Just love how Alistair presents homes! He's a keeper!
He's one of my favourite presenters. A wonderful man!
hes a bit of a knob really, always so rude.
He's always over budget. Maddening.
Love this episode. Beautiful area, and the perfect house for this couple with a happy ending. Thoroughly enjoyed the educational parts as well.
All of them were great, but I am with the couple, 2 hit it out of the ballpark!
Wow! I really like this episode!! The host was awesome & the couple, Fearga and Graham,
were equally amazing! I also thought the 2nd stone house was perfect for them, especially that Bothy Cottage!! What a great move this was for them!! I would love a follow up episode on Fearga and Graham, to see how they’re doing now in 2023-2024!!
Google The Bothy at Ivy Cottage.
This episode is somehow perfect in all ways. Just now looked up The Bothy, in Redpath: Ferga and Graham are promoting the holiday let very well.
👍👍👍 Real full episode including end credits. Every episode of Escape To The Country should be of this audio, visual and editing quality.
I wonder how much snow falls in the area of the mystery house. It's a lovely property but just too isolated.
Northumberland can get a lot of snow
A hell of a lot of snow, I used to live there.
I'm guessing it would be a grueling commute to London for the wife.
Alistair is my favorite of the presenters, though they are all very appealing and charming. Jules, Nicky, the Indian woman with the beautiful clothes (can't think of her name right now), and more as well. I'm so, so sorry about the loss of Jonnie Irwin. They feel like family after you see them a few times. Sorry for the loss to all who were close to him.
Lovely, lovely couple! I adored house#2 too! So happy for them and wishing them many wonderful years to come!
The houses were fabulous with greenery everywhere. ❤❤
I absolutely loved the mystery house was beautiful. House 2 was good as well
Wow! The mystery eco house and those views!🥰 A holiday let would be just perfect there.
Great couple, Alistair is just lovely and the episode a treat! Thanks! I'm glad they found what they were looking for, I hope it all worked out and they are happy and healthy.
It's so remote! What if you ran out of milk?
Well, it's the price to pay for living so isolated.🤷♀️
Or trying to direct an ambulance there if somebody became ill, especially if there is deep, deep snow. I say this because it happened to a friend of mine who lived in an out of the way place. 😒
Haltwhislte is lovely, close to Hexham and close to Cumbria.
Hadrian's wall stretches from Northumberland to Cumbria.
love house 2 and what an adorable couple .
What a treat! One of my favorite episodes. 🥰
I would enjoy spending a month in the mystery house, but I couldn't imagine living there.
I'm so happy for this lovely couple! That house was perfect!
Lovely couple, magnificent house. Many happy years to them there. 👏👏👏
feel good program........
Mystery house is interesting. The floors will be freezing. Buy loads of fleece and sweaters. The weather is going to be slightly more extreme, especially the wind.
No point in telling them your budget. They're going to ignore it anyway.
Wait until you try driving to the station in winter!!!!
I love Alistaire and I love Northumberland all 3 houses and views were soectacular
Northumberland is incredible! The second home is lovely.
Enjoyed this one!
My! The mystery house is perfect.
It amazes me that frequently couples who come on this show still have their own property to sell. In this case the offer was accepted, so hopefully it all ended well for them.
They just get a bridging loan for One Year, so they can buy the property, but they have to sell the house they live in now within one year
@@tinahasapis1085 I'm basing what I said above on some episodes of escape to the country I've seen recently where on the update at the end it was disclosed that the couples did not sell their house in time, so lost out. I am familiar with bridging loans having worked in conveyancing.
Unlike places like Australia and the US, house sales in the UK are never done until the last minute ! Contracts in Oz are often as little as four weeks from seeing a property to moving in, whereas in the UK, it can be four months or more. The producers have to choose potential buyers, organise a suitable time period for filming, and this won;t always chime with the sale situation of the buyers.
@@trilliarobinson7862 it's 6 weeks from the day you put a 10 percent deposit on the property you are purchasing until the exchange of contracts day. I have worked for many years in Real estate. From Sydney Australia
Captivating.
I'm surprised that so many couples on this show want holiday lets. Do they understand and manual work involved? Every time a visitor leaves the whole annex must be thoroughly cleaned, laundry changed and dirty laundry washed. It is back bending and time consuming work.
In this case there isn't much work involved...just a bedroom and a bathroom. In bigger holiday lets with more rooms then I agree with you.
Same with the obsession for woodburners ! Don't get me wrong, I had a number when we lived in Cornwall, and they are lovely. But ... they are also hard work, make a lot of dust, and are not "instant heat', which may come as a shock to some of the townies.
Whenever they felt like it.
Yeah, and you'd be amazed by visitors that become really gross slobs away from home! I've cleaned some truly horrific messes. I'd rather clean a barn!
Awesomeness
Bit too remote for me but the mystery eco house was pretty special
I don't think that gardening would work very well on the mystery house land. Very windy and cold. Also missing a fair amount of the requested amenities.
Just a query from an ex pat .... when did en suite bathrooms become a standard feature of period properties ?
Anlwick Northumberland, Harry potters, film was in the castle near the poison gardens,
Why do they bother showing houses out of their price range?
There probably aren't many properties in their price range and list of wants. They do their best, but it isn't always easy to match.
The mystery property is really impractical. Snow bound in Winter for travelling to train station. What happens if husband alone and needs help. No, a nightmare. Why show unsuitable properties?
She's a bit of a control freak, and I'm only 5 minutes in. It doesn't bode well...
She also sounds American at times.
I thought she sounds Irish
I am having a hard time watching this one because the wife keeps finishing her husband's sentences haha. Very irritating. She sounds Irish, but then again, I have no idea where all the accents come from.
PRAY TO THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME!
Amen to that.
