One of the greatest little hot hatch of all time even if it was a bit dangerous. No comparison with 2021 little sports cars that are really safe. But for me the best one was the 206 rc
Dangerous? No, by any means, not. I am well, alive and in one piece thanks to that car. A friend of mine had one of those pocket rockets and we're cruising on a highway at about 130 kph when he suddenly lost control on a curve, hit a light pole on the car right back corner. It literally spinned, turned and overturned many times 'till finally ended (thank God) with all "three" whells on groud. But it was totally destroyed, mashed, the windows all broken, the windshield was the only glass left attached albeit totally cracked. Well, aside from some bruises, scratches and a few cuts, we were fine. Nothing broke, no serious injuries, nothing major. A police officer cut the seatbelts helped us exit the car. Some people stopped to help us and did not believe that we were the only ones in the car and that we were well and in one piece. Sure modern cars are safer, no doubt bout that, but that car is relativelly safe, and tremendously sturdy.
I had one of these 7 years ago and was my favourite car even today i miss it so much,I had a panoramic sunroof fitted and big sound system, awesome car and memories
Had one of these until last year. In my 3 years of owning it, it surprisingly didn't lose any value. I sold it for pretty much the same as what I bought it for 3 years earlier. Sold it because of financial reasons, unfortunately. If I have the chance of owning one again, I wouldnt hesitate for sure. The excitement and performance this little car gives, combined with the unsuspecting other motorists, is the best formula for extreme fun. Fun fact: I pretty much never had it understeering, since it oversteered much easier... :)

Here in France, we always compare the 206 RC to the Renault RS 182 since the early 2000’s. I had the chance to drive both, and my dream hot hatch would be the RC with the Renault RS engine! No doubt at this time Renault made better engines than Peugeot thanks to its F1 experience.
EW10J4S is not a bad engine though, it's actually quite strong and reliable. Compared to the normal EW10J4 the S has different pistons, ported head with bigger valves and variable intake timing.
Cars like this are fun to drive, in most cases in day to day driving you'll enjoy these more then 400+ hp and much more expensive cars. However, this car seems quite slow for the specs given. My 25 year old Calibra V6 has similar power figures (170hp, 223Nm) and is about 270kg heavier, but it pulls through second gear quite a bit faster then this 206RC...and the Calibra's second gear tops out at 115kph, this one seems to hit the revline at around 100.
