i have (severe, untreated) adhd, so cleaning regularly is difficult to remember to do & sustained cleaning is also difficult to do; for a while now i’ve taken to putting this song on & burst cleaning while it is playing.
the song is short enough that it doesn’t feel like a huge commitment, energetic enough that it gets me moving, and more often than not i keep going until well after the next song has started. thanks for unironically fixing me, hot dad. i’ve needed this for years.

I have unironically been jamming to this all weekend. I’m the sole caregiver for a mom with cancer, and I hate chores. HATE ‘em. But they’re all falling on me right now. I’ve been making so many cleaning playlists and this is going on all of ‘em. This song has gotten my butt in gear. I’ve been dusting and disinfecting and washing clothes and “polishing and sterilizing all the things we use” 😂💖

Advice - Set a daily alarm to go off with this song. Do as much cleaning and decluttering you can while the song is playing. You either get into the groove and keep cleaning, or you at least did something!

Such a charming song. I heard Joel play it in his streams, and then I was surprised to find out that it's actually a very new song. I thought it is/was legit some obscure tune from the 80's. There's a lot of "faux-80's" music happening lately but this one really does sound like it's from the era.

I haven't cleaned my house in 16 years because I've been waiting for the perfect cleaning song. Now that I've found the perfect cleaning song I gotta find my cleaning supplies and get to work. I think they're in the pile of crap over by the front door, but they could also be in the pile of crap in the laundry room. Now that I think about it they could be in the pile of crap in the spare bedroom. I for sure know it's not in the pile of crap in front of the refridgerator.
Mr. Soaks saved my life. I had several messes around the house and all the other cleaning products left unsightly streaks, but when I was pinned down in the parking lot by sniper fire, Mr. Soaks personally got me to safety and arrested the assailants.

Your the next generation They Might Be Giants when it comes to the lyrical part of songwriting where you just wanna write something silly but it comes off as really deep. I'm like 90% sure its simply just about taking something as mundane as cleaning and turning it into a bop, which is your power move (ex: Heathcliff and web designing for children) but I cannot shake off the thought that its about how most people that are unhappy can become happy if they'd just stop whining and lazing around, and actually put into the time and effort to clean up their messy lives. Like, that's the general vibe I get from this song, "if your sad, quit whining, pick up a sponge and wipe all the dirt you put on your existence, then you can be happy. happiness doesn't come from laziness".
