This band saved my life, seriously. I was in high school when Stadium Arcadium was out, and of course I was already a fan, but I was being severely abused at home. My abuser (biofather) was also a highly respected teacher at my highschool and nobody knew the truth, so I was around him almost constantly. My only escape was immersing myself with RHCP's music and it was like John was playing my soul. I felt like it was such an outlet for what I was hiding inside and I was known for my love of the band, and as such, those that didn't know him, my love for John especially. Any chance I could, I was sneaking my portable cd player (I had no time for ipods and this was before smartphones) and I could escape from the abuse and suicidal thoughts I always had, even if for a moment. I wish so badly I could tell them that someday; I love the entire group so much. The jam sessions as a way to write music, their friendship, and the fact that you have the best player of each instrument coming together in one band (among other reasons) makes this the best group ever. And fellow RHCP fans understand, and there's like a camaraderie when you meet a fellow mega fan! I can't put into words what this band means to me! I still listen to them in my car on the way to work (same cd's, lol) and I can't wait for them to make more music!

Flea and John's voices are so similar, they even have the same speed, tone, and phrasing speech patterns. I am struggling at times to figure out who's speaking. I never noticed before because I've only seen them interact on video.
Fact of the matter, is that there are thousands of us musicians out here talking about what these 2 Masters have done for us, and how I was so inspired and blown away when I saw them the first time in 2000. It changed my life and I never thought back up vocals were so important and what an art form it is!! Thanks John!!!! Love and Respect from the (505)!
My brother was a musician and he passed 2 yrs ago. Listening to this two, super excited abt the musicians, throwing out ideas abt influences, talking techniques, makes me miss my brother. I used to love sharing new music with him. Listening to Flea and John is like hearing my brother get excited abt music all over again.
This is what is amazing about these two. Despite being two of the greatest ever on bass and guitar, they still appreciate the art and deeper meaning of music in such a humble manner.

I had a dream last night that I bumped into these guys in NYC and we shared a cab somewhere. John was helping out at my workplace, waiting on a couple of tables etc. I told him how his music changed my life and he broke down and walked away. Then I went to tell my colleagues who he was and they started harassing him then he got mad at me ☹️ At some point he took a polaroid picture of me too. Strange dream
Indeed dear,but luckily my meeting with John has been a pleasurable one,he invited me to his house and taught me how to play the guitar.Not only that in the dream he complimented on my nose stud(my nose is bare in real life lol),he then went up to make coffee for him and I. And in another episode of my dream,I saw BSSM era John with the cigarette on his lip. My mum approached him and started lecturing him that you shouldn't smoke,it's bad for you. Apparently infuriated,he tied up his sneakers and left lmao. Dreams are weird but also gives an opportunity to meet our favorite people who we know we can't meet in real life.

what's funny is that in his 1994 interview when he was fucked on heroin the interview asks him about nirvana and kurt cobains death and he mentions that he thinks his music is absolutely awful. LOL

This track especially where John E is on record as saying, when he came up with that bassline, he was just f-ing around. Well, YEAH, it shows. You couldn't notate that on a stave, I don't care if you're Beethoven or Mozart, that bassline can only be a symbiosis of man and machine. He jammed it, the way Flea and John F jam their riffs. The Master.

Love the Syd Barrett shirt. Syd drew it in school. Barrett is okay but The Madcap Laughs is the superior LP of the two. Love JF's first 3 albums. DC EP is great too. Been a huge fan since Mother's Milk.

John contradicts himself a lot I've noticed, I think he is just always changing - which he has said is something he considers a positive and what he strives for - and so he just speaks his truth at whatever time he's speaking , which is subject to change.
From Anthony's book and also John interview about 2004? maybe....in the early 90s he felt like Nirvana was punk music for the masses. Forgive the stereotypes but Jocks/popular/prep kids didn't listen to punk and underground music for the most part. Its what the freaks/odd/artsy/different kids had. Music that only them and their close friends knew about being performed by people like them. Now that style of music was being made popular by Nirvana. But eventually John became a huge fan of Nirvana and has all of their rares/b sides.

Barrett! I've been wondering if John still listens to Syd's music, I guess I have an answer now.
There are some covers of him playing barrett songs, there are videos in youtube of Golden hair and Jugband blues, at least I remember those now.

John contradicts himself a lot I've noticed, I think he is just always changing - which he has said is something he considers a positive and what he strives for - and so he just speaks his truth at whatever time he's speaking , which is subject to change.
From Anthony's book and also John interview about 2004? maybe....in the early 90s he felt like Nirvana was punk music for the masses. Forgive the stereotypes but Jocks/popular/prep kids didn't listen to punk and underground music for the most part. Its what the freaks/odd/artsy/different kids had. Music that only them and their close friends knew about being performed by people like them. Now that style of music was being made popular by Nirvana. But eventually John became a huge fan of Nirvana and has all of their rares/b sides.

Funny how many people are saying they sound similar. I've watched and listened to so many interviews and videos over the years I can easily tell them apart. I'll admit they do sound similar, and both have a tiny bit of a lisp when they talk.
