The last of us is actually based on a real life fungi, but it only affects insects, the insects have there brains taken over, then it dies and grows spores, infecting more and more insects, it grows on the forest floor.
Cordyceps is a fungi that attacks many kinds of insects. Each type targets a specific insect species, and most involve a sprouting of fungus out of the head or back of the host organism, after a more dormant stage where the organism is agitated and suffering. When the fungus has grown enough, it will explode, releasing spores into the air. Many kinds of cordyceps have the ability to modify the host's behaviour, in order to maximize the release of spores. As an example, a type of cordyceps that specializes in attacking ants will cause the ant to climb as high as possible up a plant stem, and then latch its jaws onto the stem with a death grip so that it does not fall off. The fungus does this by creating a pressure in the ant's head that it feels it needs to climb to alleviate, and as a result of the climbing, the fungus is now at a higher altitude and can release its spores for a further distance. When an ant becomes infected with cordyceps, it will start bending its head down and rubbing its legs on its head (like it is extremely anxious and panicking), which is reminiscent of the behaviour of the recently infected runners in The Last Of Us. When another ant sees an ant acting this way, it will carry it as far away as possible from the colony, because infected ants cannot be removed once they latch onto a stem, and can wipe out entire colonies. The infected ant will eventually die, as a result of the giant stalk of fungus erupting from the back of its neck. The stalk will eventually release spores after it has grown for about 2-3 weeks, possibly infecting more ants. The cordyceps fungus is harmless to humans, and it is actually a remedy for some illnesses. It can be prescribed in pill form in some countries, and the ingestion of a cordyceps fungus that has mutated to infect humans would result in a pandemic like shown in this game, and could wipe out millions or even billions of people, because humans live in very densely populated areas. I learnt most of this from my Science teacher 3 days ago, who showed us a video and explained it to us with passion, so this should be pretty accurate. I also, of course, have played the game, that's why I've made references to the game. I also made some inferences as to how it would evolve to attack humans. If anyone thinks any of this information is wrong, please tell me, and feel free to ask questions.
I'm a 19 year old, and watching this literally made me tear up like the first time when I played this game back in June of 2013... I only played through the story once and haven't even touched the game since then because I knew that the feels would be too much for me to handle.

Its nice to see this game trough the perspective of younger ppl, when I first played this game I was 25, the way they relate to the situations and characters is so different, like how the figure of Joel comming to protect Serah in the house resonates to them, making them as a player feel a lot safer, when youre 25 years old and live alone you dont expect your father to rescue you and protect you of all troble/evil like younger ppl do, its very interesting.

Fire Power -The Last of Us did an amazing job by blending both Stealth and Action -Also, remind the players to not use guns much often because ammo are hard to come by -And the melee combat animation is awesome and brutal to watch

Its probably because watching it now you know what happens later on so you're more invested in the story and emotionally attached to the characters. And knowing what happens to Joel and his brother later on just makes this way sadder because of how they live.

Noah Lach that's most likely what happened, or he could have played the demo. I've played games, but don't play them for another year or so, and forget almost entirely what's going on. With The Last of Us, you really need to play a major portion of the game to remember whats going on. He said he only played a little in the beginning, and sure the beginning leaves you with a broken heart, but it's not enough to leave a permanent stain on someone's brain. After all, when people talk about The Last of Us, they talk about Ellie and Joel, not Sarah.
i absolutely adored The Last of Us, its most definitely one of, if not the greatest game I've played (but I mean I'm 16 and don't buy a lot of games too often). So if they dare screw it up with a bad prequel or sequel it'll cut so deep

Noah Lach that's most likely what happened, or he could have played the demo. I've played games, but don't play them for another year or so, and forget almost entirely what's going on. With The Last of Us, you really need to play a major portion of the game to remember whats going on. He said he only played a little in the beginning, and sure the beginning leaves you with a broken heart, but it's not enough to leave a permanent stain on someone's brain. After all, when people talk about The Last of Us, they talk about Ellie and Joel, not Sarah.
He obviously wasn't a gamer since he couldn't follow basic intstructions from Tommy and had no sense of direction.
