Great video and I like the natural sound and no stupid music overlaid on the video like some other you tubers. And an absolute cracking chub. Tight lines.
My heart sunk for ya when you missed that pike and ended up in the tree 🤣Pukka chevin that mate what a take hammered it I defo thought it was a pike the way it hit it the perseverance paid off nice to see some more lure fishing nice pb lure caught chub looks like a nice stretch of river some spots worth revisiting with some other methods to . Keep them coming mate 🤛🏻
Cheers David, yes I saw its head appear and grab then let go, set the hooks too late and that was the end of my chances with that pike 😬. Glad you're enjoying the lure content too 👌
Well done Mark , What an amazing take and cracking fish 👍 Totally agree with your views on fishing and mindfulness. I have my long passed Grandfather to thank for introducing me to a lifelong passion. Cheers for another enjoyable watch 👍
Cracking fish. Nice to see some lure fishing. I went and had a go at some chub for the first time today using the link ledger. I'm trying to put all of the things I've learned from your videos into practice. Only a small brown trout on bread flake but an awesome few hours.
Spring is sprunging my good friend. I believe this may be the first time I've ever seen you through an artificial lure. It's my favorite. I'll send you some of my home made ones. Good luck brother. Tight lines. Can't wait to see what spring brings in your videos.
Thanks Darion, yeh I have done other lure videos but it's something I should do more of and have this season. I do enjoy it mate. That's also very kind of you, one day it would be a pleasure to meet you.
Great video as always Mark and a true reflection of a hard day on the lures, snags and all! What a reward for your efforts, the icing on your cake being that beautiful chub in glorious surroundings. Hope to get out once more on the coarse side of things, before switching to the spotted rockets😉.
Cheers Ian. I always like to keep it real show the rough with the smooth, I think we can all relate to that as anglers and how trips go. Good luck with the trout mate 👍
Lovely setting there with plenty of swims to choose from. Excellent result as well and an angry fish. I catch quite a few of there smaller brothers n sister's on little mepps spinners in our local river but never that size. Have you ever thought about trying your luck after bass at your nearest coast line. Its what my mates and i are gearing up to now. Not sure where you are but your more than welcome to join us for a session or two down on the south east coast. 👍
Cheers Mark, yes it's a beautiful place. Mepps aglia such good spinners, legendary some might say. I really am interested in your bass invitation. I don't know if you're on Instagram but I'm reachable on there.
Lovely chubbly Mark. Like you I don't know where I would be without fishing. Looks like its warming up at the weekend so hopefully will get a Thames barbel to finish the season.
@Mark Erd we've had no settling snow in Oxford as I speak. Not sure if there has been any upstream. It will be chub fishing if there has been. Tightlines to you to mark.
Well done Mark smashing catch many years ago I fished a gravel pit lake for pike in a tiny dingy and caught a prime near 6 ib Chub on a plug and it was a real shock that fish must have got in somehow from a small stream through flood water nearby you never know with fishing thank you for sharing mate kind regards Mr D
Great Chub..yea they can really smash a lure...Given water cilour , sunlight and general conditions for that time of yr I'm surprised no pike activity. I'm currently experimenting with concentrated slow release spice essences 24. hr soaked in woffle presentations for the river bream chub n carp..
Thanks Hayden yeh it was right conditions I did have one half hearted grab in the swim which you'd have seen but they were in a really half hearted mood.
Nice one Mark! We have a native fish here called a Murray Cod which is sometimes referred to as 'the fish of a thousand casts'. Seems like that chub may have qualified too!
nice video mark smashing small river with big fish,, a great way to catch it on a lure i remember back years ago chub were taking small lures intended for pike and perch... the thinking behind this was thus remembering some rivers you will never catch a chub on a lure so the thinking was these chub being caught on lures were in rivers that contained cray fish and the chub were feeding on small crayfish and the lure to them resembled cray fish and not fish ,its up for debate as to whether it is the case... but is a point worth thinking about if your rivers contain crayfish,,well as always mark great video and your joy of fishing shining through,,is always a pleasure ,until your next trip down by the waters edge tight lines,,
Thays a very good point Stephen, someone who has now deleted their comment on this video did accuse me of using too larger a lure and that the only reason the chub took the lure is because I scared it into doing so. I'm amazed how people come up with these ideas. They're such a predatory fish and as a an innocent kid I'll be honest I use to fish freshly caught large gudgeon specifically for large chub. As I grew up this evolved into me successfully using tinned sardines as bait for chub and barbel during winter time, this was prior to the crayfish infested waters we now have.
Great video as usual mark. Lovely chub. You left me absolutely pissing my self with the dog shit remark (pardon my French) . But like you said why bother picking it up if your just going to throw it into the trees. 🤬🤬🤬🤬. 👍🎣
Cheers Darren, my goodness it beggars belief that you would hang your dogs mess in bag on a fence or in trees, I've even hooked them on the bottom of the river when fishing, absolutely bloody vile!
I know that sunken tree. Fed some good chub there last year during closed season. Do you ever fish the other end where it widens as it always looks good to me 👍
Heya Mezza, yes it's a good area, I've don't a lot of fish over the years throughout there. The area your talking about is decent although originally was even better prior to having one of the trees removed which made it a roach haven as well as chub and preds.
Agree with you on the dogshit. Round where I live some wanker goes to the trouble of actually hanging thier bags of dogshit on a tree like Christmas baubles.
My god they pee me off, why for the life of you would you bag it then hang it up, or worse throw the bag in the river. I'd love to see someone going round issuing spot fines as its horrific the amount of plastic bag contaminants left hanging around for others to discover. In fact I'd like to rub their faces in it!
you know mark, this is one of your best vids, so true to life, and a fantastic chub as well, !! what more could you want?? maybe a lure caught 6!! LOL!
Great vid as always.. love the variety on this channel.. superb. Telll me.. why do you swap hands to cast..then swap back for holding the rod? Ambidextrous or a quirk?
Thanks mate and yes it's an odd one. I am ambidextrous to a certain point, but I'm actually a lefty. I think it's something that's goofy which I did as a kid fishing which has now stuck and I can't unstick it lol 😂
Thanks again Mark - another splendid chub
Cheers mate 😊
Great video and I like the natural sound and no stupid music overlaid on the video like some other you tubers.
And an absolute cracking chub.
Tight lines.
Thanks Mark 👌😀

