As far as lowering the rim so that they can dunk to bring more excitement (as a side note, I thought about the same thing that he said about it throwing off their shot), I watched people like Nika Muhl and Jacy Sheldon hustle hard on the court, and I think that hustle and passion and giving it everything you’ve got is the way to bring excitement to the games. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are fiercely competitive, which is not why I’m not surprised that they had that interaction that caught so many people’s attention myself included. People want to see that heart and that passion and genuine competition. That’s the excitement that I want to see in the WNBA.
My wife and I are season ticket holders to the Washington Mystics. I enjoy going to the games, follow many players on social media. There are some issue with their marketing and presentation as well. As a male it is a bit hard to feel the love for us. My example was the Father's Day game. Father's Day was more of a after thought mentioned at the end of the game while celebrating a woman during half time. My wife and I actually brought our children, and grandkids to celebrate Father's Day. It was disappointing to see that. But as a whole men are pretty left out and I think if you are going to build it you have to have a strong male fan base as well.

Id be willing to bet the NBA thought the W would be a good way to have write offs and never intended for it to succeed. Their CBA prevents owners from investing in their players. Whether you think the 'W' has no value, the owners that want to charter flights are prevented from doing so. The owners that want to pay their stars star money are prevented from doing so. All these limitations and more paint the picture that the W doesnt have value. Before a bro starts talking about how their league is constantly losing money, NEARLY EVERY MOVIE and SHOW you watch operate at a loss except for having advertisers and venture capilists dump money into them until the show/movie draws. Hell, some teams have facilities like high school teams. You dont put a surgeon in a bedroom with a steak knife and expect greatness, if you do, you're a fool.
These are some great points. They really need to change the compensation structure other contracts of the league if they really want to take advantage of this opportunity and grow the league and actually make it profitable.
Exactly! Some owners are purposely under financing their W teams due to taxes and other subsidies. For example, how the US government pays some farmers to grow certain things.
There is no rivalry , only Reese playing the victim as always, and people putting in their 2 cents. Reese has one move , compared to Clark who has a lot of moves. Clark does not talk about anyone, so no drama from Clark. Only noise is from the weak and/or the insecure women of the WNBA. and Reese has got to be the most overrated person in the WNBA.
BS. If you were paying attention, things were going crazy before LSU vs Iowa. And guess what, Angel’s team weren’t the big dogs of viewership. It was South Carolina, UConn, Iowa, V Tech, etc. Reese was only the 4th leading scorer on her team vs Iowa in 2023 while CC had 30. In 2024, Reese was third on her team while CC torched LSU for 41/12/7. Now Indiana is 2-0 vs Chicago. 1st matchup was close with 11 for CC (3rd on her team) and Angel with 8 (5th on her team). CC scored 23 this last game (1st) and Angel scored 11, 3rd on her team. No rivalry.
The trouble here is Caitlin is here to compete, unlike Angel who is only here to get likes and show off her ridiculous trampy outfits. Everyone and their mother knows that Angel is jealous and hateful towards Clark and that is sad. Angel calls Caitlin her friend yet she goes online to diss Clark all the time. This could be a friendly but competitive rivalry like Magic and Bird but Angel is too hard-headed and self-centered to understand. She needs to grow up. I'm a Caitlin fan all the way. In my personal opinion, the WNBA just needs to be disbanded. I don’t even have enough time to watch all the men’s games. Why would I watch the WNBA? If it wasn’t for the NBA sharing profits, the WNBA would have been long gone by the standard market.

It takes time to build something up when you have to deal with so much ignorance just for simply being a female, black, gay etc. Thankfully social media, news outlets and people are starting to appreciate female basketball which is fantastic for women. The NBA also understands the struggles the women have to deal with and are willing to help them succeed. If you don’t enjoy watching the WNBA then don’t watch it, but there’s no reason to remove it just because you don’t like it. Thats selfish
