Glad somebody has a review for this mod on YT. This is one of the coolest looking mods I’ve seen for ME2 - it makes the suicide mission feel more… well, suicidal! In vanilla, the mission is really only an actual challenge on the very first playthrough, so the magic is kinda lost on every playthrough after that. I love that someone took it upon themselves to bring tangible risk back into the picture

This mod is great overall, a friend of mine is giving it a go and is trying so hard to have an Everyone Dies run, plus, he's having fun to see different squadmates doing successfully the given tasks and much stuff, and there's a Legendary Edition version that got slight changes like allowing the 3 Normandy upgrades and replacing the morality boost with a boost to squadmates picked up for the vent run and long walk in the sekeer swarm.

Thanks for the update. Didn’t know it was finally ported to LE. Have a friend who will get to try it now because of that.
Those are interesting changes. I didn’t have any problem with them but understand that psychologically people like to feel like they have agency. The missing 3rd ship upgrade and having points tied to how Shepard is roleplayed impact that because they feel tied to decisions that the player isn’t intentionally making.
It sounds like 55tumbl changed the probabilities of the outcomes on the actual mission to compensate for these changes so it’s just as risky as it was in the OT mod you just experience that risk in a different way.

Thanks for this. Played the og trilogy on console so I never had the chance to play this mod, but I've always wanted to. I have legendary on both console and pc so I'm crossing my fingers that it might get ported eventually. I thought I read the modder was not modding anymore but I'm still hoping.

It apparently got ported to Legendary Edition last month. Mechanics are slightly different from what I cover here but core functionality is the same.

I dont see how Garrus isnt Leader material. His squad wasnt killed due to his leadership but because he was betrayed, Something he couldnt predict.

Leaders, especially military leaders have to manage the mental state of their squads or they risk mutiny. You could argue that Garrus is at least partly responsible for failing to anticipate Sidons' motivations or actions.
But my point wasn't that Garrus isn't leadership material (or that Zaaed and Miranda are much better), it's that there's enough ambiguity between some of the options that it's hard to read the vanilla suicide mission as anything other than an exercise in reading the Developers' minds. To that point, the modders have confirmed that Zaeed was originally going to be a leadership option and the only hard evidence against him today is the dossier in the LotSB DLC, which wasn't available to everyone who played the game back in 2010.
That's why I praised the specialization mechanic in the mod. Characters like Garrus and Tali still get a point in their favor if they have a lore-based reason to be picked for a role (these match the vanilla choices in the regular version of the mission), but you don't automatically fail if you pick another option for reasons that might make sense to you.

@@mickomoo oh I agree with you that the implementation is much better here. It's just that one point just stuck out to me.
Sidinos says they got to him and threatened to kill him if he didn't work for him, it seems he just did it for self preservation than anything to do with his mental state. He even says that he sees the face of his squad and can't eat after the incident. It would be bad leadership of Garrus to be paranoid of his crew. As Shepard says "you can't control other people, but you can control how you act".
But anyways it was just that one point that stuck out to me and really enjoyed the video.
