Starva just needs to implement Heart Rate and Cadence data as mandatory requirement for KOM. This would totally eliminate ebike and motorcycle cheats.

Acquaintance of mine got 20 KOMs at 120km/h. congrats to him I guess

Maybe power too. To many koms/qoms without any of those data. Then you look at the topspeed one got during the ride. Often (far) above 80km/h on the flat… no way. Don’t understand why those people don’t retract that ride, as they obviously did in in a car (being picked up for whatever reason).

If you have a strong tail wind that skews the results as well. Strava does not make sense if you are allowed to do it in different times, ergo it gotta be a race. Or heavy car/HGV traffic that also gives you extra speed.

Idk I’m on beta blockers following a heart attack. I can’t spent an hour at sweet spot and barely crack 160bpm

Strava also has a method for marking an account (like Pog’s) so that you can’t flag it. I had a KOM that kept getting flagged even though I had HR, cadence, and power data but someone on that segment was salty. After several flags, Strava finally contacted me directly and said they fenced off my KOM so it couldn’t be flagged anymore.

I managed to get a joint KOM with a pro on a local segment on strava. I tried for about a year to get it and felt smug that I was as quick as a pro, then realised the pros time was just in the middle of a race and he probably wasn't even putting an effort in.

Speeking to the night heatmap, i have kids and 80-90% of my riding is early morning. I pretty much always ride the same path because im just worried about safety. So excited to see if there is some unknown routes to take in the early hours of the morning.

Strava doesn't review anything as a default. If the E-Biker you've flagged, "unflags", the E-Bike ride appears in the leaderboards again. I've reported people, who are uploading their daily E-Bike commutes as bike rides. Pretty much identical segment times every day, obviously a motor involved. Strava doesn't stop these people. So Strava segments will become more and more obsolete over time.

People who takes a KOM on a en e-bike should go to therapy

Going for KOMs here in the Philippines is an exercise in futility. Motorcycle riders are blatant and don’t even think they’re doing anything wrong recording their motorcycle ride. There’s even on who’s so proud on going on her first road trip with a new Vespa 🤦‍♂️

@@iMadrid11 That's almost funny. What's not funny, is the incompetence of strava, they are letting people pollute their app/website into oblivion. Can't be so hard to detect "rides" that require power, no human body can ever provide. But they obviously hate working.

The communting folks also take the local legend thing too, lol. It’s not against the rules tho, but they have to say it’s on an e-bike to keep things fair…

LOL. I fell ill on a Haute Route Alps stage and sadly had to get into the broom wagon. I forgot to stop the ride on Strava and later realised I now had the KOM for the Col d'Izoard!!!! Needless to say I flagged myself immediately.

The beauty of having a training plan from your coach...you don't give two shits about some segment you just keep focused on meeting the target for the training session

One of Strava’s value proposition is to put a competition between bikers and runners. Knowingly that you can’t compare two rides at different times of the day, pro vs amateur, different weathers and conditions, people cheating, etc.
Forcing people to put more data in won’t fix anything. People can upload whatever they want.
If Strava puts AI on the topic, cheaters will find a way around.
Solution : don’t care about this "competition", enjoy the sports for what they are, go to races, race against yourself, against your friends

I used to live in a big cycling place but no pros and no races. An Olympian decided to take a ride through my town for who knows what reason. Thanks 😢

I think the main difference if you can prove that you are a pro is that you get free membership. It is what Marc Soler explained in a podcast

Is it fair that world tour riders get to go for STRAVA segments when they are on CLOSED ROADS and everyone else has to go for the segments on open roads with cars and traffic and stop signs and intersections to deal with???? The pro-tour riders even have motorcycles with camera-men basically in front of them guiding them along, or team cars rolling past and feeding them on the closed roads. I think it best if during the Pro-Tour races when the world's best riders are taking advantage of roads that have no traffic and they can cut the apex of turns better because the roads are closed, and even have the benefit of lead motorcycles and motorcycles pacing them at times, those KOM's should be in a different ladder. Like world-tour KOM's list or something like that.

If you’re a top 10 rider on Strava, you can guarantee your local villains know where you live.
My garage is like fort knox, I honestly couldn’t care if my bikes get stolen I just need the insurance to pay out quickly.
Which Laka is excellent at 👍

If you have the strava privacy circle around the area you live in , there’s a 3km diameter circle around your house which normally would prevent thieves from finding your house easily. Unless i am followed (which i will notice round here) i don’t worry about that.

Here in NZ we know all the names. If some unknown cyclist from wherever comes down for a visit, and has an ftp over 5.7w/kg(generally about the level of the top local guys) and takes the KOM etc good on them. But usually its someone who forgot to stop their garmin and drove home. Or some 50 to 70yr old with about 1500 yearly k's, out for a ride on their e-bike who has no idea how strava even works! Annoying thing is no one bothers to flag them here, so they often stay up for a few years before someone like me flags them. You have to give a reason for flagging, and I think there is come back for the person flagged? But most of the time they're extremely obvious. All the top local riders are within a few seconds of each other and then someone beats them by minutes.
