I think Gabriel's right. In London, black people generally aren't intimidated by white British people. We're generally intimidated by other black people
Im white. I do not think they are intimidated by other black people per say, its the way the dress/act - Like the guys in the video themselves, I would not walk past them and think oh what nice guys even though after watching a fair few I'm positive they are. Not because of the colour of their skin, its the way people act. If they was dressed smart I wouldn't think twice. If you dress a certain way it implies things.
@@usefulrandom1855 These guys in the video are all around 40, so the intimidation thing is out the window. I think they were moreso talking about when they were younger. "It's the way they dress/act". I agree, but I still think there's a racial aspect. Like for me personally, it's extremely difficult for me to be intimidated by a white British guy, idk exactly why. And a lot of black people would agree with me. Whereas with each other, we're more wary. Maybe it's because we stereotype each other to be more likely to be carrying a weapon. Maybe because we stereotype each other to be the most physically dominant/violent. "I would not walk past them and think oh what nice guys even though after watching a fair few I'm positive they are. Not because of the colour of their skin, its the way people act" This is what confuses me. To be brutally honest, I think that's racial bias on your part. You probably won't admit it, but if these guys were white, you'd probably find them more approachable & are more likely to think they're "nice guys". You say it's "not because of the colour of their skin, its the way people act". So what about the way Gabriel, Chiso & Marvin act has you hesitant that they're nice guys?? Again, I think that's your racial bias.
I’m a proud black man. 6 foot 7 inches tall. 21 stone. When I walk down the street and navigate spaces in general I know I’m being judged before I even open my mouth. The way I see it, if someone feels intimidated by me and has to cross to the other side of the road because I’m walking towards them it’s their problem not mine. It’s not my job to put whitey and uncle toms at ease. I tried doing that in past and it drove me crazy literally. I will continue to walk with my head high.
Wanting better for yourself and your family is normal, especially if you have children their safety and wellbeing is paramount. So if you have the ability to move to a "more affluent area" the byproduct of that is a lower overall crime rate, better schools, greener areas/clean and generally more safe. These areas tend to be in majority white areas. The only problem i see is that young black people unfortunately do not get to see the black doctor, lawyer, or businessman as they leave those not so good areas.
I am usually agreeing with Gabriel but his perspective is too London based! "Up North" aka Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds etc the "Jack Boys" aka robbers can be all racers... but anyway I hear what Gabz is saying but he shouldn't make it about colour.
Gabriel says the quiet part loud. He don’t mince words. Honest man 😂
4:21 did he say Ghepta and Skeps?? 😅 Gabs humour is unmatched
