As much as I like the DC multiverse as it is one of the most creative and cool-looking ones I've ever seen, I have to wonder. Why did DC make their universe so complicated? Retconning stories, changing events, undoing entire canons. It's just too complicated. They really should decide what's part of the main timeline, and what is not.
I guess just the ammount they produced over the long ammount of time. There are Bond to be mistakes in the continuity so leaving them be would be even more confusing
Please make this a series for other IPs/characters, would be a pivotal playlist for showing friends who prior to reading any comic book, feel flustered since they think they need to have the entire history of every character remembered
Great video! Simple and well explained! But please reconsider the subtitle because it's very annoying to see 1 word at a time and the countless mistakes the AI makes because it mishears your words.
12:40 in death metal tie-in rise of the new god, it's revealed there are multiverses seperate from DC multiverse's orrery of worlds and that most of it is mundane and ordinary and not as colorful compared to DC.
Liked everything about the video, just hoped you’d give more emphasis on dawn of dc events and less spoilers (for example you told who was the villian protagonist in dark crisis)
@@HIVEMIND_COMICS It's been reinstated since Infinite Crisis, it's just that because of the Flashpoint, the Bat-family doesn't remember Kathy Webb Kane aka Katrina "Luka" Netz or Bette Kane ever being Batwoman and Batgirl...and Kathy was revealed during Batman Inc. to have been using this to her advantage...as Batman Inc.'s Nu52 stories were still set Pre-FP...so they only remember Bette being Flamebird, but Morrison was intending to show that Bette was Batgirl and in their flashbacks in the first volume...the idea that Bette was a stalker with a crush who later turned into the thrill-seeking Flamebird before truly becoming an actual Brave and the Bold-like version of Aquaman compared to her earlier slightly brash, but capable pre-Crisis self.
The killing joke happens before a death in the family. The events of the killing joke are directly mentioned in a death in the family, and Barbara Gordon is seen in her wheel chair at jason's funeral. Talking about comics you haven't read will only make you look dumb.
The marvel universe is pretty straight forward in terms of its continuity (almost everything since the 60s is canon to 616), but we are currently working on a video that goes over every major event within marvel lore since the birth of its universe
I don't understand the continuity explained by anyone on TH-cam. Trying to find out which Earths that runs of comics are is impossible. I can't even find out which Earth Action Comics is. Either videos like this don't tell you, or people say it's either Earth 0, 1, or 2, and no one gives a method of how they came to their conclusion.

@@HIVEMIND_COMICS It's pretty much what happened in 1987's reimagining is still true. Everyone remembers their history since 1935's first adventure of Dr. Occult (also called Dr. Mystic), but some histories have been altered to explain some things being different, meanwhile the classic versions that everyone else grew up with still exist elsewhere in the Multiverse with new designations to preserve Superman's history as revealed in DDC. Earth- 2's original version is now likely Earth-1938 Earth-1's original version is now Earth-1956 with the League renamed to Super Friends because really between Earth-1 Pre-Crisis and Earth-50 animated...there's virtually no differences...and at the time both were called Earth-1 or 1A. Earth-0's Pre-Flashpoint form aka the Post-Crisis universe/New Earth is now Earth-1985. Designations given for obvious reasons.
I know you wanted to keep the video to a manageable time frame. In doing that, you missed a Hallmark event. Zero Hour, and the New 52, and Rebirth were confabulated. I know things were messy in DC comics, so this is not a criticism, just an observation.
You mentioned Barbara Gordon as the first Batgirl, when the first Batgirl was Bette Kane. Also, it would have been more interesting if this video went outside the core Justice League members. For example, I wanted to see more info on Blue Beetle, Aztek, and the Phantom Stranger. Lastly, regarding core members, I was disappointed with this video not exploring the story of Blue & Red Superman after showing pictures of him.
No they are, the recent Death Metal event stated that every single thing that happened in canon is well... canon lol. All of this thanks to the merge that happened when the Source Wall broke every single thing happened in the main earth since 1938 is officilly canon.

It don't have to, Jim Lee himself said that it's okay for the reader to use their own headcanon. Plus the latest merge that happened in Death Metal event made every single event and story canon, so everything you know is officially '"happened" from 1938 till present day.
@NegrondaGwimReapa Right, I read Death Metal and the "every thing is cannon" bit is still beyond convoluted lol. That's fine, I can still enjoy DC comics. I just don't think too hard about continuity because it's pretty much beyond repair at this point.
This just highlighted why I find DC to be a hot mess. I just can't and don't want to follow it anymore. Can't make heads or tails of what is and isn't continuity. And even if I did it'll all get changed again before long. Goodbye DC, I won't be back.
