Mashallah you made my day by making this epic video of routine chores in the life of students in USA. It was so reminiscent of my first years in med school in Boston. You very rightly depicted the intricacies & misperceptions from people back home who have this notion of utopia. We used to have student pass for taking buses and subways and fortunately there were desi stores and my regular item was frozen paneer parathas. Being good at cooking since school hostel days, I met my GF at one of our potluck parties and she gave touching remarks that my cooking reminded her of her mom..! I had hard time calculating groceries in per pound metric and on when back in apartment, the exorbitant bill would frustrate me. It’s not at all east go lucky life as student and I remember my first part time job at baskins and Robbin’s apart from l tough studies would drain me out mentally & physically. Thank you so much Anam for this little insight for everyone to understand the daily life as a student in USA.

I’m so glad it reminded you of those days as a student!
Boston is still fun but very expensive as a city to survive without a permanent job. Hats off to you for managing everything despite the financial challenges. But these challenges become memories we start cherishing after a while, isn’t it?

Lucky you and especially your partner to be so good at cooking. I can imagine how some men are good chefs.

Very interesting vlog and thank you Anam Saeed for your effort to bring “behind the scenes” kind of video which showcases the life of student in USA which appears to be dashing on social media. i am not sure if should call it “nostalgic” or not because it’s just couple of years I graduated recently. In the start I had to share room in the dorm which I did not enjoyed, eventually moved to apartment which had all the amnesties. Doing groceries and laundry without mom or maid taught how to live independent life. I was fortunate to have vast and varied friend circle at uni and interestingly I became friends with Indian students which I would not have imagined if i had not pursued overseas studies. Cooking was very tough learning curve and I remember I was always on phone with my mom to teach me step by step while cooking. I really appreciate you Anam for making this video.

Kudos to you Anam for making good vlogs. I will request you to make more vlogs on various events at university and gatherings with friends on any cultural, sports etc gatherings - like the Eid Video you made earlier. Some videos about Tips to save as a student will be very helpful.

It takes a long time for most of us to forget denominating home currency for everything we buy as newcomer, especially when you are student and not earning. With current currency depreciation in Pakistan, it is even more stark reality. Even when one starts earning, this dollar vs rupee idea gives hiccups.

      So true!!! Can’t agree more
The rich of Pakistan become the middle to lower middle class of America

Just imagine if our currency had parity with dollar - 1$ = 1PKR, things would have been remarkably different !!

Annum how you can compare studying in the USA versus Europe, consider factors such as academic reputation, program offerings, and financial considerations. If unable to study in the USA but offered a chance in Europe, weigh the benefits against your long-term goals, considering leveraging European experience for future opportunities in the USA. A little assistance would be nice. 😇
