Hi Mark, The elements were against you but as you said persevere and it will pay off, and it definitely did, 2 beautiful chub and in great condition. i love your little chat at the end of your videos, its sharing your days fishing with us. So pleased your continuing to share your trips with us and may it continue. Peter.
Hi Mark great upload as always I was mesmerised with the millpond like waters so calm and just listening to the wildlife in the background was very pleasant indeed. You done well with the low water and sun conditions like you say perseverance pays off couple of cracking chevin . Oh and for anyone who hasn't smelt the mainline garlic mix prepare your nose for an onslaught of potent pungent garlic that seems to cling to your hands for days my dog got into my bait bag in shed funny the mainline was the only bag he didn't seem interested in I wonder why 😂 . Keep them coming mate looking forward to the next 🤛🏻👍🏼
He is back. 😁 Nice mirror that Mark mate if old mr tench wasnt showing up then cant complian with a corker of a carp like that . As always a quality watch keep them coming mate 👍🏼
Thanks David I was really happy to have landed her and it was touch and go with the snags either side. Also many thanks for taking the time to stop by and watch the video as well as posting such a nice comment.
A cracking Winter Chevin trip…you just never know how the session is going to go and that’s the Beauty and Magic of Fishing So much more rewarding when a session is difficult and challenging and you managed two pristine Chevin 👌 high five and Bravo Mate quality video ❤
You got that right, sometimes it is tough and sometimes easier and sometimes there is no rhyme no reason. Glad you enjoyed it as I know you're fairly local if i remember rightly Manikin. Hope you're also having some good fishing trips lately.
A very nice opening, and a lovely flow on that river, nice video mate, I must get on the river mole soon and find a few fish, all the best, have a great weekend.
Nice one Mark. Not done any proper Chub fishing this year yet, I'll have to make time for a river trip. I like to take a quiver rod & a trotting rod with the centrepin. Made myself some fluted avon floats for trotting. I love watching them trundle down river, especially when they disappear under! Think a day on bank is the best therapy you can get. All the best mate. 👍
Hi, mark, hope all is well. Noted in comments, someone asking about your landing net. The later version has much stronger arms. I did have an early version, which had thin and very weak alloy type arms, and had one snap as i was lifting a fish out of the river. Luckily the fish stayed in, due to depth of the mesh. Hard going up here in Oxfordshire, at moment.
Hi Mark. Beautiful chubs, minimal equipment and a beautiful river... that's it. Tell me, why do you release a few meters of free line after casting the rig into the water? Greetings from Poland
Hi grzeg! I like to allow some extra line at times to allow the bait to bump along the bottom into position, other times i will also do it for different reasons, sometimes to take any of the rivers flow pressure off the line .
I use what is known as a quivertip rod also known as a "feeder rod" they usually come with multiple tips with different sensitivity and weights. Reels can vary depending on size of the river, but for mainy small rivers I use only either a 500 size reel or 1000 size with 6lb line
Hahaha, sometimes Eric it's just nice to soak in the atmpshpere and sit and wonder why the heck the fish aren't in the mood. Many thanks mate you gave me a good chuckle there.
Great to see you back Mark. Missed your videos. Hope you are keeping well & winning the battles!

Lovely Chub, enjoyable video Mark. But not only a you a very good angler, you are blessed with having lots of good waters near where you live.
Can I ask what rod and reel for this kind of fishing thanks 👍
I use what is known as a quivertip rod also known as a "feeder rod" they usually come with multiple tips with different sensitivity and weights. Reels can vary depending on size of the river, but for mainy small rivers I use only either a 500 size reel or 1000 size with 6lb line
Great to watch as always mark, and what a lovely stretch of water. Can I ask what make/model your landing net is ? Atb,Paul.
The landing net is the old Wychwood folding specimen net head. i have had issues with in the past but it is a very nice net in its own right .
are you just using a circular ledger with two split beachside then a couple of foot to your hook?
Yes thats it, so i use a swivel with a loop of line with two pinched on split shot, then below that a soft grippa stop, then the hook.
Good unorthodox filming style as per. Love the way u say absolutely nothing for 20 mins 😂
It’s good to be different 👍
Hahaha, sometimes Eric it's just nice to soak in the atmpshpere and sit and wonder why the heck the fish aren't in the mood. Many thanks mate you gave me a good chuckle there.
