleep in there? I'm claustrophobic! Just writing about this makes me sweat!
Over a week ago, we built a quinzhee (snow shelter) and thought it would be a good idea to spend a night in it.
Our Quinzhee Building Episode: • Survival Snow Shelter!...
Since that time, it snowed and the new snow added weight to the top of the quinzhee. The roof started to sink making the already small space inside even smaller.
My husband Tomohiro, and our large Malamute cross dog, Tenshi are already inside along with our sleeping bags and camera gear. There’s little space for me to fit - even the candle seems like it is in the way!
We have air vents, so once we make a door to close off the entrance to keep in the heat, I know we’ll be able to breathe in there. So it’s safe… Or is it?
After many attempts to get in and refusals to stay, the freezing temperatures outside (-25°C) and the warmer temperatures in (-9°C) along with my patient husband and even more patient dog, and my agreement to do this for TH-cam lure me into the cramped quarters. I calm down enough to have a chat over tea and get into my sleeping bag!
    Whew!

Thanks for watching Sanj. Why were building forts so much more fun when we were kids? 🐥

Because we could go home take a shower and sleep in our beds at night.

I wouldn't have even stuck my head in there 😅. How likely is it for the roof to collaborate, because of the weight of the snow?

Hello Max. I read in a book called “Winter Wise” that when you finish building your quinzhee, it’s best not to add more snow on top because the structure could be compromised. In our case, the fallen snow made the roof sink in, so I was worried. 😞 😊Thanks for watching Max.

      最後はだんだん余裕出てきたけど、最初は最大の抵抗してたよ。。。汚い言葉を編集するのに大変だったよ(苦笑)

I didn't know you guys argue like my hubby and myself!! XD
I think I'm speaking for all of TH-cam when I'm saying thanks for trying! I wouldn't have made it inside, same claustrophobia here.
    Cheers,
    Your Sincere Follower

Thanks Lulu. Actually we acted out the arguing part. We never do that. Haha.
We had to edit out a few curse words!!!!
I wonder if all Yukoners are claustrophobic and that’s why we live in this BIG LAND!