Cheers Tony it was a solid hit. We both have a lot to be thankful for that our relatives fished.
Lovely chub Mark well done for sticking it out for a brilliant reward Thank you
Thanks ever so much James and best of luck 🤞for you for the last few days.

Thanks Wilde, I hope you get amongst them mate, I'm sure you will.

Thanks mark
Thanks Ross, been enjoying some lure and deadbait trips if honest mate. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Barry 😊

great fish mate. i love catching chevin on the lures
Cheers Matt, yes it's good fun to be honest. Can do without this heavy rain forecast ⛈️🙄
Lovely chubbly Mark. Like you I don't know where I would be without fishing. Looks like its warming up at the weekend so hopefully will get a Thames barbel to finish the season.
Cheers Mate and yes up to 14c at weekend, but the current snow melt and temp drop plus heavy rain tomorrow will make it interesting. Good luck to you

Thanks Mr D and that's a nice stillwater chub, some of the old Oxford lakes adjoining the Thames hold or used to some very large ones.
Great Chub..yea they can really smash a lure...Given water cilour , sunlight and general conditions for that time of yr I'm surprised no pike activity. I'm currently experimenting with concentrated slow release spice essences 24. hr soaked in woffle presentations for the river bream chub n carp..

Nice one Mark! We have a native fish here called a Murray Cod which is sometimes referred to as 'the fish of a thousand casts'. Seems like that chub may have qualified too!
Thanks Frank and hah yes it qualified I think, especially given how tetchy and testing the bright conditions were.
Jammy bugger. Well deserved mate.
Cheers Barry, yes agreed you always need some luck and fortune mate, no doubt about it.

Lovely Chubly !!
Cheers Phil it made a tough trip very pleasant mate. Hope you're keeping alright too?
Bravo bravo 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers Lee 🍻
Only fishing can take you from being pissed off at dogshit bags and getting caught in a tree, to the joy of a first capture.
Lmao this is a fact 🤣

Well done Mark a lovely chub and for the dog poo scum bags 👍👏
Thanks John it was nice to connect with such a fish on the lures. Regarding the dog poo and bags god it's sickening!
I know that sunken tree. Fed some good chub there last year during closed season.
